Fault Detection for Grid-Forming Inverters in Islanded Droop-Controlled AC Microgrids

In this paper, we develop an observer-based fault detection mechanism for grid-forming inverters operating in islanded droop-controlled AC microgrids. The detection scheme uses linear matrix inequalities as constraints with $\mathcal{H}_{-}/\mathcal{H}_{\infty}$ optimization to achieve sensitivity to faults and robustness against disturbances or parametric uncertainties. We explore a nonlinear inverter model formulation based on the less-restrictive one-sided Lipschitz and quadratic inner-boundedness conditions instead of the state-of-the-art formulation based on the Lipschitz condition. In this sense, we aim to overcome the sensitivity of observer-based schemes to the Lipschitz constant. The relation between these two formulations for fault detection is analyzed theoretically. We find the deterministic matrix expressions of different internal faults, including busbar, actuator, and inverter bridge faults. The performance of the proposed detection method is tested on an islanded AC microgrid with four grid-forming inverters and compared against the state-of-the-art nonlinear detection based on the Lipschitz condition. Most importantly, this method requires no additional sensors, a crucial advantage over many proposed solutions in the literature.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure

EIL baseado em projetos de criação de pesquisa que facilitam o aprendizado de inglês e a revitalização intercultural para comunidades equatorianas por meio das artes: a história da UAProyectkids

UAProyectKids is an EFL community outreach action research project based on the creation of artistic and pedagogical material for learning the English language from Ecuador’s local intercultural experiences. It was implemented at an art’s public university in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where students from different artistic careers take English classes in order to graduate with a B1 level, but also to engage in transdisciplinary practice and creation with this foreign language.  A collaborative methodological approach was used to determine how students should create these pedagogical resources while practicing their English in the process of creation throughout the semester. Results were measured by formative examinations and other instruments to record students’ perceptions on project based learning and collaborative sessions from the pedagogical innovation strategy. Furthermore, inter institutional cooperation and feedback enabled students to improve the quality of their projects, which included final products such as vocabulary flashcards, illustrated tales, audio books, and animated short films. Moreover, organized field trips to different communities and schools in the coastal and highland regions of Ecuador were able to guarantee the replication of the creative model for practicing English from relevant intercultural contexts that were worked with community members and children. This article is a must-read for any teacher or researcher interested in knowing about project-based learning experiences and its applications in the EFL field. It is also intended for institutions seeking to implement pedagogical innovations that help students awaken their collaborative learning by paying it forward to other learning communities.UAProyectKids es un proyecto de investigación-acción de extensión comunitaria EFL basado en la creación de material artístico y pedagógico para el aprendizaje del idioma inglés a partir de las experiencias interculturales locales de Ecuador. Se implementó una universidad pública de artes en Guayaquil, Ecuador, donde estudiantes de diferentes carreras artísticas toman clases de inglés para graduarse con un nivel B1, pero también para dedicarse a la práctica y creación transdisciplinaria con esta lengua extranjera. Se utilizó un enfoque metodológico colaborativo para determinar cómo los estudiantes deben crear estos recursos pedagógicos mientras practican su inglés en el proceso de creación a lo largo del semestre. Los resultados se midieron mediante exámenes formativos y otros instrumentos para registrar las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre el aprendizaje basado en proyectos y las sesiones colaborativas de la estrategia de innovación pedagógica. Las visitas de campo organizadas a diferentes comunidades y escuelas en las regiones de la costa y la sierra de Ecuador pudieron garantizar que el modelo creativo se replicara con el fin de practicar inglés desde contextos interculturales relevantes trabajados con niños, niñas y miembros de su comunidad. Cualquier profesor o investigador interesado en conocer la experiencia del aprendizaje basado en proyectos aplicado al campo de EFL debería leer este artículo. También está destinado a instituciones que buscan implementar innovaciones pedagógicas que ayuden a los estudiantes a despertar su aprendizaje colaborativo al devolverlo a otras comunidades de aprendizaje.UAProyectKids é um projeto de pesquisa-ação de alcance comunitário de EFL baseado na criação de material artístico e pedagógico para aprender a língua inglesa a partir de experiências interculturais locais do Equador. Além disso, viagens de campo organizadas a diferentes comunidades e escolas nas regiões costeiras e serranas do Equador foram capazes de garantir a replicação do modelo criativo para praticar o inglês a partir de contextos interculturais relevantes que foram trabalhados com membros da comunidade e crianças. Este artigo é uma leitura obrigatória para qualquer professor ou pesquisador interessado em conhecer experiências de aprendizagem baseadas em projetos e suas aplicações no campo de EFL. Evolution song patterns of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) during the breeding season 2012, 2013, and 2015 off the coast of Esmeraldas, Ecuador

