Silicon Drift Detector Readout Electronics for a Compton Camera
A prototype detector for Compton camera imaging is under development. A
monolithic array of 19 channel Silicon drift detector with on-chip electronics
is going to be used as a scatter detector for the prototype system. Custom
designed analog and digital readout electronics for this detector was first
tested by using a single cell Silicon drift detector. This paper describes the

Hard-core Yukawa model for two-dimensional charge stabilized colloids
The hyper-netted chain (HNC) and Percus-Yevick (PY) approximations are used
to study the phase diagram of a simple hard-core Yukawa model of
charge-stabilized colloidal particles in a two-dimensional system. We calculate
the static structure factor and the pair distribution function over a wide
range of parameters. Using the statics correlation functions we present an
estimate for the liquid-solid phase diagram for the wide range of the

Influence of chicory roots /Cichorium intybus L) on boar taint in entire male pigs and female pigs
It is known that pure inulin a fructooligosaccharide extracted from chicory roots can:
– reduce boar taint (skatole in backfat and blood)
– reduce parasite infection levels when added to specially composed experimental diets
• However, the entire chicory roots may, in comparison to inulin:
– reduce boar taint more effectively
– improve the taste of cooked meat from both male and female pigs
– be more effective against parasites when added to normal diet types
– contain secondary metabolites that add to the effect of the inulin

OZI violating eight-quark interactions as a thermometer for chiral transitions
This work is a follow-up of our recent observation that in the SU(3) flavor
limit with vanishing current quark masses the temperature for the chiral
transition is substantially reduced by adding eight-quark interactions to the
Nambu - Jona-Lasinio Lagrangian with U_A(1) breaking. Here we generalize the
case to realistic light and strange quark masses and confirm our prior result.
Additionally, we demonstrate that depending on the strength of OZI violating
eight-quark interactions, the system undergoes either a rapid crossover or a
first order phase transition. The meson mass spectra of the low lying
pseudoscalars and scalars at T=0 are not sensitive to the difference in the
parameter settings that correspond to these two alternatives, except for the
singlet-octet mixing scalar channels, mainly the sigma meson.Comment: LaTeX, 5 pages, 3 figure
Optimized random phase approximations for arbitrary reference systems: extremum conditions and thermodynamic consistence
The optimized random phase approximation (ORPA) for classical liquids is
re-examined in the framework of the generating functional approach to the
integral equations. We show that the two main variants of the approximation
correspond to the addition of the same correction to two different first order
approximations of the homogeneous liquid free energy. Furthermore, we show that
it is possible to consistently use the ORPA with arbitrary reference systems
described by continuous potentials and that the same approximation is
equivalent to a particular extremum condition for the corresponding generating
functional. Finally, it is possible to enforce the thermodynamic consistence
between the thermal and the virial route to the equation of state by requiring

