renormalized perturbation theory.Comment: 38 page
Types of Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine: A Review
Two basic and clinical researches accomplished during the recent years on embryonic and adult stem cells constituted a mutation in regenerative therapy. These cells can be used for treating some degenerative diseases. Between them, age-related functional defects, hematopoietic and immune system disorders, heart failures, chronic liver injuries, diabetes, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, arthritis and muscular, skin, lung, eye, and digestive disorders, aggressive and regressive cancers can be treated by cell therapies. This review focused on types of stem cells used in regenerative medicine
Algebraic QFT in Curved Spacetime and quasifree Hadamard states: an introduction
Within this chapter (published as [49]) we introduce the overall idea of the
algebraic formalism of QFT on a fixed globally hyperbolic spacetime in the
framework of unital -algebras. We point out some general features of CCR
algebras, such as simplicity and the construction of symmetry-induced
homomorphisms. For simplicity, we deal only with a real scalar quantum field.
We discuss some known general results in curved spacetime like the existence of
quasifree states enjoying symmetries induced from the background, pointing out
the relevant original references. We introduce, in particular, the notion of a
Hadamard quasifree algebraic quantum state, both in the geometric and
microlocal formulation, and the associated notion of Wick polynomials.Comment: v3: better discussion of Unitary Equivalence, thanks to comments of

Thermal Evolution of the Non Supersymmetric Metastable Vacua in N=2 SU(2) SYM Softly Broken to N=1
It has been shown that four dimensional N=2 gauge theories, softly broken to
N=1 by a superpotential term, can accommodate metastable non-supersymmetric
vacua in their moduli space. We study the SU(2) theory at high temperatures in
order to determine whether a cooling universe settles in the metastable vacuum
at zero temperature. We show that the corrections to the free energy because of
the BPS dyons are such that may destroy the existence of the metastable vacuum
at high temperatures. Nevertheless we demonstrate the universe can settle in
the metastable vacuum, provided that the following two conditions are hold:
first the superpotential term is not arbitrarily small in comparison to the
strong coupling scale of the gauge theory, and second the metastable vacuum
lies in the strongly coupled region of the moduli space.Comment: 32 pages, 30 figure
White dwarfs with planetary remnants in the era of Gaia - I. Six emission line systems
White dwarfs with emission lines from gaseous debris discs are among the rarest examples of planetary remnant hosts, but at the same time they are key objects for studying the final evolutionary stage of planetary systems. Making use of the large number of white dwarfs identified in Gaia Data Release 2 (DR2), we are conducting a survey of planetary remnants and here we present the first results of our search: six white dwarfs with gaseous debris discs. This first publication focuses on the main observational properties of these objects and highlights their most unique features. Three systems in particular stand out: WD J084602.47+570328.64 displays an exceptionally strong infrared excess that defies the standard model of a geometrically thin, optically thick dusty debris disc; WD J213350.72+242805.93 is the hottest gaseous debris disc host known with \mbox{T_{\mathrm{eff}}}=29\,282 K; and WD J052914.32-340108.11 in which we identify a record number of 51 emission lines from five elements. These discoveries shed light on the underlying diversity in gaseous debris disc systems and bring the total number of these objects to 21. With these numbers we can now start looking at the properties of these systems as a class of objects rather than on a case-by-case basis
Stationary Black Holes: Uniqueness and Beyond
The spectrum of known black-hole solutions to the stationary Einstein
equations has been steadily increasing, sometimes in unexpected ways. In
particular, it has turned out that not all black-hole-equilibrium
configurations are characterized by their mass, angular momentum and global
charges. Moreover, the high degree of symmetry displayed by vacuum and
electro-vacuum black-hole spacetimes ceases to exist in self-gravitating
non-linear field theories. This text aims to review some developments in the
subject and to discuss them in light of the uniqueness theorem for the
Einstein-Maxwell system.Comment: Major update of the original version by Markus Heusler from 1998.

Consumption of both low and high (-)-epicatechin apple puree attenuates platelet reactivity and increases plasma concentrations of nitric oxide metabolites: A randomized controlled trial
We hypothesised that consumption of flavanol-containing apple puree would modulate platelet activity and increase nitric oxide metabolite status, and that high flavanol apple puree would exert a greater effect than low flavanol apple puree. 25 subjects consumed 230 g of apple puree containing 25 and 100 mg epicatechin (low and high flavanol apple puree, respectively) and aspirin (75 mg) in random order. Measurements were made at baseline, acutely after treatment (2, 6 and 24 h), and after 14 d of treatment. Low flavanol apple puree significantly attenuated ADP and epinephrine-induced integrin-β3 expression 2 h and 6 h after consumption and ADP and epinephrine-induced P-selectin expression within 2 h of consumption. High flavanol apple puree attenuated epinephrine and ADP-induced integrin-β3 expression after 2 and 6 h. ADP and epinephrine-induced integrin-β3 expression was significantly attenuated 2, 6 and 24 h after consumption of aspirin, whilst 14 d aspirin consumption attenuated collagen-induced P-selectin expression only. The plasma total nitric oxide metabolite conc. was significantly increased 6 h after consumption of both low and high flavanol apple purees. In conclusion, consumption of apple purees containing ≥25 or 100 mg flavanols transiently attenuated ex vivo integrin-β3 and P-selectin expression and increased plasma nitric oxide metabolite conc. in healthy subjects, but the effect was not enhanced for the high flavanol apple puree
Quantum gravitational corrections for spinning particles
We calculate the quantum corrections to the gauge-invariant gravitational potentials of spinning particles in flat space, induced by loops of both massive and massless matter fields of various types. While the corrections to the Newtonian potential induced by massless conformal matter for spinless particles are well-known, and the same corrections due to massless minimally coupled scalars [Class. Quant. Grav. 27 (2010) 245008], massless non-conformal scalars [Phys. Rev. D 87 (2013) 104027] and massive scalars, fermions and vector bosons [Phys. Rev. D 91 (2015) 064047] have been recently derived, spinning particles receive additional corrections which are the subject of the present work. We give both fully analytic results valid for all distances from the particle, and present numerical results as well as asymptotic expansions. At large distances from the particle, the corrections due to massive fields are exponentially suppressed in comparison to the corrections from massless fields, as one would expect. However, a surprising result of our analysis is that close to the particle itself, on distances comparable to the Compton wavelength of the massive fields running in the loops, these corrections can be enhanced with respect to the massless case
