Performance evaluation of wake-up radio based wireless body area network
Abstract. The last decade has been really ambitious in new research and development techniques to reduce energy consumption especially in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Sensor nodes are usually battery-powered and thus have very limited lifetime. Energy efficiency has been the most important aspect to discuss when talking about wireless body area network (WBAN) in particular, since it is the bottleneck of these networks. Medium access control (MAC) protocols hold the vital position to determine the energy efficiency of a WBAN, which is a key design issue for battery operated sensor nodes. The wake-up radio (WUR) based MAC and physical layer (PHY) have been evaluated in this research work in order to contribute to the energy efficient solutions development.
WUR is an on-demand approach in which the node is woken up by the wake-up signal (WUS). A WUS switches a node from sleep mode to wake up mode to start signal transmission and reception. The WUS is transmitted or received by a secondary radio transceiver, which operates on very low power. The energy benefit of using WUR is compared with conventional duty-cycling approach. As the protocol defines the nodes in WUR based network do not waste energy on idle listening and are only awakened when there is a request for communication, therefore, energy consumption is extremely low. The performance of WUR based MAC protocol has been evaluated for both physical layer (PHY) and MAC for transmission of WUS and data. The probabilities of miss detection, false alarm and detection error rates are calculated for PHY and the probabilities of collision and successful data transmission for channel access method Aloha is evaluated. The results are obtained to compute and compare the total energy consumption of WUR based network with duty cycling. The results prove that the WUR based networks have significant potential to improve energy efficiency, in comparison to conventional duty cycling approach especially, in the case of low data-reporting rate applications. The duty cycle approach is better than WUR approach when sufficiently low duty cycle is combined with highly frequent communication between the network nodes
New Development of Anodic Electro-catalyst for Chlor-alkali Industry
Anodic electro catalysts are developed by using a titanium substrate coated with different compositions of mixed oxides, as it follows: ruthenium-titanium mixed oxides; ruthenium-titanium-tin mixed oxides; and ruthenium-titanium-iridium mixed oxides. The performance of electro catalysts was further evaluated by measuring coating thickness, studying coating morphology with microscope, identifying the presence of RuO2, TiO2, IrO2 and SnO2 in coating film, analyzing shape of individual crystal by XRD, performing accelerated life test and current efficiency test of the selected anode. The coating composition of 15% RuO2, 15% IrO2 and 70% TiO2 exhibited premium properties among the studied anodes
Comparative nutritional analysis between Vigna radiata and Vigna mungo of Pakistan
Vigna radiata (mung bean) and Vigna mungo (mash bean) of the family Fabaceae are among staple food in Pakistan. The experiments were conducted on these beans to determine the proximate composition such as moisture, ash, fibre, fat and protein content. The protein isolates from V. radiata and V. mungo was prepared and their functional properties (foaming, nitrogen solubility index and SDS gel electrophoresis) were also analyzed. All biochemical constituents were analyzed using official methods of analysis of the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists (2005). Results show that they have high protein content and play significant role in human nutrition. These beans have high nitrogen solubility and less fat content; which is a characteristic generally needed for healthy food. This research concluded that V. radiata has high percentage of moisture (9.74 ± 0.19), fat (1.35 ± 0.048) and protein content (22.5 ± 0.24) as compared to V. mungo (7.9 ± 0.06, 1.01 ± 0.01, 21.3 ± 0.24, respectively). 54 and 33% of protein isolates were made from V. radiata and V. mungo, respectively. The functional properties analysis enhances their acceptability in food industry.Key words: Vigna radiata, Vigna mungo, protein isolate, foam stability
Osthole: A Multifunctional Natural Compound with Potential Anticancer, Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Activities
