Finger-marked designs on ancient bricks in Myanmar

    Get PDF
Bricks with finger-marked designs are found at many of the ancient cities of Myanmar. A comparative study of the bricks, the designs, and the sites where they are found has been conducted over the last twenty-five years. Aerial photographs have long been used in Myanmar, but there has been no previous classification of the ancient settlements, numbering over one hundred, whose walls and/ or moats make them visible from the air

ACCOUNTNG ANALYSIS OF A GOODWILL INDUSTRIES INTERNATIONAL

    Get PDF
Goodwill Industries International has clean financial health. They are liquid after COVID but plan to invest in different services directed at digital skills. They have no long-term debt, which frees up cash for services and can be considered a strength. Weaknesses in the financials directly attributable to COVID were: a cancellation of 2 million dollars’ worth of pledges in 2020, a decrease of 40 million dollars of program expense over two years, and a drop in investment return to 2.88%. Program expense ratio and Fund-Raising ratio are excellent at 91% and 2.2% respectively in 2021. Weaknesses I find are mostly in presentation form. Dollar units are not explicit, and the annual report is not clear on being a separate entity from the other industries. It was hard to discern the correct units for this project, as they are not listed in any of the financials

    Visual Programming: Concepts and Implementations

    Get PDF
The computing environment has changed dramatically since the advent of the computer. Enhanced computer graphics and sheer processing power have ushered in a new age of computing. User interfaces have advanced from simple line entry to powerful graphical interfaces. With these advances, computer languages are no longer forced to be sequentially and textually-based. A new programming paradigm has evolved to harness the power of today's computing environment - visual programming. Visual programming provides the user with visible models which reflect physical objects. By connecting these visible models to each other, an executable program is created. By removing the inherent abstractions of textual languages, visual programming could lead computing into a new era

Ta Mok Shwe-gu-gyi Temple: Local Art in Upper Myanmar 11-17th century AD

    Get PDF
The article explores the relationship of a local tradition of nine Shwe-gu or “golden caves” and the 11 khayaing of Kyaukse, the rice fields that supplied Bagan. Drawing on survey and ongoing work at the Ta Mok khayaing Shwe-gu-gyi, we profile a local specificity essential to and yet far from the courts of 11th–17th century Bagan, Pinya and Inwa. In its multiple encasements of images and architecture, the Ta Mok Shwe-gu-gyi records a transition from the visual complexity of Bagan period gu to the more iconic structures of the Pinya and Inwa eras

Understanding lactation consultants\u27 evaluation of oral mechanism function and dysphagia in nursing neonates

    Get PDF
Infants with dysphagia are at increased risk for poor health and nutritional outcomes (Arvedson, 2008) if improperly diagnosed or managed. Communication between multidisciplinary team members is imperative for transition from screening to intervention. An overlap in scope of practice may exist between lactation consultants (LCs) and speech-language pathologists (SLPs). In order to facilitate multidisciplinary understanding and communication, this study was designed to understand how LCs evaluate oral mechanism function and dysphagia in breastfeeding neonates as well as their understanding of the role of SLPs in the management of dysphagia in neonates through a comparative multi-case, summative qualitative study. Participants described a multifaceted clinical assessment process. The participants’ understanding of the role and knowledge of SLPs in the care of neonates with idiopathic dysphagia was limited. The study identified a clear position for the SLP in the assessment and interpretation of craniofacial/orofacial function and dysphagia in newborns

After reading the Campus for four years, something has finally irked me enough to make a response. For a supposedly intellectual community such as our student body, the amount of close-minded, un-liberal opinions that keep surfacing is appalling

Precision Electroweak Constraints on Hidden Local Symmetries

In this talk we discuss the phenomenology of models with replicated electroweak gauge symmetries, based on a framework with the gauge structure [SU(2) or U(1)] x U(1) x SU(2) x SU(2).Comment: 7 pages, talk given at SCGT0
