This experiment aims to identify the effects of population sources and parent trees on the growth of Alstonia angustiloba of one year old. This experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design. The research used two factors, i.e. population sources (Carita-Banten, Pendopo-Muara Enim, Lubuk Linggau-Musi Rawas and Solok-West Sumatera), and parent trees (43 parent trees). In this experiment, parent trees factor was nested in the population sources. The result showed that population sources and parent trees significantly affected the parameters measured, i.e. height and stem diameter. Pendopo and Carita were the best two populations in terms of height (1,612 m and 1,597 m, respectively) and stem diameter (2,567 cm and 2,686 cm, respectively). The best ten parent trees for height were parent trees number 13 (1.884 m), 16 (1.808 m), 17 (1.773 m), 8 (1.688 m), 6 (1.684 m), 15 (1.682 m), 20 (1.677 m), 36 (1.652 m), 18 (1.652 m) and 14 (1.630 m). The best ten of parent trees for stem diameter were parent trees number 16 (3.171 cm), 7 (3.116 cm), 13 (3.105 cm), 8 (3.027 cm), 36 (3.022 cm), 27 (2.974 cm), 15 (2.925 cm), 30 (2.787 cm), 6 (2.766 cm) and 18 (2.757 cm)

The existence of ethiology disease like Streptococcus agalactiae could be major problems in aquaculture field. In this study, investigations of red tilapia sold around local wet market were recorded. To detect the S. agalactiae in wet markets from disease potential and measure the antibiotic susceptibility test. Selected organs such as eyes, gills, heart and intestine were inoculated onto blood agar and incubated at 37°C for 24 h. Morphology of S. agalactiae were Gram-positive, translucent pin point colony, and has oxidase and catalase negative. Eight isolates of S. agalactiae were confirmed using PCR. The isolates samples were susceptible to imipenem (10 µg), gentamicin (10 µg), ciprofloxacin (5 µg) and nalidixic acid (30 µg). In contrast, they were resistance to ampicillin (10 µg), amoxicillin-clavulanic (20/10 µg), erythromycin (5 µg), neomycin (30 µg), norflaxacin (10 µg), streptomycin (10 µg) and trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole (1.25/23.5 µg). Furthermore, the occurrence of resistant isolates is a matter of public health concern

PCS-9 Effect of Freeze Drying of Follicular Fluid from Waste of Aceh Cattle Ovary on the Estradiol Concentration

Aceh cattle are one of the many cow’s species that are widely preserved and distributed in Aceh Province. This species is the result of a cross between Bos sundaicus and Bos indicus and has been designated as a native Indonesian class of cattle in 2011 by the Minister of Agriculture of Indonesia through the decision of the Minister of Agriculture number 2907 / Kpts / OT.140 / 6/2011 [1]. Aceh's cattle population in 2017 in total was 627,629 species [2]. Slaughtering the cows results in the obtaining of byproduct or waste such as ovaries. The ovarium of female cows is one of the complement results of animal slaughter house which is infrequently used. In fact, the ovaries comprise follicles which contain many active compounds inside the follicular fluids such as insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrogen and progesterone [3]. Freeze drying/lyophilization is one of the preservative process which are generally used in food and non-food processing. This study was conducted to determine the effect of these methods on the concentration of estrogen in follicular fluid

This research was conducted from October 29th 2015 until November 26th 2015 at Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The aim of this research was to determine subtitusion (Tubifex sp.) with commercial shrimp pellets for the growth and survival Rate of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) larvae. The method used was an experimental method by using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. Treatments applied were T4PU0 (Tubifex sp. four week), T3PU1 (Tubifex sp. three week + commercial shrimp pellets one week), T2PU2 (Tubifex sp. two week + commercial shrimp pellets two week), T1PU3 (Tubifex sp. one week + commercial shrimp pellets three week). T0 PU4 (commercial shrimp pellets four week). The results showed that larvae fed on T3PU1 (Tubifex sp. three week + commercial shrimp pellets one week), average of absolute length 3,06 cm, average of absolute weight 0,745 g, and spesific growth rate 15,41%, with the highest survival rate on T2PU2 (Tubifex sp. two week + commercial shrimp pellets two week) 86,67%. Results of water quality measurements in the temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen was 27–290 C, 4,5-6,9 and 2,3 – 6,9 ppm/L respectively

This study aims to test the reliability or accuracy of various types of tape measure and develop models measuring tape and body weight estimation formula based on the size of the heart girth at horse. This research was conducted in Humbang Hasundutan district, North Tapanuli district, Karo district, and Samosir district in May-July 2017. The tape measure used is the measuring tape Agrotech, Animeter and Rondo, then use a formula Schoorl and Smith as a comparison, and using a simple correlation analysis in testing research data. Estimating body weight in the horse that is closest to using a measuring tape based on the regression formula that has been obtained from this study. The result showed that the estimation of body weight for horse using measuring tape Agrotech, Animeter and Rondo obtained deviation 13,22% for male horse and 9,21% for female horse. It is concluded that estimation weight closest to horse is using a regression formula, that for male horse Y = -665,72+6,14X with deviation 0,43% and for female horse Y = -707,97+6,34X with deviation 0,28%

Perceived barriers to healthcare utilization among Jordanian families: A family centered approach

    Get PDF
Aim: This study aimed to understand the barriers to health services utilization by Jordanian families. Background: Access to quality healthcare services is a significant issue facing healthcare systems. Healthcare systems must identify and apply measures to overcome barriers that face utilizing health services and thus increase clients\u27 satisfaction. Methods: A cross-sectional qualitative research design was used in this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with twenty-five families to elicit the model of health services barriers. Results: The analysis of the family interviews led to four main themes related to health services barriers: service system, structural/physical barriers, equipment and medication, and staff competency. This study would increase awareness about underserved populations that avoid seeking medical care. Conclusion: Public health efforts are required to increase awareness about the importance of contacting the healthcare system as early as possible. However, public health policy may require developing new initiatives that reduce these perceived barriers, such as enhancing communication skills among healthcare workers, increasing supervision and inspection of healthcare quality, and enhancing patient engagement by using phone calls and messages as appointment reminders and careful follow-up. © 202
