Życie i dzieło Walerego Pisarka przebiegło w wielce burzliwych dziejach Polski i świata. Na własnej skórze - dosłownie i w przenośni - doświadczył ich w pewnych okresach, był ich bacznym naukowym obserwatorem i analitykiem, a co jest szczególnie istotne, także kierownikiem - kapitanem i sternikiem zarazem - małego, ale znaczącego stateczka naukowego - Ośrodka Badań Prasoznawczych w Krakowie, w dwóch dekadach jego burzliwego i dynamicznego rozwoju, w latach 1969-1990. Po przejęciu sterów OBP, po tragicznej śmierci dyrektor Ireny Tetelowskiej, Walery Pisarek prowadził Ośrodek ze zwiększoną dynamiką w wytyczonym przez Tetelowską kierunku, który przypomniał w zbiorze "Szkice prasoznawcze" (Tetelowska 1972), twórczo rozwijając jej podejście w studiach własnych i współpracowników. Umocnił także i rozwinął pozycję Ośrodka na forum międzynarodowym w ramach AIERI i UNESCO.Professor Walery Pisarek lived in turbulent times and experienced almost everything significant to the turbulent history of Poland and the world, the fate of which became his own as well. He was an acute observer of the changes he analysed and described in his research papers. At the same time he was a captain and a skipper of a small but significant scientific ship, called the Press Research Centre (OBP) in Cracow, in the turbulent decades of its dynamic development from 1969 to 1990. After the tragic death of Irena Tetelowska, Walery Pisarek became the director of the Centre and led his research teams, within the framework of AIERI and UNESCO, strengthening the Centre’s international position and recognition

The strange trip to the zoo. In the search of another perspective

Artykuł jest próbą spojrzenia na wiersze dla dzieci Józefa Ratajczaka, w których pojawiają się zwierzęta w zoo (z tomików Między nami zwierzakami oraz Wycieczka do zoo). Lektura wybranych utworów pozwala zauważyć różny sposób postrzegania przez poetę zwierzęcych bohaterów oraz miejsca, jakim jest zoo. W artykule zostało także postawione pytanie o dorosłego nadawcę tekstu literackiego kierowanego do dziecka. Pozwala to zauważyć to, co łączy dzieci i zwierzęta w tekstach – ich głos zawsze jest zależny od wyobrażenia tego, kto mówi, od osoby dorosłej.The article tries to analyze children’s poems by Józef Ratajczak, in which there are animals in a zoo (from author’s poetry volumes Między nami zwierzakami and Wycieczka do zoo). Reading Ratajczak’s chosen works let us notice different ways of describing by the poet both animals and zoo. The article also poses the question of an adult writer who writes for children. The article helps us see what connects children and animals in a variety of literary texts – their voice always depends on imagination of adults

Homofobia w polskiej kulturze wizualnej jako „nieodkryta” reakcja na przemiany norm seksualnych w Polsce po 1989 roku

Homophobia in Polish visual culture  as an “undiscovered” response to the transformation  of sexual norms in Poland after 1989 This article discusses the basic characteristics of various artistic practices aimed at stigmatizing nonheterosexuality that occurred in Poland after 1989 in response to a transformation of sexual norms and the rising emancipation of LGBT people. The form and content of selected practices is discussed in detail. Furthermore, the article argues that these practices can be classified as a form of so-called New National Art and signals the maladjustment of the language used by Polish art critique, which foreignizes and pathologizes this kind of art. The author also touches on the phenomenon of deliberate “not discovering” of these practices by national art institutions. Finally, he shows why the absence of artistic practices focused on exclusion and stigmatization of LGBT people seems to be beneficial for both major Polish art institutions and the “excluded” artists.    Homofobia w polskiej kulturze wizualnej jako „nieodkryta” reakcja na przemiany norm seksualnych w Polsce po 1989 roku Artykuł omawia podstawowe cechy praktyk artystycznych piętnujących nieheteroseksualność, które wystąpiły w Polsce po 1989 roku na skutek przemian norm seksualnych i zapoczątkowania procesu emancypacji osób LGBT. Charakteryzuje formy, jakie ta twórczość przyjmuje oraz treści, jakie wyraża. Wskazuje również na zasadność zaklasyfikowania tego rodzaju twórczości jako odmiany tzw. Nowej Sztuki Narodowej. Sygnalizuje problemy związane z używanym przez polską krytykę sztuki języka, który egzotyzuje i patologizuje tego rodzaju twórczość. Odnosi się również do zjawiska zamierzonego „nieodkrywania” tych praktyk artystycznych przez krajowe instytucje sztuki. Wreszcie, wskazuje dlaczego ta celowa nieobecność praktyki artystycznej nakierowanej na wykluczanie i piętnowanie osób LGBT wydaje się korzystna zarówno dla najważniejszych polskich instytucji sztuki, jak i dla „wykluczonych” twórców

