A Strategic Approach to International Training: A Contingency Based Global Training Model
Training issues are complex regardless of the size or location of the actors involved. As firms make their way up the ladder of internationalization, the contextual nature of training as well as the limitations of its generalizability can inhibit its effectiveness in sharing between the various organizational sub-units, particularly those with different national cultures. In light of this, a model matching appropriately designed training regimens with the suitable type of international business operation is proposed in this paper. A number of propositions are also drawn from the model. The paper concludes with a discussion of the implications of the model and possible future research
A Photometric Survey for Variables and Transits in the Field of Praesepe with KELT
The Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope (KELT) project is a small aperture,
wide-angle search for planetary transits of solar-type stars. In this paper, we
present the results of a commissioning campaign with the KELT telescope to
observe the open cluster Praesepe for 34 nights in early 2005. Lightcurves were
obtained for 69,337 stars, out of which we identify 58 long period variables
and 152 periodic variables. Sixteen of these are previously known as variable,
yielding 194 newly discovered variable stars for which we provide properties
and lightcurves. We also searched for planetary-like transits, finding four
transit candidates. Follow-up observations indicate that two of the candidates
are astrophysical false positives, with two candidates remaining as potential

String Theory on Warped AdS_3 and Virasoro Resonances
We investigate aspects of holographic duals to time-like warped AdS_3
space-times--which include G\"odel's universe--in string theory. Using
worldsheet techniques similar to those that have been applied to AdS_3
backgrounds, we are able to identify space-time symmetry algebras that act on
the dual boundary theory. In particular, we always find at least one Virasoro
algebra with computable central charge. Interestingly, there exists a dense set
of points in the moduli space of these models in which there is actually a
second commuting Virasoro algebra, typically with different central charge than
the first. We analyze the supersymmetry of the backgrounds, finding related
enhancements, and comment on possible interpretations of these results. We also
perform an asymptotic symmetry analysis at the level of supergravity, providing
additional support for the worldsheet analysis.Comment: 24 pages + appendice
Black holes in three dimensional higher spin gravity: A review
We review recent progress in the construction of black holes in three
dimensional higher spin gravity theories. Starting from spin-3 gravity and
working our way toward the theory of an infinite tower of higher spins coupled
to matter, we show how to harness higher spin gauge invariance to consistently
generalize familiar notions of black holes. We review the construction of black
holes with conserved higher spin charges and the computation of their partition
functions to leading asymptotic order. In view of the AdS/CFT correspondence as
applied to certain vector-like conformal field theories with extended conformal
symmetry, we successfully compare to CFT calculations in a generalized Cardy
regime. A brief recollection of pertinent aspects of ordinary gravity is also

Dietary Oxidative Balance Scores and Biomarkers of Inflammation among Individuals with and without Chronic Kidney Disease
Background: Oxidative stress and inflammation are proposed mechanisms of nonspecific kidney injury and progressive kidney failure. Higher dietary oxidative balance scores (OBS) are associated with lower prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods: We investigated the association between OBS and biomarkers of inflammation using data from the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) study. Nutrient estimates from the Block Food Frequency Questionnaires were used to define tertiles of 11 pro- and antioxidant factors. Points for each OBS component were summed, with a higher score indicating predominance of antioxidant exposures. Multivariable linear regression models were used to estimate the association between OBS and biomarkers of inflammation (interleukin-6 [IL-6], interleukin-8 [IL-8], interleukin-10 [IL-10], fibrinogen, C-reactive protein [CRP], white blood cell count, and cystatin C). An interaction term was included to determine if associations between OBS and inflammatory markers differed between individuals with and without CKD. Results: Of 682 participants, 22.4% had CKD. In adjusted models, OBS was associated with CRP and IL-6. For every 5-unit increase in OBS, the CRP concentration was –15.3% lower (95% CI: –25.6, –3.6). The association of OBS with IL-6 differed by CKD status; for every 5-unit increase in OBS, IL-6 was –10.7% lower (95% CI: –16.3, –4.7) among those without CKD, but there was no association among those with CKD (p = 0.03). Conclusion: This study suggests that a higher OBS is associated with more favorable levels of IL-6 and CRP, and that the association of OBS and IL-6 may be modified by CKD status
Kepler eclipsing binary stars. VII. the catalogue of eclipsing binaries found in the entire Kepler data set
The primary Kepler Mission provided nearly continuous monitoring of ~200,000 objects with unprecedented photometric precision. We present the final catalog of eclipsing binary systems within the 105 deg2 Kepler field of view. This release incorporates the full extent of the data from the primary mission (Q0-Q17 Data Release). As a result, new systems have been added, additional false positives have been removed, ephemerides and principal parameters have been recomputed, classifications have been revised to rely on analytical models, and eclipse timing variations have been computed for each system. We identify several classes of systems including those that exhibit tertiary eclipse events, systems that show clear evidence of additional bodies, heartbeat systems, systems with changing eclipse depths, and systems exhibiting only one eclipse event over the duration of the mission. We have updated the period and galactic latitude distribution diagrams and included a catalog completeness evaluation. The total number of identified eclipsing and ellipsoidal binary systems in the Kepler field of view has increased to 2878, 1.3% of all observed Kepler targets
SPLUS J142445.34-254247.1: An R-Process Enhanced, Actinide-Boost, Extremely Metal-Poor star observed with GHOST
We report on the chemo-dynamical analysis of SPLUS J142445.34-254247.1, an
extremely metal-poor halo star enhanced in elements formed by the rapid
neutron-capture process. This star was first selected as a metal-poor candidate
from its narrow-band S-PLUS photometry and followed up spectroscopically in
medium-resolution with Gemini South/GMOS, which confirmed its low-metallicity
status. High-resolution spectroscopy was gathered with GHOST at Gemini South,
allowing for the determination of chemical abundances for 36 elements, from
carbon to thorium. At [Fe/H]=-3.39, SPLUS J1424-2542 is one of the lowest
metallicity stars with measured Th and has the highest logeps(Th/Eu) observed
to date, making it part of the "actinide-boost" category of r-process enhanced
stars. The analysis presented here suggests that the gas cloud from which SPLUS
J1424-2542 was formed must have been enriched by at least two progenitor
populations. The light-element (Z<=30) abundance pattern is consistent with the
yields from a supernova explosion of metal-free stars with 11.3-13.4 Msun, and
the heavy-element (Z>=38) abundance pattern can be reproduced by the yields
from a neutron star merger (1.66Msun and 1.27Msun) event. A kinematical
analysis also reveals that SPLUS J1424-2542 is a low-mass, old halo star with a
likely in-situ origin, not associated with any known early merger events in the

What is a chiral 2d CFT? And what does it have to do with extremal black holes?
The near horizon limit of the extremal BTZ black hole is a``self-dual
orbifold'' of AdS_3. This geometry has a null circle on its boundary, and thus
the dual field theory is a Discrete Light Cone Quantized (DLCQ) two dimensional
CFT. The same geometry can be compactified to two dimensions giving AdS_2 with
a constant electric field. The kinematics of the DLCQ show that in a consistent
quantum theory of gravity in these backgrounds there can be no dynamics in
AdS_2, which is consistent with older ideas about instabilities in this space.
We show how the necessary boundary conditions eliminating AdS_2 fluctuations
can be implemented, leaving one copy of a Virasoro algebra as the asymptotic
symmetry group. Our considerations clarify some aspects of the chiral CFTs
appearing in proposed dual descriptions of the near-horizon degrees of freedom
