    Three-phase relative permeability

    Get PDF
CER56ATC24.November, 1956.Technical note 375.Journal of petroleum technology, 1956.The results of three-phase relative permeability tests on nine water-wet consolidated Berea sandstone samples are presented as composite ternary diagrams showing iso-perms of oil, water and gas. Capillary pressure control was exercised over flow of gas and oil in the presence of water. The water saturations ranged from 17 to 71 percent pore volume. A method of calculating both the oil and water permeability's of a three-phase system from the easily measured gas relative permeability is presented

Ideas for Improving the Field of Machine Learning: Summarizing Discussion from the NeurIPS 2019 Retrospectives Workshop

This report documents ideas for improving the field of machine learning, which arose from discussions at the ML Retrospectives workshop at NeurIPS 2019. The goal of the report is to disseminate these ideas more broadly, and in turn encourage continuing discussion about how the field could improve along these axes. We focus on topics that were most discussed at the workshop: incentives for encouraging alternate forms of scholarship, re-structuring the review process, participation from academia and industry, and how we might better train computer scientists as scientists. Videos from the workshop can be accessed at https://slideslive.com/neurips/west-114-115-retrospectives-a-venue-for-selfreflection-in-ml-researc

PicU, a second serine protease autotransporter of uropathogenic Escherichia coli

Escherichia coli is the major Æ;tiological agent of urinary tract infections (UTI). Like diarrhoeagenic strains of E. coli , uropathogenic isolates possess virulence determinants that distinguish them from commensal strains and allow them to produce the clinical manifestations associated with UTI. Several autotransporter proteins have been associated with the ability of E. coli , and other Gram-negative bacteria, to cause disease. Recently, we described the existence within uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) strains of Sat, a toxin of the serine protease autotransporter of Enterobacteriaceae (SPATE) subfamily. Using features common to proteins secreted via the autotransporter pathway we have identified nine additional autotransporter proteins from the genomic sequence data of UPEC CFT073. Surprisingly, two additional members of the SPATE subfamily were identified. One protein, designated PicU, was homologous to the Pic protein identified in Shigella flexneri and enteroaggregative E. coli . The PicU protein was expressed and investigated for functional activity.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/72222/1/S0378-1097_03_00862-0.pd
