    Get PDF
The motivation of the present work is to develop the finiteness property in our work [1, 2, 3, 4] by using Garay’s condition [5]. The mean curvature flow and the finiteness property of the cylindrical surfaces in E3 are investigated. Additionally, the linear deformation of such surfaces is studied. Finally, the translation surfaces are discussed

AbstractA new effective adsorbent was developed for a selective extraction and determination of lanthanum from aqueous media by use of inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. The new adsorbent was based on activated carbon modified with Schiff’s base derived from diethylenetriamine and 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (AC-DETADHBA). Isotherm and kinetic models were systematically investigated to evaluate the analytical potential of the AC-DETADHBA phase toward La(III) by employing a batch adsorption technique. Surface properties of AC-DETADHBA were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. The maximum static adsorption capacity was determined to be 144.80mgg−1 at pH 6, providing that the adsorption capacity of La(III) was improved by 61.79% with the AC-DETADHBA phase as compared to the carboxylic acid derivative of activated carbon after only 1h contact time. Adsorption isotherm results demonstrated that the adsorption process was mainly monolayer on a homogeneous adsorbent surface, confirming the validity of Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. Data obtained from kinetic models study indicated that the adsorption of La(III) onto the AC-DETADHBA phase obeyed a pseudo second-order kinetic model. In addition, results of thermodynamic investigation also revealed that the adsorption mechanism of AC-DETADHBA toward La(III) is a general spontaneous process and favorable. The effect of several coexisting metal ions displayed that the recovery of La(III) was not affected by the medium composition containing either individual or mixed metals. Finally, the newly proposed method gave satisfactory results for the determination of La(III) in environmental water samples

ZnO either nanoparticles or nanorods were synthesized via sol-gel technique. Many factors were studied and optimized in order to obtain different morphological structures of nano-ZnO. Effect of reaction time (3, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours) has been studied to optimize the best preparation condition. Reducing agent (NH3, NaOH and KOH) is one of the factors affect on morphological structures, which has been studied in this work. Other effect has been studied in this work is zinc precursors such as Zn(NO3)2, ZnAc2, ZnCl2, and ZnBr2. The morphological structures of prepared ZnO were revealed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the aspect ratios were calculated. x-ray diffraction (XRD) patternsexposed a highly crystallized wurtzite structure and used for identifying phase structure and chemical state of ZnO under different preparation conditions. Keywords: sol-gel, morphological structures, reducing agent, SEM, preparation conditions

The growing dependence on eTextbooks and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has led to an increase in the amount of students' learning data. By carefully analyzing this data, educators can identify difficult exercises, and evaluate the quality of the exercises when teaching a particular topic. In this study, an analysis of log data from the semester usage of the OpenDSA eTextbook was offered to identify the most difficult data structure course exercises and to evaluate the quality of the course exercises. Our study is based on analyzing students' responses to the course exercises. We applied item response theory (IRT) analysis and a latent trait mode (LTM) to identify the most difficult exercises .To evaluate the quality of the course exercises we applied IRT theory. Our findings showed that the exercises that related to algorithm analysis topics represented the most difficult exercises, and there existing six exercises were classified as poor exercises which could be improved or need some attention.Comment: 6 pages,5 figure

In this paper, we study the differential geometry of the transversal intersection curve of two surfaces in Minkowski 3-space, where each pair satisfies the following types spacelike-lightlike, timelike-lightlike and lightlike-lightlike. Surfaces are generally give by their parametric or implicit equations, then the surfacesurface intersection problem appear commonly as parametric-parametric, parametric-implicit and implicitimplicit. We derive the Frenet frame, Darboux frame, curvature, torsion, normal curvature and geodesic curvatures of transversal intersections for all types of intersection problems. We show the intersection curve may be spacelike (timelike, lightlike or pseudo null) curve. Finally, we show our methods by given several examples.

Influence of microclimatic ammonia levels on productive performance of different broilers' breeds estimated with univariate and multivariate approaches

Background and Aim: Birds litter contains unutilized nitrogen in the form of uric acid that is converted into ammonia; a fact that does not only affect poultry performance but also has a negative effect on people's health around the farm and contributes in the environmental degradation. The influence of microclimatic ammonia emissions on Ross and Hubbard broilers reared in different housing systems at two consecutive seasons (fall and winter) was evaluated using a discriminant function analysis to differentiate between Ross and Hubbard breeds. Materials and Methods: A total number of 400 air samples were collected and analyzed for ammonia levels during the experimental period. Data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate statistical methods. Results: Ammonia levels were significantly higher (p0.05) were found between the two farms in body weight, body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, and performance index (PI) of broilers. Body weight; weight gain and PI had increased values (p0.05). Test of significance of discriminant function analysis did not show a classification based on the studied traits suggesting that they cannot been used as predictor variables. The percentage of correct classification was 52% and it was improved after deletion of highly correlated traits to 57%. Conclusion: The study revealed that broiler's growth was negatively affected by increased microclimatic ammonia concentrations and recommended the analysis of broilers' growth performance parameters data using multivariate discriminant function analysis

