    The Application Of Library 2.0 Concept For Enhancing The Library OPAC

    OPAC is the conventional library service that only allows for one-way flow of information. This project presents an overview of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 including its definition, technologies involved and sites currently advocated as examples of Web 2.0. Library 2.0 gives library users the power to share their experiences. Library 2.0 can be summarized as being user-driven that enables attracting users to enrich information resources. Library 2.0 concepts can be implemented to enhance OPAC and increase users' satisfaction especially for new generation. Enhanced OPAC involved the implementation of new function for search engine, the advancement in exchanging data with other application and services, additional content which is used to describe the materials in library collections, capability to utilize external content services, and the application of Web 2.0 tools. Users are able to get more descriptions about items in a library collection and will be able to contribute their opinions about the library collection in the future. Pilot survey shows that UUM Librarians are very satisfied with the concept of Enhanced OPAC and are willing to use it in the future

    Did Alex Have Language?

    This paper argues that the utterances made by the renowned talking parrot, Alex, were not only meaningful and sincere, they counted as a language. Three arguments are considered in favor of this claim: 1) Alex demonstrated the capacity for recursion, 2) Alex satised the Davidsonian requirements for a talking entity to have language, and 3) Alex satised the Searlean requirements for making speech acts. The paper concludes that the pieces of human language that Alex most readily acquired and those pieces that he lacked might point out a kind of evolutionary path by which our ancestors acquired the language that we now speak

    Perkhidmatan Perpustakaan secara elektronik menjadi semakin penting selaras dengan keperluan pengguna yang berbagai. Hak dan keperluan pengguna untuk memperolehi perkhidmatan yang samarata tidak boleh dipandang ringan. Batasan geografi dan masa tidak lagi menjadi masalah komunikasi yang tiada penyelesaian. Penggunaan aplikasi teknologi maklumat dan rangkaian komunikasi mengurangkan jurang ‘tawaran perkhidmatan’ di antara pengguna kampus induk dengan pengguna jarak jauh. Alternatif penyelesaian yang lebih mudah kepada pengguna dan juga kepada perpustakaan boleh disediakan setelah mengambilkira keperluan pembekal maklumat elektronik. Pelbagai kaedah telah digunakan oleh perpustakaan untuk memberikan perkhidmatan maklumat elektronik kepada pengguna dalam kampus dan juga kepada pengguna luar kampus. Terdapat pelbagai kaedah yang digunakan di antaranya ialah menggunakan perkhidmatan ‘dial-up’, kaedah akses terus, dan menggunakan perkhidmatan proxy. Kertas kerja ini akan menerangkan pengalaman Perpustakaan Sultanah Bahiyah, Universiti Utara Malaysia memberikan perkhidmatan sumber maklumat elektronik kepada pengguna di kampus induk, di Sintok Kedah dan juga kepada pengguna di luar kampus sama ada di dalam negara Malaysia ataupun di luar negara. Pengalaman ini diharapkan untuk dikongsi bersama di kalangan peserta seminar dan penambahbaikan perkhidmatan boleh dilaksanakan untuk kepentingan semua pengguna perpustakaan. Ianya bukanlah penyelesaian terbaik bagi menyediakan perkhidmatan maklumat elektronik pada masa kini, tetapi ianya relaven dan lebih ekonomik untuk digunakan di Universiti Utara Malaysia pada masa ini.     A Systematic Review of the Challenges in Teaching Programming for Primary Schools’ Students

    Programming and coding in primary education become solicitude globally today. Governments all over the world agreed on the importance of education towards workforce empowerment in the future for the country's development. As primary education is the foundation to produce future human resources, the government decided to make curricular changes starting with young learners.  The schooling system tries to adapt to the rapid changes caused by The Industrial Revolution 4.0 by introducing programming education at an early stage. The increased usage of automation, robots, and artificial intelligence in the industry nowadays makes people aware of the importance of mastering programming and coding skill to survive in their future careers. Through the learning process of programming and coding, young students start to be exposed to computational skill which involves critical thinking and imagining creatively. Programming and coding education promote computational thinking for young learners which includes problem-solving skills like deconstruction, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithms.  This paper examines research exploring the challenges faced by teachers, students, facilities, parents, and the government in the implementation of programming education in primary schools. The exploration was done through a systematic literature review of 20 articles published between the years 2018 and 2022. The selection of 20 articles required is based on the PRISMA guidelines to select papers by Moher et al. (2009). The findings provide insight into what has and has not been studied across a range of literature and the alignment with the broader context of programming education at the primary level. From this study, it can be identified that teachers’ competency, teachers’ digital pedagogy, students’ readiness, school facilities, parents’ support, and government educational planning play a very important role to make programming education for young learners successful.&nbsp

