    Unsteady Subsonic and Transonic Potential Flow over Helicopter Rotor Blades

    Differential equations and boundary conditions for a rotor blade in forward flight, with subsonic or transonic tip Mach number, are derived. A variety of limiting flow regimes determined by different limits involving blade thickness ratio, aspect ratio, advance ratio and maximum tip Mach number is discussed. The transonic problem is discussed in some detail, and in particular the conditions that make this problem quasi-steady or essentially unsteady are determined. Asymptotic forms of equations and boundary conditions that are valid in an appropriately scaled region of the tip and an azimuthal sector on the advancing side are derived. The equations are then put in a form that is valid from the blade tip inboard through the strip theory region

    A major purpose of this research was to investigate the mechanism of aryl azide addition to allenes. Much evidence has accumulated in support of a concerted mechanism for aryl azide additions to simple alkenes. Consistent with these findings, this addition is a symmetry allowed process. The analagous aryl azide additions to allenes have received little mechanistic study. The approach taken in this work was to probe the mechanism by using optically active 1,2-cyclonanadiene, observing the stereochemistry of the adduct formed upon addition of phenyl azide. Another goal was to investigate the isomerization of the phenyl azide-1,2-cylononadiene adduct, 10-phenyl-10,11,12-triaza-â–ł 11 -bicyclo [7. 3. 0] duodec-1-ene (7) to the previously unknown aromatic isomer 4,5-heptamethylene-1-phenyl-1,2,3-triazole (14)

    Over the past 6 years, the number of accredited Masters Counseling programs has increased from 6 to 75, a growth rate of 233%. In the new expansion of educational technology, programs have better tools to implement a range of educational experiences alongside frameworks to deliver effective counselor education. Much of the counselor-training process involves gatekeeping to enter the profession. One crucial aspect of gatekeeping is training program’s effectiveness at implementing remediation when needed. This article explores strategies and reflective case studies for remediation practices in virtual environments within a counselor education program. The article places an emphasis on applying remediation while ensuring student due process, a practice that can be applied to any training program in a higher education environment

    Higher dimensional Reidemeister torsion invariants for cusped hyperbolic 3-manifolds

    For an oriented finite volume hyperbolic 3-manifold M with a fixed spin structure \eta, we consider a sequence of invariants {\tau_n(M; \eta)}. Roughly speaking, {\tau_n(M; \eta)} is the Reidemeister torsion of M with respect to the representation given by the composition of the lift of the holonomy representation defined by \eta, and the n-dimensional, irreducible, complex representation of SL(2,C). In the present work, we focus on two aspects of this invariant: its asymptotic behavior and its relationship with the complex-length spectrum of the manifold. Concerning the former, we prove that for suitable spin structures, log(\tau_n(M; \eta)) grows as -n^2 Vol(M)/4\pi, extending thus the result obtained by W. Mueller for the compact case. Concerning the latter, we prove that the sequence {\tau_n(M; \eta)} determines the complex-length spectrum of the manifold up to complex conjugation
