Schizophrenia, social practices and cultural values: A conceptual introduction
Schizophrenia is usually described as a fragmentation of subjective experience and the impossibility to engage in meaningful cultural and intersubjective practices. Although the term schizophrenia is less than 100 years old, madness is generally believed to have accompanied mankind through its historical and cultural ontogeny. What does it mean to be “mad”? The failure to adopt social practices or to internalize cultural values of common sense? Despite the vast amount of literature and research, it seems that the study of schizophrenia and of the psychoses is suffering from a generic disintegration. In this introduction, we offer an historical overview of the variety of theories and approaches to schizophrenia. We also provide an overview of how the authors in this volume attempt an integrative account where training, practice, theory and research are considered as parts of a larger whole. This is a varied and pluralistic volume, and it is up to the readers to make use of different chapters according to their own needs
SALECO coffee shop: business plan
The present project aims to identify the feasibility of integrate a specialty coffee shop in
a cooperative of coffee farmers in Toraja (Indonesia). The main objective is providing
new sources of income to the coffee farmers, which does not benefit fairly from the
increase demand of coffee consumption.
For this purpose, was collected information about the coffee market and performance
of the cooperative Perhimpunan Petani Kopi Toraja in 2019 before Covid-19 pandemic.
From data bases and market participants, as well from interviews and a survey.
This data was analyzed to support the strategy definition, using the PPKT’s strengths

knowledge from the experience in the industry. Capable to respond to the increase
demand of coffee consumption and search for experiences.
From the strategy definition it is conceptualized the business with focus on a specialty
coffee shop that provides a full experience, showing and teaching the full process from
the coffee plantation to the cup of coffee. Per consequence it makes the consumers
perceive the high quality of this specialty coffee, while enjoying a memorable experience
with all the senses involved, in the coffee shop and coffee tour. As following it is defined
the marketing variables to operationalize this concept, with a consequent plan of actions
to implement the project, with the economic analysis of the business plan. This economic
analysis evidence an estimation of positive results, concluding the viability to proceed

Intergenerationality in a Digital World: Proposals of Activities:Bilingual (EN and PT)
Media Education has gained momentum in recent years, but this area still needs to be improved, especially in terms of how it is perceived and implemented among citizens. This e-book is the result of this concern. The activities are diverse and include a digital component, without forgetting the connection to other non-digital devices in daily life. These 20 proposals of the e-book Intergeracionalidade e o mundo digital: Propostas de atividades/Intergenerationality in a Digital World: Proposals of activities intend to respond to the need that people, besides children in education, question, think and act on the interpellations of a mediatised world full of information available.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Ideology vs Perception of Economic Threat: the predictors of voting for far-right parties in Portugal
This study aims to contribute to the understanding of motivations for joining far-right political parties in Europe, with a specific focus on Portugal, by investigating the relationship between ideological beliefs and perception of economic threat. Through a correlational study (N = 279), we analyzed the predictors of voting for far-right parties in Portugal, using Political Tendency and Perception of Economic Threat as independent variables, and Willingness to Vote for a Far-Right Party as the dependent variable. Additionally, we explored the mediating role of variables such as Agreement with Anti-immigration, Nationalist, Traditionalist, and Authoritarian Stances. As expected, the results reveal that participants who lean more towards the right are more likely to vote for far-right parties. However, and more interestingly, this association is mediated by agreement with traditionalist and authoritarian positions, rather than with anti-immigration and nationalist positions. While perception of economic threat does not directly predict voting behavior, it moderates the relationship between political tendency and agreement with traditionalist positions (only), amplifying its influence among right-leaning individuals and further reinforcing support for far-right parties. These findings are discussed considering their implications for current empirical evidence and their relevance for policymakers and social actors seeking to address the rise of political extremism and promote a more harmonious and equitable society
Autonomy-connectedness in collectivistic cultures: An exploratory cross-cultural study among Portuguese natives, Cape-Verdean and Chinese people residing in Portugal
The present investigation focuses on a recent personality trait construct, Autonomy-connectedness. This concept has been proposed as a three-dimensional variable (self-awareness, sensitivity to others, and capacity to manage new situations), which intends to reflect a notion of autonomy more sensitive towards gender and culture, rather than a value based on individualism and masculinity. Two studies were conducted. Study I (N=185) aimed to adapt the Autonomy-Connectedness Scale (ACS-30) to Portuguese and evaluate its three dimensions among Portuguese population. The subscales showed satisfactory internal consistency and the results of Study I converge with previous studies concerning Autonomy-connectedness. Study II aimed to analyze and compare three different cultural groups, namely Portuguese natives as well as Chinese, and Cape Verdean immigrants residing in Portugal. Study II had a total of 90 participants (30 participants per nationality group). The findings contribute to further a theoretical framework in light of cross-cultural perspectives. Study I contributed to already existing findings on sex differences on SO subscale. Study II provides further evidence of a possible link between autonomy-connectedness and acculturation processes.
Structural credit risk models: analysis of listed companies in Portugal
Under the trend of financial globalization and considering the significant problems
experienced by companies and banks during the Global Financial Crisis, the interest in
credit risk measurement and management has increased substantially during the last
decade.
This study empirically investigates the structural credit risk approach, initiated with the
seminal studies of Black and Scholes (1973) and Merton (1974), which regard corporate
securities as contingent claims on a firm’s underlying assets. Throughout this study, we
analyse and implement three structural credit risk models – the original Merton model
(1974) and two commercial extensions of this model, the KMV model and the
CreditGrades model – in order to evaluate the default probabilities of 8 listed Portuguese
companies – EDP, Galp, Jerónimo Martins, Sonae, Nos, Cofina, Media Capital and
Teixeira Duarte – during the years 2013 to 2017.
The obtained results suggest that the annual default probabilities determined by the three
structural credit risk models are considerably different, taking into consideration the
several refinements made by the KMV and CreditGrades models to the original Merton
model. These two commercial extensions attempt to produce a more realistic output, that
better reflects real-world default dynamics. In fact, the discrepancy of results produced
by the 3 structural models intensifies, as the default probability determined by the
structural approach, for a given company, also increases. Moreover, among the 3
structural credit risk models considered in this study, CreditGrades is considered the most
reliable model as well as the one that displays the highest default probabilities, followed
by the KMV model.
dinâmicas do mundo financeiro.