During the breeding season southern male humpbacks whales (Megaptera Novaeangliae) emit a highly stereotyped, repetitive and progressively evolving sexual display called, “song”. The song is in constant state of change and represents a social component as whales are exchanging with one another. This exchange is seen as a repeated, dynamic cultural change occurring across multiple populations at large geographic scales. This investigation describes the cultural changes that occurred in the breeding season 2012, 2013 and 2015 off the coast of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. Songs were grouped together based on qualitative similarity of themes into song types that were assigned color name as arbitrary labels. Three different song types were recorded in the region in 2012, 2013 and 2015. This research aims to demonstrate the usefulness and value of using vocal patterns as a way of understanding the evolution of the song that exist in the Tropical East Pacific population of Humpback Whales.Durante la época de reproducción las ballenas jorobadas machos (Megaptera novaeangliae) producen una demostración vocal sexual repetitiva o canto. El canto está en constante estado de cambio, y definitivamente hay un componente social , ya que las ballenas copian de otras ballenas y hay un cambio cultural dinámico ocurriendo a través de múltiples poblaciones. Esta investigación describe los cambios culturales que se produjeron en la temporada de reproducción 2012, 2013 y 2015 frente a las costas de Esmeraldas, Ecuador. Las canciones se agruparon en base a la similitud cualitativa de sus temas y a cada tipo de canción se le asigno un color representativo para su identificación. Tres diferentes tipos de canciones se registraron en la región en el 2012, 2013 y 2015. Políticas de importación de soya y su impacto en la producción avícola en la provincia de Manabí

Comercio ExteriorLa economía de un país debe sustentarse en varios productos o actividades a fin de precautelar los riesgos ocasionados por los abruptos cambios del mercado que afectan, a veces en condiciones dramáticas, la comercialización de los mismos. El Ecuador básicamente fundamenta su economía en la producción y comercialización de productos agrícolas y en el petróleo. Sin embargo, en la continua búsqueda de diversificación, muestra incipiente desarrollo se basa en la explotación de minerales, en el sector ganadero y en la industria aún artesanal. Una actividad que ha ganado importancia es la Industria Avícola, en efecto, desde hace aproximadamente 20 años, en el Ecuador empezó a desarrollarse esta industria avícola, como otro rubro importante de ingresos para el país, en especial la del pollo, que muestra un futuro alentador, gracias, por un lado, a la buena aceptación que esta carne tiene entre la población local, y en los esfuerzos que los cultivadores de materias primas -maíz y soya- vienen haciendo para mejorar su productividad, lo que terminará por favorecer la competitividad de la cadena de valor. Futuro promisorio que será realidad en la medida en que los productores de pollo y huevo desarrollen procesos de innovación tecnológica e implementen alianzas estratégicas en toda la cadena, que les permitan competir en mejores condiciones con sus similares del Mercosur y del Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas, Alca. Esta industria ha basado su estrategia de desarrollo en la consolidación de la cadena agroindustrial a través de alianzas estratégicas que involucran a productores de las materias primas, industriales y abastecedoras de la industria avícola. Children learning of programming: Learn-Play-Do approach

Writing computer programs is a skill that can beintroduced to children and adolescents since early ages. Althoughchildren can gain skills in coding, there is a lack of motivationand easiness at the time to write logic structures. It raises thequestion, how can children be encouraged to code in a successfulenvironment of learning and fun?. To address this question,this paper shows an experimental approach called ”Learn-Play-Do” for introducing children in the programming. It shows that(1) it is feasible for children to learn about programming byfollowing the proposed approach with (2) encouraging levels oflearning, usefulness content and self-learning programming in(3) a developing country context. LA RELACIÓN FAMILIA-COLEGIO COMO BENEFICIO PARA LA ORIENTACIÓN DE LOS ADOLESCENTES Y SU VIDA EN SOCIEDAD PARTIENDO DEL MODELO FAMILIAR