KRAKOWIAK IN CROATIAN AND SLOVENIAN LITERATURE

Well-known Polish form of artistic poetry, krakowiak, named after the city in Poland — Krakow, has come down from the folk literature of that region. From the Polish literature it enters in other Slavic literatures at the beginning of the 19th century. At that time it was especially popular in Croatian lyric poetry. In fact, krakowiak is a Polish national folk dance joined with song. It is performed in two quater note measure with syncope. In the middle of the 19th century Chopin installs krakowiak in classical music. In poetry it has a form of a quatrain with four hexameters and rhyme: abcb. Polish krakowiak was introduced in Croatian and Slovenian literature by Stanko Vraz (1810—1851). His famous collection of poems, Đulabije, printed in Zagreb in 1840, was written in the style and the manner of krakowiak

Differences dans la conceptualisation entre le francais et le polonais selon l'approche orientee-objets

It is well known that languages differ in how they describe the same piece of reality. In this paper, the author examine that the categorization of some events does not proceed in identical way in French and in Polish. On the basis of two nouns of French language analysed as an example, according to the object-oriented method, the author shows that in some cases one item could have few equivalents in other language. The lexicographical description was illustrated with the results deriving from two exemplary nouns (storm, frost). The selection of linguistic equivalents depends on the context of units. It causes great problems for the translator above all for the automatic translation. To chose the proper equivalent, the translator has to analyse a number of uses of unit and understand the concept expressed by the expression

Recent developments on (−)-colchicine derivatives: Synthesis and structure-activity relationship

(−)-Colchicine, an anti-microtubulin polymerization agent, is a valuable medication and the drug of choice for gout, Behçet’s disease and familial Mediterranean fever. It has a narrow therapeutic index due to its high toxicity towards normal cells. Nonetheless, numerous (−)-colchicine derivatives have been synthesized and studied for their structure-activity relationship and preferential toxicity. Different functional groups such as amides, thioamides, N-arylurea and 8,12-diene cyclic have been incorporated into (−)-colchicine, resulting in derivatives (with moieties) that include electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups. This review article focuses on recent developments in the chemical synthesis of (−)-colchicine derivatives, the substituents used, the functional groups linked to the substituents, the moieties and biological studies. Moreover, the current classification of derivatives based on the (−)-colchicine rings, namely ring A, B, and C (−)-colchicine derivatives, is discussed. This work demonstrates and summarizes the significance of (−)-colchicine derivatives in the biological field, and discusses their promising therapeutics for the future

Społeczno-kulturowe ramy pamięci w działaniach Towarzystwa Gimnastycznego „Sokół” na terenie Niemiec przełomu XIX i XX wieku

The article offers a new perspective on the role of the Sok.ł Gymnastic Society in the circles of Polish immigrants in Germany at the turn of the 20th century, presenting examples of Sok.ł’s activity in numerous places (including Berlin, Leipzig, Bochum) and the variety of forms of presentation used (poetry – song – drama; cultural performances). The theoretical considerations are preceded by a brief discussion of the history of the movement, with particular emphasis on the specificity of Sok.ł’s activities in the areas under Prussian rule. The use of new methodologies and studies of cultural memory and the categories of myth made it possible to reconstruct the social and cultural framework of memory. The analysis may be an incentive to revise the common views, allowing one to ask questions about the place and the role of collective memory, about the media of memory or the meaning of the phonic space
