Dominating sets and connected dominating sets in dynamic graphs

In this paper we study the dynamic versions of two basic graph problems: Minimum Dominating Set and its variant Minimum Connected Dominating Set. For those two problems, we present algorithms that maintain a solution under edge insertions and edge deletions in time O( 06\ub7polylog n) per update, where 06 is the maximum vertex degree in the graph. In both cases, we achieve an approximation ratio of O(log n), which is optimal up to a constant factor (under the assumption that P 6= NP). Although those two problems have been widely studied in the static and in the distributed settings, to the best of our knowledge we are the first to present efficient algorithms in the dynamic setting. As a further application of our approach, we also present an algorithm that maintains a Minimal Dominating Set in O(min( 06, m)) per update

The Porretta thermal springs (Northern Apennines): seismogenic structures and long-term geochemical monitoring

The thermal springs of Porretta are located on a seismically active area of the Northern Apennines. In 19th Century a chemist identified anomalous behaviour of the thermal waters in concomitance with local seismic events. Recent studies assessed the geochemical features of the circulating fluids (e.g., waters carry a dissolved CH4-dominated gas phase with a radiogenic signature of the helium isotopic ratio) and observed anomalous hydrologic and geochemi- cal signals possibly related to crustal strain phenomena due to local seismic events. Long-term geochemical moni- toring was carried out from 2001 to 2006 with the aim of detecting the behaviour of the circulating fluids possibly coinciding with seismic activity. The collected data reveal a sensitivity of the thermal waters to the activity of the main fault crossing the village of Porretta and identify a «seismogenic» structure crossing the village

Revisiting the tree Constraint

International audienceThis paper revisits the tree constraint introduced in [2] which partitions the nodes of a n-nodes, m-arcs directed graph into a set of node-disjoint anti-arborescences for which only certain nodes can be tree roots. We introduce a new filtering algorithm that enforces generalized arc-consistency in O(n + m) time while the original filtering algorithm reaches O(nm) time. This result allows to tackle larger scale problems involving graph partitioning

O Estado do Piaui possui o segundo maior rebanho caprino do Brasil (1.74l.053 cabecas) gracas as suas condicoes naturais favoraveis ao desenvolvimento desta especie. Em razao destes fatores a EMBRAPA-UEPAE de Teresina vem desenvolvendo pesquisas dirigidas ao aperfeicoamento dos conhecimentos tecnico-cientificos visando gerar tecnologias mais adequadas ao desenvolvimento da caprinocultura do Estado. Este trabalho visafazer chegar aos caprinocultores algumas informacoes praticas sobre a criacao de caprinos: instalacoes adequadas; alimentacao (suplementacaoalimentar e mineral); manejo sanitario e principais doencas; manejo reprodutivo; e manejo das crias.bitstream/item/95602/1/CIR080001.pd
