Organic farming at the heart of the rural development policy. The example of Austria

    Get PDF
With about 10% of all Austrian farms being certified organic, Austria has one of the highest rates of organic farms in the European Union. Organic farms receive payments within the agri-environmental programme (AEP). With about 78% of farms participating in the AEP, Austria is also leading the field in the EU. The high participation rates can be seen as a result of a successful Austrian agricultural policy which aims to reconcile agricultural production, environmental protection, social cohesion and rural development. The orientation of farming towards the provision of environmental amenities may be indicative of future farm strategies, which are increasingly focused on broader rural development activities

    Get PDF
Feldspar is well known as a melting material at ceramics industries, the main specification is that the content of potassium must be higher than the calsium. On the other hand, Indonesian feldspar contains much calsium and lack of potassium so that ion exchange column system is used to increase the potassium content of the feldspar. The ion exchange column system was done by preparing the various pH and concentration of KCI. The type of minerals contained in feldspar had been characterized by XRD, whereas the changes of K+ and Cat concentrations were measured by analyzing the filtrate on undirect method by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometiy (AAS). Optimum condition of the ion exchange was reached at the concentration of KCI and pH, 15000 ppm and 11 respectively. In that condition the increase of potassium content was 1.070 mek while the decrease of calcium content was 1.15.104 mek. vi This dlocument is Undip Institutional Repository Collection.
