DIMENSION AND COLOR CLASSIFICATION OF OLIVE FRUIT WITH IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUESAbstractThe development of image processing technology appears in agriculture as well as in many other fields. Various classifications are carried out for fruits and vegetables. These are processes such as determining the harvest time according to their degree of maturity, deciding the way of collection and performing packaging operations according to their dimension. This study aims to classify the fruit according to its intended use in order to benefit more from the olive fruit that is important in industrial terms. In this study, olive fruit is classified as big, medium, and small according to its dimensions. Also classified as black and green according to their colors. This classification process was made in MATLAB environment and the KNN algorithm and decision trees was used. The results are obtained with Euclid and Manhattan methods used with the KNN algorithm and are given comparatively. According to the application results, 100% success was achieved in both methods in color classification. In dimension classification, 89.2% classification success was achieved in KNN algorithm and 86.7% in decision tree method. Keywords: Image processing, olive classification, KNN classification algorithm, decision tree

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the short-term outcomes achieved with off-pump bypass combined with the aortic no-touch technique where sequential anastomoses between the left internal mammary artery (LIMA), left anterior descending (LAD) and diagonal artery were employed. Material and methods: A total of 583 patients (mean age 63, 80% male) who underwent off-pump bypass (LIMA-diagonal-LAD sequential) were enrolled in this retrospective analysis. Data regarding the frequency of in-hospital postoperative complications, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and inotropic agent requirement, re-exploration for bleeding, and length of hospital stay were collected. Anastomosis patency was evaluated in 49 patients who underwent angiography. Results: 2.6% of the participants received inotropic agents and 0.5% required IABP. Frequency of acute renal failure, sternal wound infection, cerebrovascular event, respiratory failure, and hemodialysis was less than 1% in total. Among the 49 patients undergoing angiography at an average 41 ±17 months after bypass, the LIMA-LAD was patent in 98% and the LIMA-diagonal was patent in 84% of the subjects. Preoperative left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) and recent myocardial infarction (MI) prior to bypass were significantly correlated with postoperative IABP and inotropic agent requirement (r = 0.165, p < 0.01 for LVEF, p = 0.021 for recent MI). Conclusions: Off-pump bypass in combination with the aortic no-touch technique is associated with favorable postoperative outcomes including reduced postoperative stroke, renal dysfunction, IABP, and inotropic agent requirement compared to the results of previous randomized prospective studies published in the literature. © 2022 Termedia Publishing House Ltd.. Ethnic Differences in Analgesic Efficacy and Safety of Liposomal Bupivacaine Among Asian and Caucasian Surgical Patients: A Retrospective Matched-Cohort Analysis

BACKGROUND: Extended-release local anesthetics allow for prolonged analgesia after a single administration. Although Asians demonstrate different pain thresholds than Caucasians, whether they have different postoperative local anesthetic analgesic effects has not been elucidated. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to compare the postoperative analgesic efficacy of liposomal bupivacaine on Asian and Caucasian adults, and the incidence of local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) syndrome. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective, assessor-blinded cohort study of adult patients who received liposomal bupivacaine for surgery between 2012 and 2018. Asians and Caucasians were matched in a 1:1 ratio by clinical characteristics and surgery type. The primary outcome was pain management, defined as average pain score and opioid consumption during the initial 72 postoperative hours. The secondary outcome was the incidence of LAST syndrome. Reviewers were blinded to the ethnicity of the patient. RESULTS: After 1:1 propensity score matching, 130 Asians and 129 Caucasians were analyzed. All confounding variables were balanced, except for higher body mass index in the Asian group. Pain scores were lower (adjusted mean difference of -0.50 [97.5% CI, -0.98, -0.01]; superiority p = 0.011) and opioid consumption was not greater (geometric means ratio, 0.61 [97.5% CI, 0.36, 1.04]; non-inferiority p < 0.001) in Asian patients compared to Caucasian patients. Only one Caucasian patient was judged as having a potential case of LAST syndrome. The length of hospital stay and the incidence of additional complications were not different between the groups. CONCLUSION: Asian adults receiving liposomal bupivacaine as part of multimodal perioperative analgesia demonstrated lower pain scores compared to matching Caucasians, despite not having greater opioid consumption

Acculturation and suicidal ideation among Turkish migrants in the Netherlands.

More suicidal ideation and higher rates of attempted suicide are found in Turkish people when compared with the general population in Europe. Acculturation processes and related distress may explain an elevated risk of suicide. The current study investigates the association between acculturation and suicidal ideation among Turkish migrants in the Netherlands. The mediating effect of hopelessness and moderating effect of secure attachment are also examined. A total of 185 Turkish migrants living in the Netherlands were recruited through social media and through liaison with community groups. They completed an online survey including validated measures of suicidal ideation, hopelessness, acculturation and attachment style. Mediation and moderation analyses were tested using bootstrapping. Higher participation was associated with less hopelessness and less suicidal ideation. Greater maintenance of one's ethnic culture was associated with higher hopelessness and higher suicidal ideation. Greater participation was associated with less suicidal ideation particularly amongst those with less secure attachment styles. Turkish migrants who participate in the host culture may have a lower risk of developing suicidal thinking. Participation may protect against suicidal thinking, particularly among those with less secure attachment styles

Usability Enhancement for 3D CAPTCHA Model: Subjective Evaluation of Design Parameters on KLM Execution Time

    No full text
In a previous study, interactive 3D CAPTCHA was proposed as an alternative method to assist users to pass the CAPTCHA tests easily and pleasurably. In addition, usability issues were reported in the same study. This current study, introduces several design changes of interactive 3D CAPTCHA to overcome the usability issues. The new design was evaluated by testing the effects of parameters on KLM execution time within experimental studies. Test results showed that the most effective methods are using arrow keys, using underline characters, using high contrast between foreground and background of cube faces, excluding case sensitivity for input validation and removal of question marks from input boxes. The new design reduced KLM execution time from 45.9 seconds to 16.2 seconds