Families of maps Singularities and its Gauss maps

Abstract: This paper mainly studies the Singularities of smooth mapping. The singularities of the families of Gauss maps corresponding to the family of mappings are studied and the shape of these families and their singularities using mathematica program are illustrated and plotted. By changing the control parameters we find some singular points for the family which can be classified according to the famous theorems in singularity theory. Using the Hessian matrix we can obtain the singular points and singular set. Geometrically these singularities can be plotted but the classification of them can't be a valuable for all points. Using the terminology of level set which tell us the type of singular points like folds (level sets is start line), cusp (level set is semicubical parabola). In general there is no existance of some famous types. where ∆ is the discriminant set and it is a plan. Remark 4 The family of contours is given from z = k (constant), and the family of zero level set corresponding to k = 0 are given through the figurer

Gonadal infection: a risk factor for the development of adolescent varicocele

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine whether a relationship between previous gonadal infections and adolescent varicocele occurrence exists.Patients and methods: All adolescents who presented with varicocele at Tanta Urology Department during the period from January 2006 to March 2011 were included in this study. Patients were evaluated for age, clinical presentation, previous history of epididymitis or epididymoorchitis, laterality, and grading of varicocele. Examination of testicular consistency and ultrasound measurement of testicular volume were carried out for all patients to define those with testicular atrophy. Results: Sixty-three boys were included in this study. The mean patients’ age was 15.6 years (range: 10–18, SD; 1.6 years). Twenty-nine (44.4%) boys had signs of testicular atrophy (testes are soft in consistency with ultrasounddetected volume smaller than that normal for age) either unilateral or bilateral. About 28.6% of patients (18 boys) had a history of epididymitis or epididymo-orchitis either associated with mumps or of unknown etiology. Of those patients, six boys had previous history of single attack, 10 boys had two attacks, and two boys had more than two attacks of epididymo-orchitis. A significant positive correlation was seen between the incidence of epididymo-orchitis attacks and the grade of varicocele (rs=0.63, 95% confidence interval: 0.21–0.85, P<0.05). Patients with past history of epididymo-orchitis were significantly more liable (4.1 times) of developing testicular atrophy as compared with those without a history of epididymo-orchitis (95% confidence interval: 1.517–11.097, P<0.05).Conclusion: History of epididymo-orchitis is significantly a potential risk factor for the development of adolescent varicocele with subsequently higher risk for testicular atrophy. We advise routine ultrasonographic examinations in patients with previous history of epididymo-orchitis both for possible early detection of varicocele and to avoid testicular atrophy in this cohort of patients. However, more studies on a larger scale are still warranted. Keywords: adolescent varicocele, epididymo-orchitis, testicular atroph

AbstractGeophysical tools such as magnetic, gravity and electric resistivity have been used to delineate subsurface structures, groundwater aquifer around Cairo–Belbies Desert road. A dipole–dipole section was measured at the central part of the study area with 2100m length and electrode spacing 50m for greater penetration depth. The results of the inverse resistivity data indicate that the study area includes two groundwater aquifers at different depths. The shallow aquifer water is near the surface and the deep aquifer lies at depth of about 115m and exhibits low resistivity values ranging from 20 to 100ohmm.One hundred and fifty-two gravity stations were measured using Autograv gravimeter (CG3), different gravity corrections (drift, elevation and latitude corrections) were applied. The corrected data represented by Bouguer anomaly map were filtered into regional and residual gravity anomaly maps. The residual gravity map indicates that the area is dissected by many faults with NW-SE, N-S, E-W and NE-SW trends. One hundred and fifty-three ground magnetic measurements are collected using two Proton magnetometers (Envimag). The corrected magnetic data are represented by total magnetic intensity map that was reduced to the magnetic pole. 3D magnetic modeling was applied to detect the depth of basaltic sheet and basement complex. The results indicated that the elevation of upper surface of basalt is ranging from 148 to −153m and the elevation of lower surface of basalt is ranging from 148 to 269m

    Get PDF
ZnO and Sb-doped ZnO nanoparticles were successfully prepared using sol-gel technique. Different concentrations of triethanolamine (TEA) were utilized as the preparation procedure to act as complexing agent that enhances the doping probability of the formed Sb-doped ZnO nanopowder. Thick films of the prepared nanopowders were fabricated with spinner coating. Morphological characteristics, phase structure, chemical composition, thermal stability, and optical properties of the prepared nanopowders were measured and analyzed. The average crystallite size of ZnO and ZnO:Sb powders ranged between 19–28 nm according to the XRD calculations and TEM observations. The gas sensitivity of the homemade devices based on Sb-doped ZnO nanoparticles towards O2 and CO2 gases as a function of temperature was measured and compared with undoped ZnO films. The gas sensitivity of the films was greatly improved after doping with Sb and reached its maximum value of ~86% for O2 gas at 93:7 wt% of Zn:Sb
