Pengaruh CAR, FDR, dan BOPO terhadap ROA Bank Umum Syariah Indonesia (Studi Kasus Pada Bank Syariah di Indonesia) Sebagaimana perusahaan pada umumnya, bank umum syariah dalam beroperasional juga mempunyai tujuan untuk bisa mendapatkan laba yang setinggitingginya. Oleh karena itu bank harus menjaga rasio-rasio keuangannya disesuaikan dengan keputusan Bank Indonesia serta menjaga kinerjanya agar tetap dipercaya oleh nasabah dalam kegiatan perekonomian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh CAR, FDR, dan BOPO terhadap ROA pada Bank Umum Syariah di Indonesia periode 2013-2014. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 12 Bank Umum Syariah di Indonesia. Setelah melewati tahap purposive sampling, terdapat 5 sampel Bank Umum Syariah yang layak digunakan yaitu Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank Syariah Mandiri, BNI Syariah, dan BRISyariah. Data penelitian merupakan data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari laporan keuangan triwulanan bank umum syariah periode tahun 2013-2014. Analisis yang digunakan adalah uji asumsi klasik yang meliputi uji normalitas, uji multikolinieritas, uji heterokedastisitas, dan uji autokorelasi. Uji lainnya menggunakan uji regresi linier berganda dan uji hipotesis menggunakan t-statistic untuk menguji koefisien regresi parsial dengan level signifikansi sebesar 5%. Analisis data menggunakan analisis linear berganda dengan tingkat signifikansi 5% yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran menyeluruh mengenai pengaruh variable bebas terhadap variabel terikat, Hasil uji normalitas menunjukan bahwa data penelitian berdistribusi normal. Berdasarkan uji multikolinearitas, uji heterokedastisitas, dan uji autokorelasi tidak ditemukan variabel yang menyimpang dari asumsi klasik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa variabel-variabel independen secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap ROA dengan nilai signifikansi F dibawah 0,05. Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), dan Biaya Operasional terhadap pembiayaan Operasional (BOPO). Menggunakan uji T Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), dan Biaya Operasional terhadap pembiayaan Operasional (BOPO) berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap ROA, sedangkan Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) bepengaruh negatif dan tidak signifikan terhadap ROA. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R2) adalah sebesar 0,829. Hal ini menunjukan 82,9% setiap perubahan ROA dapat dijelaskan oleh variabel CAR, FDR, dan BOPO, sisanya 17,1% dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor lain yang tidak dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini.     Total Synthesis of Phorbazole B

    Phorbazoles are polychlorinated heterocyclic secondary metabolites isolated from a marine sponge and several of these natural products have shown inhibitory activity against cancer cells. In this work, a synthesis of the trichlorinated phorbazole B using late stage electrophilic chlorination was developed. The synthesis relied on the use of an oxazole precursor, which was protected with an iodine in the reactive 4-position, followed by complete chlorination of all pyrrole positions. Attempts to prepare phorbazole A and C, which contain a 3,4-dichlorinated pyrrole, were unsuccessful as the desired chlorination pattern on the pyrrole could not be obtained. The identities of the dichlorinated intermediates and products were determined using NMR techniques including NOESY/ROESY, 1,1-ADEQUATE and high-resolution CLIP-HSQMBC

    Investigation of tetrasubstituted heterocycles reveals hydantoins as a promising scaffold for development of novel antimicrobials with membranolytic properties

    Mimics of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been proposed as a promising class of antimicrobial agents. We report the analysis of five tetrasubstituted, cationic, amphipathic heterocycles as potential AMP mimics. The analysis showed that the heterocyclic scaffold had a strong influence on the haemolytic activity of the compounds, and the hydantoin scaffold was identified as a promising template for drug lead development. Subsequently, a total of 20 hydantoin derivatives were studied for their antimicrobial potency and haemolytic activity. We found 19 of these derivatives to have very low haemolytic toxicity and identified three lead structures, 2dA, 6cG, and 6dG with very promising broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Lead structure 6dG displayed minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values as low as 1 μg/mL against Gram-positive bacteria and 4–16 μg/mL against Gram-negative bacteria. Initial mode of action (MoA) studies performed on the amine derivative 6cG, utilizing a luciferase-based biosensor assay, suggested a strong membrane disrupting effect on the outer and inner membrane of Escherichia coli. Our findings show that the physical properties and structural arrangement induced by the heterocyclic scaffolds are important factors in the design of AMP mimics

    A concise SAR-analysis of antimicrobial cationic amphipathic barbiturates for an improved activity-toxicity profile

    An amphipathic barbiturate mimic of the marine eusynstyelamides is reported as a promising class of antimicrobial agents. We hereby report a detailed analysis of the structure-activity relationship for cationic amphipathic N,N′ -dialkylated-5,5-disubstituted barbiturates. The influence of various cationic groups, hydrocarbon linkers and lipophilic side chains on the compounds’ antimicrobial potency and haemolytic activity was studied. A comprehensive library of 58 compounds was prepared using a concise synthetic strategy. We found cationic amine and guanidyl groups to yield the highest broad-spectrum activity and cationic trimethylated quaternary amine groups to exert narrow-spectrum activity against Gram-positive bacteria. n-Propyl hydrocarbon linkers proved to be the best compromise between potency and haemolytic activity. The combination of two different lipophilic side chains allowed for further fine-tuning of the biological properties. Using these insights, we were able to prepare both, the potent narrow-spectrum barbiturate 8a and the broad-spectrum barbiturates 11lG, 13jA and 13jG, all having low or no haemolytic activity. The guanidine derivative 11lG demonstrated a strong membrane disrupting effect in luciferase-based assays. We believe that these results may be valuable in further development of antimicrobial lead structures

