    Soil Stabilisation Using Rice Husk Ash (RHA) in Marine Clay

    Marine clay has contributed many problems due to the reaction and behavior of the soil according to the different conditions for instances dry and wet period. Stabilisation of marine clay is studied by chemically using rice husk ash (RHA) as the stabilizers. Investigation includes the evaluation of such properties of the soil as compaction, strength, and other engineering properties of expansive soil as well as marine clay. Upon the determination of these parameters, the optimum amount of the stabilizers and the best curing period of time and temperature are studied. The test results showed that the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) increased about 75% after 7 days. However, the results indicated that if the curing period is less than 7 days, the UCS value of the RHA treated samples are higher than those of natural samples. This suggests that the pozzolans reaction between the clay soils and RHA had achieved optimum stabilisation at 8% ofRHA content and 7 days curing time

    A single-aperture duplex antenna with dual circular polarizations

    This article proposes a novel design of a compact single-aperture dual circular polarization (CP) antenna with integrated duplexing functions using a phase controllable coupled resonator structure. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first report of a multifunctional CP antenna with integrated duplexing performance and dual polarizations. The two orthogonal CPs are realized for the two respective filtering channels. Each channel contains a phased filtering power divider forming the dual-feed to a patch to achieve right-hand or left-hand CP (RHCP or LHCP). The required output phases of the dividers are realized by varied configurations of the coupled k/2resonator pairs. A duplex-CP-antenna with RHCP/ LHCP at the downlink/uplink (2.45/2.7 GHz) is designed, fabricated, and measured. It achieved a 3dB AR bandwidth of 3.2/7.7% at the downlink/uplink and an isolation better than 20 dB. Meanwhile, the antenna showed expected second-order filtering characteristics at both channels

    Magnetic resonance imaging evaluation of the effect of tualang honey in breast tissue among postmenopausal breast cancer patient treated with anastrazole in HUSM

    Objective: To investigate whether the combination treatment with Tualang honey (TH) influences the background parenchymal enhancement (BPE) at breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in postmenopausal women with history of breast cancer treated with anastrozole. Methodology: A total of 22 patients were recruited for both control (1 mg anastrozole daily) and intervention (1 mg anastrozole daily + 20 mg TH daily) groups from Oncology Clinic, Hospital USM, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan. Inclusive criteria included postmenopausal women with unilateral breast cancer stages I, II, or III, oestrogen receptor (ER) positive and/or progesterone receptor (PgR) positive and receiving anastrazole as treatment for or less a year were included. The BPE of contralateral breast before and 6 months after treatment was compared side by side using sign test. Results: A decrease in BPE was noted in 10% of women (p = 0.317) on anastrozole treatment, resulted in a category change of BPE from moderate to mild. The combination of anastrozole and TH treatment showed a decrease in BPE in 42% (p = 0.034) of postmenopausal breast cancer women. BPE decreased by one category of assessment in four women and by two categories of assessment in one woman. Conclusions: The combination of TH and anastrozole is more efficacious than anastrozole alone in decreasing breast BPE of ER-positive postmenopausal breast cancer women and thus reducing the risk of cancer recurrence. These findings further support the medicinal value of TH

    Notational analysis on tactical passing skills used by collegiate players in an indoor hockey masum tournament

    The study aimed to determine the relationship of frequency for wall, diagonal and square passing with the performance for men and women team. Eighteen teams (man = 11; woman = 7) involved in this study. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between frequency of use wall pass, diagonal pass and square pass with team performance. Results of the study showed a significant relationship between the frequency of the use of passes to the achievement of the team in both categories. The significant value of wall pass, diagonal pass and square pass for men and women teams is (p < 0.05). Positive relationship indicated team that use more wall, diagonal and square passing was a successful team in tournament. The findings for this study could be used by trainers and individuals who involved in the player development and coaches education.Keywords: indoor hockey; passing skills; wall pass; diagonal pass; square pas

    Miniaturized 38ghz circular substrate integrated waveguide band pass filter using low temperature co-fired ceramic technology

