Effect of gelling agents on in vitro development of Amelanchier canadensis ‘Rainbow Pillar’

In vitro shoot multiplication responses of Amelanchier canadensis ‘Rainbow Pillar’ were studied on media solidifi ed with different gelling agents. The media were gelled either with 6.8 g l-1 fi brous agar-agar, or 50.0 g l-1 wheat starch, or 20.0 g l-1 Guar gum, or 15 g l-1 Isubgol or 50.0 g l-1 wheat starch mixed with 0.5 g l-1 Phytagel. Shoot cultures were grown for two months, thereafter the multiplication rates (number of newly developed shoots per explant) were counted and the length of shoots were measured. We found that the highest shoot multiplication of Amelanchier canadensis ‘Rainbow Pillar’ occurred on media gelled with Guar gum, while the longest shoots developed on media with Starch. About four-fold shoot number were obtained on media with Guar gum compared to the weakest results found on media gelled with Isubgol. Finally, considering all factors (shoot growth parameters, costs) the most economical gelling agent for Amelanchier canadensis ‘Rainbow Pillar’ was proved to be wheat starch among the tested alternatives which allows a 75.6% cost reduction

Renormalizable parameters of the sine-Gordon model

The well-known phase structure of the two-dimensional sine-Gordon model is reconstructed by means of its renormalization group flow, the study of the sensitivity of the dynamics on microscopic parameters. Such an analysis resolves the apparent contradiction between the phase structure and the triviality of the effective potential in either phases, provides a case where usual classification of operators based on the linearization of the scaling relation around a fixed point is not available and shows that the Maxwell-cut generates an unusually strong universality at long distances. Possible analogies with four-dimensional Yang-Mills theories are mentioned, too.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures. Revised form, to appear in Phys. Lett.

Automatization of contact pressure measurement between trunk orthosis and patient's body using a matrix tactile sensor

    No full text
Trunk orthosis affects trunk by a corrective-pressure mode with an objective to correct deformities (e.g. scoliosis). The effectiveness of this function depends on various factors, i.e. correct orthosis manufacture, correct application to patients and regular pressure corrective effect control. All these factors can be monitored by a system for measurement and evaluation of the contact pressure between the instrument and trunk in a real time and also by a so called “off line” system data recording. Presented article describes the application of made-to-measure sensor system TACTILUS (Sensor Products, USA) in different regimes (ambulance – A, home – H, combined – HA and multi-sensory ambulance – MA regime), testing of chosen static and dynamic matrix tactile sensor (MTS) parameters and results of the testing application between orthosis and patients' trunks

Attitude change is needed in design of timber structures. Truss girder made of timber elements wi th small cross sections can be used on large spans. Constructing structures with the use of these prefabricated trusses reduces the need of in-site work, and makes the use of ti mber structures economic. Rods of truss can be connected with the use of hardwood stud. On this way all steel components can be eliminated from the truss, so it can be used in aggressive environment as well. Dowel type connection, with hard wood stud is the subject of the present research. Hardwood studs were investigated individually and also as the part of separated connections of the truss girder. Jelen kutatás témája a facsapos kapcsolat. Kísérleteinkben facsapok, és egyes facsapos kapcsolatok teherbírását vizsgáltuk. A kísérletek eredményeit összevetettük a gyakorlatban elterjedt méretezési eljárásokkal

Estimation of Multichannel Magnetometer Noise Floor in Ordinary Laboratory Conditions

    No full text
The article deals with the method of the inherent noise estimation in each channel of a four channel relax-type magnetometer in general laboratory conditions. The day-long development of ambient magnetic field has been recorded and then the data were processed by correlation methods to separate inherent noises of the channels from ambient noise in the statistically best times. The method is applicable for noise estimation of any multi-channel sensoric system and also for the separation of deterministic and stochastic components of signals

    Noise Characteristics of Microwire Magnetometer

    No full text
Current trends in modernization and miniaturization of ferroprobe sensors lead to replacement of amorphous ribbon cores with magnetic microwires. The miniaturization often causes degradation in the parameters of sensors, so, considering measurement of weak magnetic fields, it is necessary to explore noise parameters, temperature drift and stability of the magnetometer output value. The article deals with analysis of microwire sensor noise characteristics based on the experimental data processing. Using one second periodograms, the linear spectral density was processed. Obtained data are compared with corresponding parameters of a relax-type ferroprobe magnetometer