    Kritisisme Kant dan Studi Agama

    Studi agama adalah kajian mengenai agama sebagai sebuah sistem yang urgen dan mandiri. Dalam perjalannya, model studi agama ini terbelah menjadi dua model, yaitu model studi agama yang dogmatif dan studi agama yang empiris. Keterbelahan paham dalam studi agama ini tentu akan mengantarkan pada pemahaman agama yang reduktif, bahkan bisa menyeret pada kesalahpahaman yang berujung konflik. Untuk mengurai permasalahan-permasalan pelik dikotomi studi agama tersebut, artikel ini mencoba untuk mengambil pelajaran dari kritisisme Immanuel Kant. Kritisisme Kant ini dimulai dengan menaruh kesangsian atas pemikiran kaum rasionalis yang begitu saja menerima pengetahuan-pengetahuan apriori. Namun, di sisi lain, Kant masih berusaha untuk menyelidiki bagaimana hal-hal apriori sebagai ilmu pengetahuan itu mungkin? Hingga akhirnya Kant menunculkan putusan sintesis apriori sebagai salah satu moda pengetahuan dan berhasil menyudahi keterbelahan paham antara kelompok rasionalis dan emirisis. Rancang bangun studi agama harus beranjak dari dikotomi dokmatis dan empiris, lalu mengadopsi sintesis rasionalisme dan empirisisme. Sebagaimana peringatkan oleh Kant baik pemikiran apriori maupun aposteriori jika berdiri sendiri, masing-masing mempunyai kelemahan sendiri-sendiri. Begitupun dengan studi agama, model dokmatis dan model empiris jika berdiri sendiri, maka masing-masing akan berujung pada pemahaman yang reduktif.     This research aims to: investigate the influence of service quality on customers satisfaction, investigate the influence of service quality on customers loyalty, and investigate the influence of customers satisfaction on customers loyalty. The research type is explanatory research. Research population were customer at Workshop AHASS 0347 Batu that doing repair in there. Sample were 116 respondents that taken by using purposive sampling and data collection method in this research using questionnaire. Data analysis using descriptive analysis, and path analysis. The path analysis result shows that: service quality has influence on customers satisfaction with path coefficient (β) is 0,565 and the level of significance is 0,000 (p<0,05); service quality has influence on customers loyalty with path coefficient (β) is 0,394 and the level of significance is 0,000 (p<0,05); and customers satisfaction has influence on customers loyalty with path coefficient (β) is 0,242 and the level of significance is 0,011 (p<0,05). Based on the results of this research, Workshop AHASS 0347 Batu is suggested to improve the service quality and also maintain a good relationship to customers so that the customers are satisfied with the service of the company with the goal of keeping customers loyal to the company

    PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA VIDEO PEMBELAJARAN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR PADA MATA PELAJARAN VIDEOGRAFI MATERI NASKAH KELAS XI ANIMASI SMK NEGERI 2 SURABAYA

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan dan kefektifan media video pembelajaran untuk materi naskah pada mata pelajaran Videografi kelas XI Animasi SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya. Model pengmbangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah ADDIE yang memiliki lima tahapan yaitu, Analyze (Analisis), Design (Desain), Development (Pengembangan), Implementation (Implementasi), dan Evaluation (Evaluasi). Teknik pengumpulan data berupa kuisioner (angket) dan tes. Sedangkan Teknik analisis data tes menggunakan skala guttman dan skala likert serta teknik analisi data tes menggunakan uji-t paired sample test. Desain yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan pre-test post-test one group design dengan sasaran yaitu peserta didik kelas XI Animasi SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya. Hasil uji validasi ahli materi sebesar 96,67%, uji validasi media sebesar 92,50%, uji validasi desain pembelajaran sebesar 87,5% sedangkan hasil uji coba perorangan atau individu sebesar 85%, uji coba kelompok kecil sebesar 89%, dan uji coba kelompok besar sebesar 95,43%. Hasil uji validasi tersebut termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik karena berada pada rentang nilai 81%-100%, sehingga dapat dinyatakan bahwa pengembangan media video pembelajaran layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Kemudian pada hasil analisis data pretest-posttest memperoleh nilai sig.(2-tailed) 0,000 ≤ 0,05 dan nilai thitung sebesar 21,427 > 2,03224. Kemudian pada perhitungan rerata tes, diperoleh nilai rerata post-test yaitu 88,91 lebih tinggi dari rerata pre-test peserta didik yaitu 65,37. Maka artinya terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan pada peserta didik sebelum dan setelah diberikan media video pembelajaran. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah media video pembelajaran layak dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran peserta didik kelas XI Animasi SMK Negeri 2 Surabay

    Phenotypic signatures of urbanization are scale-dependent : a multi-trait study on a classic urban exploiter

    Understanding at which spatial scales anthropogenic selection pressures operate most strongly is a prerequisite for efficient conservation and management of urban biodiversity. Heterogeneity in findings on the strength and direction of urbanization effects may result from a lack of consensus on which spatial scales are most adequate when studying biotic effects of urbanization. Therefore, here, using the house sparrow (Passer domesticus) as model, we test the hypothesis that more than one spatial scale will explain variation among phenotypic stress markers. By applying a unique hierarchical sampling design enabling us to differentiate between local and regional effects of urbanization, we here show that the strength and direction of relationships with the percentage of built-up area - a simple structural measure of urbanization - vary among phenotypic stress markers and across the spatial range over which urbanization is measured. While inverse relationships with scaled body mass and bill height of adult house sparrows (Passer domesticus) were strongest when the degree of urbanization was quantified at city-level, similar relationships with corticosterone concentrations in feathers were only detected at the scale of individual home ranges. In contrast, tarsus length, wing length, and two measures of feather development were not significantly related to urbanization at any spatial scale. As the suite of phenotypic stress markers applied in this study revealed signatures of urbanization over a broad spatial range, we conclude that measures aimed at mitigating impacts of urbanization on free-ranging populations should best be implemented at multiple spatial scales too
