Lepton anomalous magnetic moments from twisted mass fermions
We present our results for the leading-order hadronic quark-connected
contributions to the electron, the muon, and the tau anomalous magnetic moments
obtained with four dynamical quarks. Performing the continuum limit and an
analysis of systematic effects, full agreement with phenomenological results is
found. To estimate the impact of omitting the quark-disconnected contributions
to the hadronic vacuum polarisation we investigate them on one of the
four-flavour ensembles. Additionally, the light quark contributions on the
four-flavour sea are compared to the values obtained for physically
light quarks. In the latter case different methods to fit the hadronic vacuum
polarisation function are tested.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, Contribution to the 32nd International Symposium

Zeitverhalten hergeleitet. The electron dynamics of the Cu(111) surface with the physisorbed adsorbates
Xe, N2, and O2 and the chemisorbate benzene have been studied with time-
resolved two-photon photoemission (2PPE) spectroscopy.
The unoccupied electronic states in the physisorbate systems resemble the
image potential states of the clean metal surface. They are very sensitive to
the adsorbed species and the number of adsorbed layers, as shown for Xe and
N2. The influence is due to the continuum properties of the adsorbates (the
electron affinity, the dielectric constant, and the conduction band
dispersion) as described by the dielectric continuum model.
The studies are extended to the heterolayer systems N2/Xe and O2/Xe on
Cu(111). The lifetime of the first unoccupied state of O2/Xe/Cu(111) displays
a resonance-like dependence on the number of Xe spacer layers. This is
attributed to coupling with the lowest unoccupied O2 orbital. The unoccupied
states in N2/Xe/Cu(111) are image potential states with long lifetimes of up
to 1.6 ps. In addition to the decay to the substrate bulk they exhibit
intraband relaxation parallel to the surface. This is attributed to the
excitation of low-energetic N2 vibrations and is one of the first examples for
energy transfer from electrons in image potential states to nuclear
coordinates of adsorbates.
In benzene on Cu(111), the image potential states display a pronounced
dependence on the morphology of the C6H6 layers. An unoccupied state, which
acts as a final state in the 2PPE process, is assigned to the b2g level of
benzene.
It is additionally demonstrated that the exact excitation pathway of the 2PPE
process can be identified by the dependence of the signal on the laser light
polarization. Analytic expressions for the spectra and the temporal behavior
have been developed for various scenarios of direct excitation where
additional scattering processes are negligible
Leading-order hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon from N_f=2+1+1 twisted mass fermions
We present results for the leading order QCD correction to the anomalous
magnetic moment of the muon including the first two generations of quarks as
dynamical degrees of freedom. Several light quark masses are examined in order
to yield a controlled extrapolation to the physical pion mass. We analyse
ensembles for three different lattice spacings and several volumes in order to
investigate lattice artefacts and finite-size effects, respectively. We also
provide preliminary results for this quantity for two flavours of
mass-degenerate quarks at the physical value of the pion mass.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures, presented at the 31st International Symposium on

The kinetic temperature of Barnard 68
We have observed the nearby isolated globule Barnard 68 (B68) in the
(J,K)=(1,1) and (2,2) inversion lines of ammonia. The gas kinetic temperature
derived from these is T=10+-1.2 K. The observed line-widths are almost thermal:
DV=0.181+-0.003 km/s (DVtherm=0.164+-0.010 km/s), supporting the earlier
hypothesis that B68 is in hydrostatic equilibrium. The kinetic temperature is
an input parameter to the physical cloud model put forward recently, and we
discuss the impact of the new value in this context.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in A&A (Letters
Four-Flavour Leading-Order Hadronic Contribution To The Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment
We present a four-flavour lattice calculation of the leading-order hadronic
vacuum polarisation contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon,
, arising from quark-connected Feynman graphs. It is
based on ensembles featuring dynamical twisted mass fermions
generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration (ETMC). Several light
quark masses are used in order to yield a controlled extrapolation to the
physical pion mass. We employ three lattice spacings to examine lattice
artefacts and several different volumes to check for finite-size effects.
Incorporating the complete first two generations of quarks allows for a direct
comparison with phenomenological determinations of .
Our final result including an estimate of the systematic uncertainty
shows a good
overall agreement with these computations.Comment: 24 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in JHE
Extending the limits of globule detection -- ISOPHOT Serendipity Survey Observations of interstellar clouds
A faint MJysr bipolar globule was discovered with the
ISOPHOT 170 m Serendipity Survey (ISOSS). ISOSS J 20246+6541 is a cold
( K) FIR source without an IRAS pointsource counterpart.
In the Digitized Sky Survey B band it is seen as a 3\arcmin size bipolar
nebulosity with an average excess surface brightness of
mag/\arcsec . The CO column density distribution determined by
multi-isotopic, multi-level CO measurements with the IRAM-30m telescope agrees
well with the optical appearance. An average hydrogen column density of
cm was derived from both the FIR and CO data. Using a
kinematic distance estimate of 400 pc the NLTE modelling of the CO, HCO,
and CS measurements gives a peak density of cm. The
multiwavelength data characterise ISOSS 20246+6541 as a representative of a
class of globules which has not been discovered so far due to their small
angular size and low 100m brightness. A significant overabundance of
CO is found . This is likely due to
isotope selective chemical processes.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
