Optimistic chordal coloring: a coalescing heuristic forSSAform programs

    Get PDF
The interference graph for a procedure in Static Single Assignment (SSA) Form is chordal. Since the k-colorability problem can be solved in polynomial-time for chordal graphs, this result has generated interest in SSA-based heuristics for spilling and coalescing. Since copies can be folded during SSA construction, instances of the coalescing problem under SSA have fewer affinities than traditional methods. This paper presents Optimistic Chordal Coloring (OCC), a coalescing heuristic for chordal graphs. OCC was evaluated on interference graphs from embedded/multimedia benchmarks: in all cases, OCC found the optimal solution, and ran, on average, 2.30× faster than Iterated Register Coalescin

Virtualized execution runtime for FPGA accelerators in the cloud

FPGAs offer high performance coupled with energy efficiency, making them extremely attractive computational resources within a cloud ecosystem. However, to achieve this integration and make them easy to program, we first need to enable users with varying expertise to easily develop cloud applications that leverage FPGAs. With the growing size of FPGAs, allocating them monolithically to users can be wasteful due to potentially low device utilization. Hence, we also need to be able to dynamically share FPGAs among multiple users. To address these concerns, we propose a methodology and a runtime system that together simplify the FPGA application development process by providing: 1) a clean abstraction with high-level APIs for easy application development; 2) a simple execution model that supports both hardware and software execution; and 3) a shared memory-model which is convenient to use for the programmers. Akin to an operating system on a computer, our lightweight runtime system enables the simultaneous execution of multiple applications by virtualizing computational resources, i.e., FPGA resources and on-board memory, and offers protection facilities to isolate applications from each other. In this paper, we illustrate how these features can be developed in a lightweight manner and quantitatively evaluate the performance overhead they introduce on a small set of applications running on our proof of concept prototype. Our results demonstrate that these features only introduce marginal performance overheads. More importantly, by sharing resources for simultaneous execution of multiple user applications, our platform improves FPGA utilization and delivers higher aggregate throughput compared to accessing the device in a time-shared manner

Efficient VLSI Implementation of Soft-input Soft-output Fixed-complexity Sphere Decoder

    Get PDF
Fixed-complexity sphere decoder (FSD) is one of the most promising techniques for the implementation of multipleinput multiple-output (MIMO) detection, with relevant advantages in terms of constant throughput and high flexibility of parallel architecture. The reported works on FSD are mainly based on software level simulations and a few details have been provided on hardware implementation. The authors present the study based on a four-nodes-per-cycle parallel FSD architecture with several examples of VLSI implementation in 4 × 4 systems with both 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and 64-QAM modulation and both real and complex signal models. The implementation aspects and details of the architecture are analysed in order to provide a variety of performance-complexity trade-offs. The authors also provide a parallel implementation of loglikelihood- ratio (LLR) generator with optimised algorithm to enhance the proposed FSD architecture to be a soft-input softoutput (SISO) MIMO detector. To the authors best knowledge, this is the first complete VLSI implementation of an FSD based SISO MIMO detector. The implementation results show that the proposed SISO FSD architecture is highly efficient and flexible, making it very suitable for real application

To retain the best talent in order to stay in the Accounting Services Office (ASO), good human resource management is an important part to compete with competitors through its accountants, especially in Pekanbaru city. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) on turnover intention. The data collection method used in this study was through a questionnaire that was distributed to 122 accountants at KJA in Pekanbaru City which would be tested for the feasibility of the questionnaire before further analysis. The data analysis method used path analysis and sensitivity tests. The results of this study indicate that green training and development, green compensation, and green performance assessment each have a positive and significant effect on green organizational commitment. The variables of green training and development, green compensation, green performance assessment, and green organizational commitment each have a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. Sensitivity testing also showed consistent results. Green performance assessment has the biggest direct and indirect effect on turnover intention. Organizations pay attention to objectivity in evaluating employee performance so as not to lose the best employees in the organization. Organizations must also pay attention to green organizational commitment because it can mediate the three exogenous variables on turnover intention. Organizations must be able to maintain the commitment that has been embedded in the minds of employees so that they want to remain in the organization. Keywords: turnover intention, GHRM, path analysis, sensitivity tests, AS

ABSTRACT Innovation is the foundation of a company's life. The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of innovation on the birth rate of enterprises by using macro data in a country. Data on the birth rate of a company is used to see the effectiveness of a country's innovation in increasing the number of entrepreneurs in its country. The results showed that of the 16 OECD member countries that became the study sample it was found that the innovation activities undertaken by these countries, especially R&D activities, were not proven to be effective and applicable in creating new businesses. Meanwhile, the patent application only helps in terms of changing the direction of its influence, which was negative to positive initially, but not proven statistically significant.     Keyword : Innovation, R&D Expenditure, Number of Patent Applications, Birth Rate of Enterprises, OECD