Nature has always proved to be a significant reservoir of bioactive scaffolds that have been used for the discovery of drugs since times. Medicinal plants continue to be a solid niche for biologically active and therapeutically effective chemical entities, opening up new avenues for the successful treatment of several human diseases. The contribution of plant-derived compounds to drug discovery, either in their original or in the semi-synthetic derivative form, extends far back in time. This review aims to focus on the sources, biological, and pharmacological profile of a pharmacologically active plant-derived coumarin, osthole, which is an important component of numerous remedial plants such as Cnidium monnieri. Several studies have revealed that osthole possess pharmacological properties such as anticancer, antioxidant, anti-hyperglycemic, neuroprotective, and antiplatelet. Osthole has been reported to regulate various signaling pathways, which in turn modulate several apoptosis-related pro-teins, cell cycle regulators, protein kinases, transcriptional factors, cytokines, and growth receptors affiliated with inflammation, proliferation and several other ailments. Osthole is known to halt proliferation and metastasis of cancerous cells by arresting the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis. The data in this review paper supports the pharmacological potential of osthole but further experimentation, biosafety profiling and synergistic effects of this compound need to be focused by the researchers to understand the full spectrum of pharmacological potential of this therapeutically potent compound
Observation of decays into vector meson pairs , , and
Decays of to vector meson pairs , and
are observed for the first time using
\psip events accumulated at the BESIII detector at the BEPCII
collider. The branching fractions are measured to be , , and , for , , and ,
respectively. The observation of decays into a pair of vector
mesons , and indicates that the hadron
helicity selection rule is significantly violated in decays. In
addition, the measurement of gives the rate of doubly
OZI-suppressed decay. Branching fractions for and
decays into other vector meson pairs are also measured with improved precision.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
First Observation of the Decays chi_{cJ} -> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0
We present a study of the P-wave spin -triplet charmonium chi_{cJ} decays
(J=0,1,2) into pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0. The analysis is based on 106 million
\psiprime decays recorded with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron
positron collider. The decay into the pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 hadronic final state
is observed for the first time. We measure the branching fractions B(chi_{c0}
-> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0)=(3.34 +- 0.06 +- 0.44)*10^{-3}, B(chi_{c1} -> pi^0 pi^0
pi^0 pi^0)=(0.57 +- 0.03 +- 0.08)*10^{-3}, and B(chi_{c2} -> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0
pi^0)=(1.21 +- 0.05 +- 0.16)*10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical
and systematical, respectively.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Study of radiative decays into a vector meson
The decays () are studied with
a sample of radiative \psip\to\gamma\chi_{cJ} events in a sample of
(1.06\pm0.04)\times 10^{8} \psip events collected with the BESIII detector.
The branching fractions are determined to be: , , and . The decay is observed for the first time. Upper limits at the 90% confidence
level on the branching fractions for and \chict decays into these
final states are determined. In addition, the fractions of the transverse
polarization component of the vector meson in decays
are measured to be for , for , and for , respectively. The first errors are statistical and the second
ones are systematic.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure
Higher-order multipole amplitude measurement in
Using events collected with the BESIII detector at
the BEPCII storage ring, the higher-order multipole amplitudes in the radiative
transition are measured.
A fit to the production and decay angular distributions yields
and , where the first
errors are statistical and the second systematic. Here denotes the
normalized magnetic quadrupole amplitude and the normalized electric
octupole amplitude. This measurement shows evidence for the existence of the
signal with statistical significance and is consistent with
the charm quark having no anomalous magnetic moment.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
Study of and and
We study the decays of and to the final states
and based on a single
baryon tag method using data samples of
and events collected with
the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to

measured branching fractions of and
are in good agreement with, and much
more precise, than the previously published results. The angular parameters for
these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay
parameter for , , is found to be negative, different to the other
decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the "12\% rule" and isospin
symmetry in the and and
systems are tested.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures. This version is consistent with paper published

Observation of and confirmation of its large branching fraction
The baryonic decay is observed, and the
corresponding branching fraction is measured to be
, where the first uncertainty is statistical
and second systematic. The data sample used in this analysis was collected with
the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII double-ring collider with
a center-of-mass energy of 4.178~GeV and an integrated luminosity of
3.19~fb. The result confirms the previous measurement by the CLEO
Collaboration and is of greatly improved precision, which may deepen our
understanding of the dynamical enhancement of the W-annihilation topology in
the charmed meson decays