    Prenatal exposure to perfluoroalkyl substances and associations with symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and cognitive functions in preschool children

    BACKGROUND: Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are persistent organic pollutants that are suspected to be neurodevelopmental toxicants, but epidemiological evidence on neurodevelopmental effects of PFAS exposure is inconsistent. We investigated the associations between prenatal exposure to PFASs and symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and cognitive functioning (language skills, estimated IQ and working memory) in preschool children, as well as effect modification by child sex. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This study included 944 mother-child pairs enrolled in a longitudinal prospective study of ADHD symptoms (the ADHD Study), with participants recruited from The Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). Boys and girls aged three and a half years, participated in extensive clinical assessments using well-validated tools; The Preschool Age Psychiatric Assessment interview, Child Development Inventory and Stanford-Binet (5th revision). Prenatal levels of 19 PFASs were measured in maternal blood at week 17 of gestation. Multivariable adjusted regression models were used to examine exposure-outcome associations with two principal components extracted from the seven detected PFASs. Based on these results, we performed regression analyses of individual PFASs categorized into quintiles. RESULTS: PFAS component 1 was mainly explained by perfluoroheptane sulfonate (PFHpS), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). PFAS component 2 was mainly explained by perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA), perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA) and perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA). Regression models showed a negative association between PFAS component 1 and nonverbal working memory [β = -0.08 (CI: -0.12, -0.03)] and a positive association between PFAS component 2 and verbal working memory [β = 0.07 (CI: 0.01, 0.12)]. There were no associations with ADHD symptoms, language skills or IQ. For verbal working memory and PFAS component 2, we found evidence for effect modification by child sex, with associations only for boys. The results of quintile models with individual PFASs, showed the same pattern for working memory as the results in the component regression analyses. There were negative associations between nonverbal working memory and quintiles of PFOA, PFNA, PFHxS, PFHpS and PFOS and positive associations between verbal working memory and quintiles of PFOA, PFNA, PFDA and PFUnDA, with significant relationships mainly in the highest concentration groups. CONCLUSIONS: Based on our results, we did not find consistent evidence to conclude that prenatal exposure to PFASs are associated with ADHD symptoms or cognitive dysfunctions in preschool children aged three and a half years, which is in line with the majority of studies in this area. Our results showed some associations between PFASs and working memory, particularly negative relationships with nonverbal working memory, but also positive relationships with verbal working memory.     Study Protocol of a factorial trial ECHO: Optimizing a group-based school intervention for children with emotional problems

    Background - Youth mental health problems are a major public health concern. Anxiety and depression are among the most common psychological difficulties. The aim of this study is to evaluate an optimized version of a promising indicated group intervention for emotional problems. The program (EMOTION Coping Kids Managing Anxiety and Depression) targets school children 8–12 years with anxious and depressive symptoms and examines three factors. Factor 1 compares the standard EMOTION intervention delivered in 16 group-based sessions (Group), versus a partially-digital EMOTION intervention (DIGGI) delivered as eight group sessions and eight digital sessions. Both versions use virtual reality technology (VR) to improve behavioral experiments. Factor 2 compares parent participation in a 5-session parent group (high involvement) versus sharing information with parents via a brochure (low involvement). Factor 3 compares the use of a measurement and feedback system (MFS) designed to help group leaders tailor the intervention using feedback from children with no MFS. Methods - Using a cluster-randomized factorial design, 40 schools across Norway will be randomized to eight different experimental conditions based on three, two-level factors. To assess internalizing symptoms in children, children and their parents will be given self-report questionnaires pre-, post-, and one year after intervention. Parents also report on demographics, user satisfaction, personal symptoms and perception of family related factors. Teachers report on child symptoms and school functioning. Group leaders and the head of the municipal services report on implementation issues. The primary outcomes are changes in depressive and anxious symptoms. Some secondary outcomes are changes in self-esteem, quality of life, and user satisfaction. Questions regarding the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are included. Treatment fidelity is based on checklists from group leaders, and on user data from the participating children. Discussion - This study is a collaboration between three regional centers for child and adolescent mental health in Norway. It will provide knowledge about: (1) the effect of school-based preventive interventions on anxiety and depression in children; (2) the effect of feedback informed health systems, (3) the effect and cost of digital health interventions for children, and (4) the effect of parental involvement

    Regaining momentum for international climate policy beyond Copenhagen

    The 'Copenhagen Accord' fails to deliver the political framework for a fair, ambitious and legally-binding international climate agreement beyond 2012. The current climate policy regime dynamics are insufficient to reflect the realities of topical complexity, actor coalitions, as well as financial, legal and institutional challenges in the light of extreme time constraints to avoid 'dangerous' climate change of more than 2°C. In this paper we analyze these stumbling blocks for international climate policy and discuss alternatives in order to regain momentum for future negotiations
