Hermeneutics as innovative method to design the brand identity of a nanotechnology company

    Get PDF
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to develop an innovative branding method based on the hermeneutical approach and interpretive theory, to respond to the need of a simple and effective tool to build corporate identity through an industrial brand identity design and, being a new business, has been considered the brand perception of their stakeholders as the main input to analyze. Design/methodology/approach - The case study of a small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME), that produces nanomaterials for the business-to-business (B2B) industrial market, is used to design the new hermeneutic branding method. The methodology process has been structured in four phases that have marked the investigation and that correspond to four different levels of knowledge that, in succession, between them, constituted the so-called hermeneutic circle. Findings - This new approach allowed us to understand the social phenomenon related to the brand: its characteristic, context and the brand itself. Though hermeneutic analysis has confirmed that business strategy is only part of a more complex system of brand management, it must also consider the competitive environment and the views of the stakeholders. Practical implications - This paper contributes to research on industrial branding by adopting the hermeneutical approach in managerial practice. This paper is the first of its kind in detail modelling the design phases of a B2B brand, providing an operational tool for marketing specialists. Originality/value - There is a lack of research studies in the methods for designing industrial brands. The contribution of this paper lies in proposing a new interpretative approach that, acknowledging the different expectations of the stakeholder in the supply chain, allows to draw a B2B brand that communicates the system values of the product and company

The developed system aims to integrate and monitor information in Spanish of a user's social networks (Facebook, Twitter and web news of interest) through a single web application. It is based on three main components: a module that implements a wide variety of Natural Language Processing tasks (NLP), an information retrieval module which capture social networks data by means of crawling and stores processing results, and an application web that presents a user interface through which visualizing the information obtained in a suggestive and interactive way. Therefore, the proposed solution allows users to be updated and control their social media networks, being to able to be up-to-date about the information of their publications and their interests, in a single, simple and intuitive graphical interface.

    Get PDF
miniBELEN is a modular and transportable neutron moderated counter with a nearly flat neutron detection efficiency up to 10 MeV. Modularity implies that the moderator can be reassembled in different ways in order to obtain different types of response. The detector has been developed in the context of the Measurement of Alpha Neutron Yields (MANY) collaboration, which is a scientific effort aiming to carry out measurements of (a, n) production yields, reaction cross-sections and neutron energy spectra. In this work we present and discuss several configurations of the miniBELEN detector. The experimental validation of the efficiency calculations using 252Cf sources and the measurement of the 27Al(a, n) 30P reaction is also presented. This work has been supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad under grants FPA2017-83946- C2-1 & C2-2 and PID2019-104714GB-C21 & C22, the Generalitat Valenciana Grant PROMETEO/2019/007, both cofounded by FEDER (EU), and the SANDA project funded under H2020-EURATOM-1.1 Grant No. 847552. The authors acknowledge the support from Centro de Microanálisis de Materiales (CMAM) - Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, for the beam time proposal (Comissioning of neutron detector systems for (a,݊n) reaction measurements) with code P01156, and its technical staff for their contribution to the operation of the accelerator.Article signat per 41 autors/es: N. International Consensus Document on Obstructive Sleep Apnea

    Get PDF

A New Product with Formic Acid for Varroa jacobsoni Oud: Control in Argentina. I. Efficacy

    No full text
An organic product based on formic acid in a gel matrix was evaluated for use in Varroa control under autumnal climatic conditions in Argentina. Twenty colonies each received two gel packets with formic acid in two applications and numbers of falling mites were registered. After this treatment colonies received two other acaricides in order to compare efficacy. Average final efficacy in colonies treated with the organic product was 92% with a low variability. The gel matrix kept an adequate formic acid concentration inside the colonies with only two applications. This product is, therefore, a good alternative for Varroa control because it is organic, easy to use and presents a low variability in final efficacy between colonies. No queen, brood, or adult honeybee mortality was registered.Fil: Eguaras, Martin Javier. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas; Argentina. Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
