    Poszukiwanie skutecznych sposobów oddziaływań resocjalizacyjnych opiera się na zróżnicowanych nurtach teoretycznych, które jednak nie mogą być utożsamiane z teoriami kryminologicznymi. Modele oddziaływań resocjalizacyjnych nawiązują do wielu nurtów teoretycznych różniących się metodologicznie i prakseologicznie. Wśród najważniejszych nurtów wymienia się koncepcje behawioralne, psychodynamiczne, kognitywno-behawioralne, interdyscyplinarne czy interakcyjne. Na uwagę zasługują także modele oddziaływań korekcyjnych nawiązujących do ruchu evidence based practice, którego przykładami mogą być modele R-N-R i Good Life Model. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest scharakteryzowanie wybranych, podstawowych modeli oddziaływań korekcyjnych stosowanych obecnie w procesie resocjalizacji osób z zaburzeniami w zachowaniu, niedostosowanych społecznie i sprawców przestępstw. Z uwagi na teoretyczny charakter opracowania wykorzystano metodę przeszukiwania źródeł wtórnych.The searching for effective ways of social rehabilitation interactions is based on diverse theoretical trends, which, however, cannot be equated with criminological theories. Models of social rehabilitation interactions refer to many theoretical currents differing methodologically and praxeologically. Behavioral, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, interdisciplinary or interactive concepts are listed among the most important trends. Also noteworthy are the models of corrective actions referring to the evidence based practice movement, examples of which may be the R-N-R and Good Life Model models. The purpose of this study is to characterize selected basic models of corrective interactions currently used in the process of social rehabilitation of people with behavioral disorders, socially maladjusted and perpetrators of crimes.     Early detection of phosphorus deficiency stress in cucumber at the cellular level using chlorophyll fluorescence signals

    Abiotic stressors contribute to growth restriction and developmental disorders in plants. Early detection of the first signs of changes in plant functioning is very important. The objective of this study was to identify chlorophyll fluorescence parameters that change under phosphorus deficiency stress in cucumber. In this work, a trail to study the early changes caused by phosphorus deficiency in cucumber plants by analysing their photosynthetic performance is presented. Chlorophyll-a fluorescence (ChF) parameters were measured every 7 days for a period of 28 days. Measurements were made separately on young and old leaves and on cucumber fruit. Parameters that decreased during the stress were: p2G, PIabs, PItotal, REo/CSo, and TRo/CSo. P deficiency decreased total electron carriers per RC (ECo/RC), yields (TRo/ABS (Fv/Fm), ETo/TRo, REo/ETo, ETo/ABS and REo/ABS), fluxes (REo/RC and REo/CSo) and fractional reduction of PSI end electron acceptors, and damaged all photochemical and non-photochemical redox reactions. Principal component analysis revealed a group of ChF parameters that may indicate early phosphorus deficiency in cucumber plants. Our results are used in the discovery of sensitive bioindicators of phosphorus deficiency in cucumber plants. Most JIP test parameters are linked to mathematical equations, so we recommend using of advanced statistical tools, such as principal component analysis, which should be considered very useful for stress identification. It has also been shown to be more effective in multivariate methods compared to univariate statistical methods was demonstrated

    Ossa Sesamoidea — prevalence of sesamoid bones in human hands

    Background: This study describes the morphology of sesamoid bones in the human hand. Ultrasound imaging was used to record the presence and measurements of sesamoids in 120 hands of 60 healthy, young adults of Caucasian ethnicity. Materials and methods: The mean number of sesamoid bones was 4.16 in the left hand and 4.03 in the right hand. 21.6% of cases showed asymmetry between the right hand and the left. There was a significant difference in the prevalence of sesamoid bones between right and left hand in males in this study. Females show a higher incidence of sesamoid bones overall, but do not demonstrate a significant difference between the sides. Results: Prevalence findings: Two in the 1st metacarpophalangeal joint (MCPJ) in 99.2% of cases, with 1 case of a single bone. One in the 2nd MCPJ in 43.3% of cases. One in the 5th MCPJ in 84.2% of cases. One in the 1st interphalangeal joint (IPJ) in 83.4% of cases. Aside from that there was 1 case of sesamoid in the 3rd MCPJ and separate case of sesamoid in the 3rd proximal IPJ. Conclusions: Moreover, this study discusses discrepancies of opinion regarding sesamoid bones in morphological research