    This study presents design approach for realizing miniaturized Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) Band Pass Filter (BPF) using Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) technology at TMRND’s LTCC Lab. Design method for the SIW BPF is based on the circular cavity structure with four pole Chebyshev and operating at center frequency of 38 GHz. This SIW BPF is an important part of the Remote Antenna Unit (RAU) transceiver for the Radio over Fiber (RoF) system. Two types of circular SIW BPF have been designed and investigated in term of performance and structure size which are planar SIW BPF and compact SIW BPF. Both SIW BPF were developed using LTCC Ferro A6M materials with dielectric constant of 5.8, loss tangent of 0.002 and metallization of gold. The insertion loss for planar SIW BPF and compact SIW BPF were measured at 6.2 dB and 6.3 dB, respectively. The passband return losses for both types of the SIW BPF were measured at more than 10 dB. The size of the compact SIW BPF is 6.94×6.94 mm2 meanwhile size for planar SIW BPF is 12.15×4.145 mm2. The size of the compact SIW BPF is reduced to nearly 10% compared to a planar SIW BPF structure

    Informational constraints on interceptive actions of elite football goalkeepers in 1 v1 dyads during competitive performance

    The aim of this study was to examine whether perceptual variables can provide informational constraints for the goalkeepers to intercept the ball successfully in 1v1 dyads. Video images of 42 actions (1v1 in direct shots) were selected randomly from different matches and divided into conceded goals (n=20) and saved actions (n=22) to investigate interceptive actions of 20 goalkeepers in the English Premier League in season 2013-2014. Time to Contact (TTC) of the closing distance gap between shooter and goalkeeper was obtained by digitising actions in the 18-yard penalty box. Statistical analyses revealed that, in sequences of play resulting in an intercepted shot at goal, goalkeepers closed down outfield players in the X axis, whereas when a goal was conceded, there was a significantly delayed movement by goalkeepers toward the shooters in this plane. The results of canonical correlations showed that a decreasing distance between a shooter and goalkeeper, and accompanied reduction in relative interpersonal velocity followed a temporal pattern. Findings of this study showed how perception of key informational constraints on dyadic system relations, such as TTC, interpersonal distance and relative velocity, constrain elite goalkeepers' interceptive actions, playing an important role in successful performance

    Realitas menjadikan banyak inspirasi untuk dapat direfleksikan kedalam bentuk karya seni. Manusia tidak bisa lepas dari beberapa persoalan yang kadang kala diluar kehendak dan batas pemikirannya, ada tiga persoalan dalam kehidupan yang menjadi misteri yang seringkali tidak terjawab, yaitu kelahiran, kematian dan cinta. Pemilihan judul Garis Bimbang dalam Lukisan adalah sebagai bentuk gagasan yang merepresentasikan salah satu persoalan kehidupan yaitu mengenai cinta sebagai inspirasi dan motivasi penulis dalam menciptakan kekaryaan seni rupa. Proses penciptaan karya lukis kali ini secara garis besar bertemakan tentang cinta sesuai dengan pengalaman dan pemahaman penulis. Ketertarikan tentang cinta sebagai gagasan berkarya dilatar belakangi akan kegelisahan penulis ketika berfikir tentang cinta yang pada proses dan kenyataannya begitu kompleks. Cinta kepada lawan jenis, orang tua, alam atau bahkan Tuhan akan menjadi peluang-peluang kreatif baru yang tidak terbatas untuk dipikirkan dan dikaryakan penulis. Praktek berkarya seni lukis penulis meliputi brainstorming, eksplorasi, improvisasi, pembentukan dan finishing karya. Evaluasi dalam sebuah proses kekaryaan dilakukan untuk kelanjutan proses berikutnya, meliputi proses berfikir dan eksekusi sehingga diharapkan karya lukis selanjutnya lebih berkualitas. Garis dipilih penulis sebagai elemen artistik utama dalam merepresentsikan gagasannya, garis dibuat dan ditorehkan berulang-ulang menggunakan material cat akrilik pada bidang kanvas. Pengulangan garis pada lukisan dimaksudkan sebagai bentuk representasi kebimbangan penulis mengenai cinta, seperti halnya ketika seseorang berdzikir atau berdo‟a pun, kemungkinan mereka juga bimbang akan seberapa besar cintanya kepada Tuhan-nya. Sehingga tidak berlebihan jika proses penciptaan karya penulis diibaratkan seperti halnya berdo‟a
