Local subgroupoids II: Examples and properties

AbstractThe notion of local subgroupoid as a generalisation of a local equivalence relation was defined in a previous paper by the first two authors. Here we use the notion of star path connectivity for a Lie groupoid to give an important new class of examples, generalising the local equivalence relation of a foliation, and develop in this new context basic properties of coherence, due earlier to Rosenthal in the special case. These results are required for further applications to holonomy and monodromy

Holonomy, extendibility, and the star universal cover of a topological groupoid

[EN] Let G be a groupoid and W be a subset of G which contains all the identities and has a topology. With some conditions on G and W, the pair (G;W) is called a locally topological groupoid. We explain a criterion for a locally topological groupoid to be extendible to a topological groupoid. In this paper we apply this result to get a topology on the monodromy groupoid MG which is the union of the universal covers of Gx's.Mucuk, O.; Icen, I. (2003). Serum immone complexes in renal amyloidosis

Böbrek Hastalıkları ve Hipertansiyon VakfıAnkara Tıp Fakültesi Nefroloji Bilim Dalında, tanılan histolojik olarak konulmuş olan 32 renal amiloidozisli hasta ile 20 normal kişide serum immün kompleks değerleri ölçüldü. Serum immün kompleks değerleri amiloidozisli hastalarda normale göre belirgin olarak yüksek bulundu. Ayrıca primer, sekonder, ailevi akdeniz humması ve nedeni kesinlikle saptanamayan hastalar kendi aralarında karşılaştırıldı. Bu gruplar arasında, serum immün kompleks yoğunluğu açısından anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamadı.Serum immune complexes were measured in 32 patients with renal amyloidosis diagnosed histologically and 20 control subjects in the Section of Nephrology of Ankara Medical School. Serum immune complexe concentration in the patients with renal amyloidosis was higher than that normal subjects. There was no diagnostic value of serum immune complexes in the classification of the systemic amyloidosis

Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde Çizgi Roman Kullanımı: Teksas Tarihi

Comic books are not only a type of reading material but also a useful educative source for various lessons. Based on this, this study aims to examine the effects of comic books on middle school students’ motivation and academic success in social studies course. Quasi-experimental research design was used in the current study, in which 19 students were in experimental group and 20 students were in the control group. The data gathered by the motivation scale and the achievement test. The study lasted for three weeks in 2015-2016 educational year. Findings revealed that students, who were taught by the comic book, in the experimental group, reached significantly better achievement score and higher motivation than their counterparts, who were taught in traditional classroom environment.Çizgi romanlar sadece bir okuma metni değil aynı zamanda çeşitli dersler için faydalı bir eğitsel kaynaktır. Buna dayalı olarak çalışmanın amacı çizgi roman kullanımının ortaokul öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersindeki başarı ve motivasyonlarını incelemektir. Yarı-deneysel araştırma modelinin kullanıldığı çalışmada 19 öğrenci deney grubunda, 20 öğrenci ise kontrol grubunda yer almıştır. Veriler başarı testi ve motivasyon ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. 2015-2016 yılı eğitim döneminde yapılan çalışma üç hafta sürmüştür. Elde edilen bulgulardan çıkan sonuçlara göre çizgi romanların kullanıldığı grup, geleneksel yaklaşım ile öğretim yapılan gruba göre daha yüksek başarı elde etmiş ve motivasyonlarının daha çok arttığı belirlenmiştir

Nonconvulsive Status Epilepticus and Coma

Nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) is common in patients with coma with a prevalence between 5 and 48%. Nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) is an electroclinical state associated with an altered mental status (AMS) but lacking convulsive motor activity. It is difficult to diagnose in the obtunded/comatose patients. Such patients have often other serious medical conditions, and the diagnosis of NCSE is frequently delayed in these patients. Diagnosing NCSE demands a high degree of clinical suspicion and for that reason likely remains under-recognized. The most important question, however, is whether the treatment of NCSE in coma improves the outcome of these patients or not. In this review, we aimed to summarize the EEG patterns in NCSE to further delineate the borders between comatose forms of NCSE and coma-epileptiform discharges and to evaluate modified EEG criteria for NCSE in a coma
