    Industrial Ecology (IE) is a known concept worldwide; however, its dissemination is not an easy process. Industrial routines are embedded in unsustainable practices that are difficult to change. The complexity and uncertainties of new concepts are often approached with ignorance and misperception. Nevertheless, the integration of economic, environmental and social dimensions in industrial activities is increasingly perceived as a necessary condition for a sustainable society. The paper reflects on the theories of embeddedness, capabilities and transformation to practical experiences of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) in the Rotterdam Harbour and Industry Complex (HIC)

    При распространении мощного лазерного импульса вдоль внешнего магнитного поля в плазме возбуждается широкий спектр вистлерных мод с частотами ниже электронной циклотронной частоты, что приводит к появлению надтепловых электронов и установлению плато на первоначально максвелловской функции распределения. В результате развивается анизотропно-пучковая неустойчивость и происходит трансформация энергии быстрых электронов в энергию электростатических колебаний плазмы.При розповсюдженні потужного лазерного імпульсу вздовж зовнішнього магнітного поля в плазмі збуджується широкий спектр вістлерних мод з частотами нижче електронної циклотроної частоти, що призводить до появи надтеплових електронів і встановленню плато на первісно максвеллівській функції розподілу. У результаті розвивається анізотропно-пучкова нестійкість і відбувається трансформація енергії швидких електронів в енергію електростатичних коливань плазми.In the propagation of intense laser pulse along the external magnetic field in a plasma excited a wide range of whistler modes with frequencies below the electron cyclotron frequency, which leads to the suprathermal electrons and the establishment of a plateau on the original Maxwellian distribution functions. As a result, develops anisotropically-stream instability and a transformation of fast electron energy in the energy of electrostatic plasma oscillations

The final version is available from Elsevier via the DOI in this recordThis Virtual Special Issue (VSI) was proposed on par with the fascinating and exponentially growing development of smart enabling technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical System (CPS), Cloud Computing (CC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics (BDA), Digital Twin (DT), etc, which have greatly advanced the development of sustainable smart manufacturing throughout the lifecycle. The VSI addressed issues that were not properly or even incorrectly addressed in the existing literature. The authors of this VSI sought to introduce new knowledge and debates to lead the research directions to new paths. The editorial team invited well-established researchers in this area and received about 40 highly qualified submissions, out of which 12 were accepted after standard peer-review procedure of the Journal of Cleaner Production, which covered the three main themes defined in the “Call-for-Papers”. The contributing authors were from Brazil, China, Finland, Pakistan, Sweden, USA (in alphabetical order). The coordinators of this VSI are confident that the contents of this VSI will advance the science of digitalisation and will help society to make real progress towards sustainable societies

    First and second eye cataract surgery and driver self-regulation among older drivers with bilateral cataract: A prospective cohort study

    Background: Driving a car is the most common form of transport among the older population. Common medical conditions such as cataract, increase with age and impact on the ability to drive. To compensate for visual decline, some cataract patients may self-regulate their driving while waiting for cataract surgery. However, little is known about the self-regulation practices of older drivers throughout the cataract surgery process. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of first and second eye cataract surgery on driver self-regulation practices, and to determine which objective measures of vision are associated with driver self-regulation. Methods: Fifty-five older drivers with bilateral cataract aged 55+ years were assessed using the self-reported Driving Habits Questionnaire, the Mini-Mental State Examination and three objective visual measures in the month before cataract surgery, at least one to three months after first eye cataract surgery and at least one month after second eye cataract surgery. Participants' natural driving behaviour in four driving situations was also examined for one week using an in-vehicle monitoring device. Two separate Generalised Estimating Equation logistic models were undertaken to assess the impact of first and second eye cataract surgery on driver-self-regulation status and which changes in visual measures were associated with driver self-regulation status. Results: The odds of being a self-regulator in at least one driving situation significantly decreased by 70% after first eye cataract surgery (OR: 0.3, 95% CI: 0.1-0.7) and by 90% after second eye surgery (OR: 0.1, 95% CI: 0.1-0.4), compared to before first eye surgery. Improvement in contrast sensitivity after cataract surgery was significantly associated with decreased odds of self-regulation (OR: 0.02, 95% CI: 0.01-0.4). Conclusions: The findings provide a strong rationale for providing timely first and second eye cataract surgery for older drivers with bilateral cataract, in order to improve their mobility and independence
