    Evidence for a 1.2-shift mechanism of the 1-5-η-cycloheptatrienyl moiety with respect to the central iron atom of the title compound is presented together with absolute assignments of the ^(13)C n.m.r. chemical shifts of the C_(7)H_(7) ring. A low-temperature rocking motion of both rings can be frozen out at -70 °C

    Survey research with families in the context of pediatric chronic health conditions : key considerations and future directions

    Self-report family functioning measures play a critical role in advancing our understanding of how families are impacted by, and adapt to, the demands of childhood health conditions. In this article, we present key considerations when conceptualizing, assessing, and analyzing dynamic family processes in research; discuss related implications for selecting instruments; and provide an update on the evidence base of self-report family functioning measures. Researchers need to consider theory, definitions of the family, informants, instruments, and procedural and data analytic issues when designing family research. Examples of questionnaires assessing general family functioning, dyadic relationships, and family functioning within the context of pediatric health conditions are provided. Additional evidence of validity, reliability, clinical utility, and cultural sensitivity of these measures is needed within pediatric chronic illness populations. Future research should include multiple family members and utilize varied assessment methods to obtain a comprehensive understanding of family functioning in the context of pediatric health conditions

    The impedance of thin dense oxide cathodes

    The impedance is derived for a dense layer electrode of a mixed conducting oxide, assuming that the electronic resistance may be ignored. The influence of layer thickness, oxygen diffusion and surface exchange rate on the ‘General Finite Length Diffusion’ expression is evaluated. The thickness dependence is tested for a series of thin, dense layer electrodes of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (LSCF) deposited on a Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95 electrolyte by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). A minimum thickness is required to avoid the influence of contact points of the contacting Pt-gauze and sheet resistance, which is about 1 μm for the studied LSCF electrodes. LEISS surface analysis indicates that PLD deposition process easily leads to a significant Cr contamination of the LSCF surface. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis indicates that the influence on the exchange rate of this Cr-contamination is still negligible

    Without public goods and under fairly standard assumptions, in Hammond and Sempere (J Pub Econ Theory, 8: 145–170, 2006) we show that freeing migration enhances the potential Pareto gains from free trade. Here, we present a generalization allowing local public goods subject to congestion. Unlike the standard literature on fiscal externalities, our result relies on fixing both local public goods and congestion levels at their status quo values. This allows constrained efficient and potentially Pareto improving population exchanges regulated only through appropriate residence charges, which can be regarded as Pigouvian congestion taxes

    Lattice Monte Carlo Simulations with Two Impurity Worldlines

    We develop the impurity lattice Monte Carlo formalism, for the case of two distinguishable impurities in a bath of polarized fermions. The majority particles are treated as explicit degrees of freedom, while the impurities are described by worldlines. The latter serve as localized auxiliary fields, which affect the majority particles. We apply the method to non-relativistic three-dimensional systems of two impurities and a number of majority particles where both the impurity-impurity interaction and the impurity-majority interaction have zero range. We consider the case of an attractive impurity-majority interaction, and we study the formation and disintegration of bound states as a function of the impurity-impurity interaction strength. We also discuss the potential applications of this formalism to other quantum many-body systems.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