RESUMEN En el colegio y la familia el adolescente necesita de educación y orientación integral, por parte tanto de sus progenitores como de los profesores y comunidad educativa en general, específicamente en la toma de decisiones que le ayuden en su vida y para lograr los propósitos de su formación. Sin embargo, no siempre existe una relación estrecha entre las dos instituciones como son hogar y colegio, para que el alumno sienta el apoyo suficiente para avanzar en sus metas y por no se pierda la comunicación y orientación necesaria en el desarrollo maduracional del estudiante. Cuando no existen estas relaciones iniciando con el aspecto afectivo, se convierte en un verdadero problema orientar adecuadamente a los adolescentes para un comportamiento social agradable que le permita ser aceptado y respetado en sociedad. Por esta se nos hace imperativo realizar un trabajo que nos permita dar cuenta de esta situación, para ello se ha planteado un objetivo que nos permite: Determinar el beneficio de la relación familia-colegio en la orientación de los adolescentes y su adecuada vida en sociedad partiendo del modelo familiar. Entre los métodos utilizados se encuentran inferencias, comparaciones y compilaciones desde el paradigma cualitativo para tabular los datos aportados por la observación. Dos encuestas se realizaron a los alumnos y familiares y se hizo el análisis de documentos y análisis y síntesis según la valoración de los instrumentos y el comportamiento de los sujetos en el segundo año de bachillerato de la unidad educativa fiscal “Dr. Wilfrido Loor Moreira” Parroquia Quiroga/Cantón Bolívar. THE FAMILY-SCHOOL RELATIONSHIP IN ORDER TO GUIDE ADOLESCENTS ON BEHALF OF LIFE IN SOCIETY FROM THE FAMILY MODEL ABSTRACT  Adolescents need education and guidance at the school and within the family, in order to develop decision-making and to achieve the purposes of education. However, there is not always a close relationship between the two institutions, so that the students feel enough support to advance their goals and therefore their orientation is lost. As a result, guiding adolescents towards accepted social behavior in society, and showing them correct patterns to follow for the new family they will organize is a problem. For this reason, in this paper it is the objective to examine the benefit of the family-school relationship for the orientation of adolescents towards the socially appropriate behavior of life in society from the family model itself. Inferences, comparisons and compilations were methods used from the qualitative paradigm to tabulate the data provided by observation. Design of a Marketing Plan for Products from the Inagro de Latacunga Agricultural Innovations Center

The objective of this research is to design a marketing plan for the development and growth of the INAGRO Agricultural Innovations Center of the Latacunga canton. The plan has been developed based on the theoretical foundations of theses related to the design and structuring of marketing plan models and information obtained from the field surveys of the selected population. Using a deductive and descriptive research method through qualitative and quantitative techniques allowed us to reach the right conclusion. In addition, for the collection of information from primary sources, the entire client population was used as the sample for the study. In this way, based on the information obtained, it was established that the organization is the object of analysis, which allows for promoting the design of strategies and thereby helps reach the proposed goal. Finally, through the evaluation matrices used, it was possible to denote in detail the factors that influence the final sales directly and indirectly. Resumen El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo diseñar un plan de marketing para el Centro de Innovaciones Agropecuarias INAGRO del cantón Latacunga, mismo que impulse el desarrollo y crecimiento de la organización que ha sido objeto de estudio cuyo desarrollo principalmente se ha fundamentado en sustentos teóricos de tesis relacionadas con el diseño y estructuración de modelos de plan de marketing e información obtenida de campo mediante el empleo de encuestas a una población considerablemente reducida. En este sentido, se consideró la utilización de metodología que comprendió los métodos de investigación de tipo deductivo y descriptivo, a través de técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas que nos permitieron llegar a conclusiones correctas acerca de la situación de la organización. Además, para la recopilación de información de fuentes primarias se determinó la utilización de toda la población de clientes como objeto de estudio y a su vez al miembro que ocupa la gerencia general. De esta manera, en base a la información obtenida, se estableció que la organización es objeto de análisis el cual permitirá impulsar el diseño de estrategias que permitan alcanzar la meta propuesta. Finalmente, mediante las matrices de evaluación empleadas se permitió denotar a detalle los factores que influyen directa e indirectamente como muestra del análisis sobre la intervención de variables que establecen las fortalezas, debilidades, oportunidades y amenazas de la organización.