Mechanistic Understanding of the Heterogeneous, Rhodium-Cyclic (Alkyl)(Amino)Carbene-Catalyzed (Fluoro-)Arene Hydrogenation
Recently, chemoselective methods for the hydrogenation of fluorinated, silylated, and borylated arenes have been developed providing direct access to previously unattainable, valuable products. Herein, a comprehensive study on the employed rhodium-cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene (CAAC) catalyst precursor is disclosed. Mechanistic experiments, kinetic studies, and surface-spectroscopic methods revealed supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles (NP) as the active catalytic species. Further studies suggest that CAAC-derived modifiers play a key role in determining the chemoselectivity of the hydrogenation of fluorinated arenes, thus offering an avenue for further tuning of the catalytic properties. Tailored implementation of national recommendations on fall prevention among older adults in municipalities in Norway (FALLPREVENT trial): a study protocol for a cluster-randomised trial
Background: Despite substantial research evidence indicating the effectiveness of a range of interventions to pre- vent falls, uptake into routine clinical practice has been limited by several implementation challenges. The complexity of fall prevention in municipality health care underlines the importance of flexible implementation strategies tailored both to general determinants of fall prevention and to local contexts. This cluster-randomised trial (RCT) investigates the effectiveness of a tailored intervention to implement national recommendations on fall prevention among older home-dwelling adults compared to usual practice on adherence to the recommendations in health professionals.Methods: Twenty-five municipalities from four regions in Norway will be randomised to intervention or control arms. Each municipality cluster will recruit up to 30 health professionals to participate in the study as responders. The tailored implementation intervention comprises four components: (1) identifying local structures for implementation, (2) establishing a resource team from different professions and levels, (3) promoting knowledge on implementation and fall prevention and (4) supporting the implementation process. Each of these components includes several implementation activities. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) will be used to categorise determinants of the implementation process and the Expert Recommendations for Implementing Change (ERIC) will guide the matching of barriers to implementation strategies. The primary outcome measure for the study will be health professionals’ adherence to the national recommendations on fall prevention measured by a questionnaire. Secondary outcomes include injurious falls, the feasibility of the intervention, the experiences of the implementation process and intervention costs. Measurements will be carried out at baseline in August 2023, post-intervention in May 2024 and at a follow-up in November 2024.Discussion: This study will provide evidence on the effectiveness, intervention costs and underlying processes of change of tailored implementation of evidence-based fall prevention recommendations.Trial registration: The trial is registered in the Open Science Registry: https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/JQ9T5. Differential Flo8p-dependent regulation of FLO1 and FLO11 for cell–cell and cell–substrate adherence of S. cerevisiae S288c
Cell–cell and cell–surface adherence represents initial steps in forming multicellular aggregates or in establishing cell–surface interactions. The commonly used Saccharomyces cerevisiae laboratory strain S288c carries a flo8 mutation, and is only able to express the flocculin-encoding genes FLO1 and FLO11, when FLO8 is restored. We show here that the two flocculin genes exhibit differences in regulation to execute distinct functions under various environmental conditions. In contrast to the laboratory strain Σ1278b, haploids of the S288c genetic background require FLO1 for cell–cell and cell–substrate adhesion, whereas FLO11 is required for pseudohyphae formation of diploids. In contrast to FLO11, FLO1 repression requires the Sin4p mediator tail component, but is independent of the repressor Sfl1p. FLO1 regulation also differs from FLO11, because it requires neither the KSS1 MAP kinase cascade nor the pathways which lead to the transcription factors Gcn4p or Msn1p. The protein kinase A pathway and the transcription factors Flo8p and Mss11p are the major regulators for FLO1 expression. Therefore, S. cerevisiae is prepared to simultaneously express two genes of its otherwise silenced FLO reservoir resulting in an appropriate cellular surface for different environments
Large lepton asymmetry from Q-balls
We propose a scenario which can explain large lepton asymmetry and small
baryon asymmetry simultaneously. Large lepton asymmetry is generated through
Affleck-Dine (AD) mechanism and almost all the produced lepton numbers are
absorbed into Q-balls (L-balls). If the lifetime of the L-balls is longer than
the onset of electroweak phase transition but shorter than the epoch of big
bang nucleosynthesis (BBN), the large lepton asymmetry in the L-balls is
protected from sphaleron effects. On the other hand, small (negative) lepton
numbers are evaporated from the L-balls due to thermal effects, which are
converted into the observed small baryon asymmetry by virtue of sphaleron
effects. Large and positive lepton asymmetry of electron type is often
requested from BBN. In our scenario, choosing an appropriate flat direction in
the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), we can produce positive
lepton asymmetry of electron type but totally negative lepton asymmetry.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, ReVTeX
Effect of pasture botanical composition on milk composition in organic production
Milk samples from sixteen Norwegian Red dairy cows grazing mixed swards of either grass-red clover (GR) or mixed swards of sown and unsown species of grass, clover and other herbs (GCH) were collected during four periods. Both pastures were organically managed. Pasture botanical composition had no effect on milk fat, protein or vitamin concentration and only minor effects on fatty acid composition. Milk from GR had higher concentrations of the phytoestrogens equol, genistein and biochanin A than the milk from GCH. Concentrations of equol in milk from GR were higher than concentrations reported from experiments with red clover silage. The oxidative stability of the milk lipids was not affected by pasture type
