Materialdesign – An Interdisciplinary Material-based Design Approach

    Get PDF
The Institute for Materialdesign (IMD) understands itself as a hub for inspiration – analogue and digital methods are combined - along with an interdisciplinary context -  to create cross-material innovations. Ideas are frequently generated through the characteristics of the material itself, its qualities and its possibilities as well as its limits. Through the speculative combination of materials, transferring traditional processes of fabrication into innovative contexts, surprising results are achieved. Experimenting, questioning and researching become ever more important in an interdisciplinary context, especially at art college

CEMSThe multinational food processing company BRF S.A., which is routed in Brazil, faces the challenge to keep up with the recent innovations within the foodservice market. This work project is set up as a case study, which investigates how to digitize the relationship between BRF and its business clients, with the aim to uncover cost efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction. The focus of this project is to innovate the state of the art in sales and customer service by the usage of the Design Thinking methodology

ETHNOBOTANICAL STUDY IN TOLEDO-PR DISTRICT: AN APPROACH ABOUT USED SPECIES VARIABILITY WITH THE SAME POPULAR NAME

    Get PDF
The ethnopharmacological knowledge acquired throughout human evolution culminated in the development of high therapeutic relevance drugs. In ethnobotanical survey conducted in the city of Toledo in 2007, it was found that 79% of the population often use plants for medicinal purposes, mostly in the tea form, originated from own crops. They claimed that the consumption of these plants improved their health conditions. The plants mainly cited were: balm, chamomile and marcela. This study aimed to verify if the population habits related to medicinal plants have changed, also  proceed a literature review to find out if the most used plants have their biological activity scientifically proven and looking for  reports of homonymous to the most cited medicinal plants. There was small change in the species used by the population. In the literature, it was found out that different species are used with the same popular name, in practice, it was detected the use of two different species, Piper amalago L. (UNOP 7972) and Piper mikanianum (Kunth) (UNOP 7971), for  the medicinal plant commonly known as pariparoba, although none of them is recognized for the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia

    Darstellung und Kristallstruktur von Bis-(N-Methymydroxylamido(1-)-O.N)(N-methyl-N-oxo-dithiocarbamato-O.S)-oxo-molybdän(VI)

The reaction of [MoO2((CH3)HN-O)2] and N-methylhydroxylammoniumchloride in an aqueous suspension with CS2 yields red crystals of the analytical composition MOC4H14N3O4S2. The crystal structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with cell constants a= 1333.2(3), b = 814.2(2), c = 2179.8(6) pm, β = 105.42(2)°, and Z = 8. The final R-value is 4.5% for 2965 unique reflexions. The structure consists of two crystallographically independent neutral complexes of molybdenum(VI). The geometry about the molybdenum is a distorted pentagonal bipyramid containing a terminal oxygen atom, two N-methylhydroxylamido(1-) ligands coordinated via the O-and N-atoms and an N-methyl-N-oxo-dithiocarbamato(2-) ligand forming a planar five membered ring with the molybdenum(VI) center (O,S-coordination)

    Transforming AdaPT to Ada

This paper describes how the main features of the proposed Ada language extensions intended to support distribution, and offered as possible solutions for Ada9X can be implemented by transformation into standard Ada83. We start by summarizing the features proposed in a paper (Gargaro et al, 1990) which constitutes the definition of the extensions. For convenience we have called the language in its modified form AdaPT which might be interpreted as Ada with partitions. These features were carefully chosen to provide support for the construction of executable modules for execution in nodes of a network of loosely coupled computers, but flexibly configurable for different network architectures and for recovery following failure, or adapting to mode changes. The intention in their design was to provide extensions which would not impact adversely on the normal use of Ada, and would fit well in style and feel with the existing standard. We begin by summarizing the features introduced in AdaPT

Programming in a proposed 9X distributed Ada

The studies of the proposed Ada 9X constructs for distribution, now referred to as AdaPT are reported. The goals for this time period were to revise the chosen example scenario and to begin studying about how the proposed constructs might be implemented. The example scenario chosen is the Submarine Combat Information Center (CIC) developed by IBM for the Navy. The specification provided by IBM was preliminary and had several deficiencies. To address these problems, some changes to the scenario specification were made. Some of the more important changes include: (1) addition of a system database management function; (2) addition of a fourth processing unit to the standard resources; (3) addition of an operator console interface function; and (4) removal of the time synchronization function. To implement the CIC scenario in AdaPT, the decided strategy were publics, partitions, and nodes. The principle purpose for implementing the CIC scenario was to demonstrate how the AdaPT constructs interact with the program structure. While considering ways that the AdaPt constructs might be translated to Ada 83, it was observed that the partition construct could reasonably be modeled as an abstract data type. Although this gives a useful method of modeling partitions, it does not at all address the configuration aspects on the node construct

    Transforming AdaPT to Ada9x

    Get PDF
How the concepts of AdaPT can be transformed into programs using the object oriented features proposed in the preliminary mapping for Ada9x are described. Emphasizing, as they do, the importance of data types as units of program, these features match well with the development of partitions as translations into Abstract Data Types which was exploited in the Ada83 translation covered in report R3. By providing a form of polymorphic type, the Ada83 version also gives support for the conformant partition idea which could be achieved in Ada83 only by using UNCHECKED CONVERSIONS. It is assumed that the reader understands AdaPT itself, but the translation into Ada83 is briefly reviewed, by applying it to a small example. This is then used to show how the same translation would be achieved in the 9x version. It is important to appreciate that the distribution features which are proposed in current mapping are not used or discussed in any detail, as those are not well matched to the AdaPT approach. Critical evaluation and comparison of these approaches is given in a separate report

O Video Music Awards e a consolidação do videoclipe como gênero

    Get PDF
The paper will analyze the Video Music Awards, the most important award dedicated to the music video, in order to comprehend its role in the consolidation of the music video as a genre. The concept of genre will be seen as a sociocultural phenomena characterized by the structure of the cultural products as well as the social contexts in which these structures arise. The main proposal is to understand how VMA was essential to the process of the music video consolidation and how it helped to turn a television channel - MTV - into a music video synonym for many years. Aside from analyzing all VMA editions until 2012, the paper will discuss the concept of genre and the role of the contemporary awards in the legitimation of the cultural products.