    The sonographic morphology of musculus palmaris longus in humans

    Background: The aim of this work was to describe morphology and morphometry of musculus palmaris longus and compare the outcome of Shaeffer’s test with ultrasound imaging.Materials and methods: Forty forearms of 20 healthy volunteers (11 females, 9 males) were tested by Shaeffer’s test and ultrasound imaging. Anthropological measurements of the forearm and ultrasound guided measurements of musculus palmaris longus were taken. The outcome was tested for statistical significanceby Fisher’s test.Results: The examination revealed agenesis of palmaris longus in 6 cases, as well as 6 muscles showing quality variations. The Shaeffer’s test gave 4 false-negative results. 28 muscles were described as spindle-shaped and 8 as pennated or bipennated. However, all the spindle-shaped muscles demonstrated a tendon going inside of the muscle’s belly ranging from 2 cm to 11.5 cm. The relation between the circumference of the forearm right below the elbow (mean: 15.38 cm, SD: 1.83 cm) and the approximated volume of the palmaris longus muscle’s belly(mean: 4.72 cm3, SD: 1.57 cm3) proved to be statistically significant (Fisher’s test p-value < 0.05).Conclusions: Uncommon morphological variations have been shown. Spindle-shaped muscles have proved to have their tendons continued inside them. Palmaris longus muscle’s belly has proved to take significant amount of volume within the proximal forearm. Shaeffer’s test has shown to have 10% false-negative ratio

    Organic Corrosion Inhibitors

    Organic corrosion inhibitors are one of the five ways, besides material selection, design, cathodic protection and coatings, to protect materials against corrosion. Corrosion is an ubiquitous phenomena that deteriorates all materials, metals, plastics, glass and concrete. The costs of corrosion are tremendous and amounts to 4.0% of gross domestic product (GDP) in USA. The similar losses of GDP are noted in all countries around the world. At this point of time, there is no way to completely stop the corrosion processes. Some new solutions can only slow this process. Organic corrosion inhibitors are widely used in industry because of their effectiveness at wide range of temperatures, compatibility with protected materials, good solubility in water, low costs and relatively low toxicity. Organic corrosion inhibitors adsorb on the surface to form protective film which displace water and protect it against deteriorating. Effective organic corrosion inhibitors contain nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur and phosphorus with lone electron pairs as well can contain structural moieties with π-electrons that interact with metal favoring the adsorption process. This review presents mechanisms and monitoring of corrosion, laboratory methods for corrosion study, relationship between structure and efficacy of corrosion inhibitions, theoretical approach to design new inhibitors and some aspects of biocorrosion

    Multifunctional Gemini Surfactants: Structure, Synthesis, Properties and Applications

    Gemini cationic surfactants are compounds which are composed of two hydrophilic head groups and two hydrophobic tails linked by a spacer at the head groups or closed to them. The spacer can be either hydrophobic or hydrophilic. It can be rigid or flexible. The neutral charge of the molecule is retained by the presence of organic or inorganic counterions. Critical micelle concentrations (CMCs), surface tension (γ) and minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) are dozen times lower than corresponding parameters of monomeric surfactants. The unique properties of gemini surfactants with a wide range of hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) make them a very useful, innovative material in detergents, cosmetics, personal care products, additives for paints and coatings, biocides, material science, organic synthesis, pharmacy, textiles, enhanced oil recovery, nanotechnology, petroleum and many other branches of life. A large number of papers concerning gemini surfactants have been published so far. This review presents a synthetic look at current work devoted to structure, synthesis and applications of gemini surfactants

    Morphology of sesamoid bones in keyboard musicians

    Background: The sesamoid bones are small, usually oval bone structures often found in joints and under the tendons. Although their precise function is not fully understood, it is agreed upon that they protect the joints and make movements faster and less energy consuming. Sesamoid bones are found in hands, especially around first, second and fifth metacarpophalangeal joint and the interphalangeal joint of the thumb. Materials and methods: This study compares a group of 32 young musicians to 30 non-musicians of similar age and posture. The hands of the subjects were examined by ultrasound imaging for the presence of sesamoid bones. The results were noted and observed sesamoids were measured. Results: The results seem to prove that although there are no difference in the amount or the location of the sesamoid bones between the musicians and the non-musicians, there is statistically significant tendency for the musicians to have bigger sum of the sesamoid’s volume per hand (Fisher’s test p-value = 0.034 < 0.05). Conclusions: There was also observed an unusually shaped “Bactrian” sesamoid bone at the interphalangeal joint of the thumb in 8 cases in the musicians’ group and 1 case in the control group.
