    Smooth approximations

    Get PDF
AbstractWe prove, among other things, that a Lipschitz (or uniformly continuous) mapping f:X→Y can be approximated (even in a fine topology) by smooth Lipschitz (resp. uniformly continuous) mapping, if X is a separable Banach space admitting a smooth Lipschitz bump and either X or Y is a separable C(K) space (resp. super-reflexive space). Further, we show how smooth approximation of Lipschitz mappings is closely related to a smooth approximation of C1-smooth mappings together with their first derivatives. As a corollary we obtain new results on smooth approximation of C1-smooth mappings together with their first derivatives

Title of the thesis: Are children from Muslim families at a disadvantage during Physical Education lessons in primary schools? Keywords: migration, integration, multiculturalism, Muslim children, mainstreaming, inclusive physical education The aim of this research is to identify how children from Muslim families are at a disadvantage during Physical Education lessons in primary schools in the Czech Republic. In order to achieve the goal of this work, I used the quantitative method of collecting data by using an electronic survey available in four languages. The survey was completed by 66 Muslim parents and their children. The results show the problems of integrating pupils from Muslims families into the educational process of physical education in elementary schools in the Czech Republic. There are written recommendations in eleven problematic areas for physical education teachers, heads of PE departments and leaders of schools in order to more easily integrate Muslim pupils into the educational process of physical education in elementary schools in the Czech Republic.Název práce: Začleňování žáků z muslimských rodin do výchovně vzdělávacího procesu tělesné výchovy na základních školách. Katedra tělesné výchovyPedagogická fakultaFaculty of Educatio

Parapet structure from special shaped TRC blocks

    Get PDF
The paper describes innovative parapet solution based on special shaped blocks made form textile-reinforced concrete - TRC. The blocks are designed for a placement at the parapet of building with a flat roof. The solution is appropriate for buildings with precast-concrete bearing structure by following the principle of precast technology (short construction time, minimal technological pauses). However, presented parapet TRC blocks can be used for energy efficient buildings as well in combination with thick layers of thermal insulation. The technical solution was registered as utility model no. CZ27642(U1)

A Comparison of Power Quality Controllers

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on certain types of FACTS (Flexibile AC Transmission System) controllers, which can be used for improving the power quality at the point of connection with the power network. It focuses on types of controllers that are suitable for use in large buildings, rather than in transmission networks. The goal is to compare the features of the controllers in specific tasks, and to clarify which solution is best for a specific purpose. It is in some cases better and cheaper to use a combination of controllers than a single controller. The paper also presents the features of a shunt active harmonic compensator, which is a very modern power quality controller that can be used in many cases, or in combination with other controllers. The comparison was made using a matrix diagram that, resulted from mind mapsand other analysis tools. The paper should help engineers to choose the best solution for improving the power quality in a specific power network at distribution level

Mild to Moderate Functional Tricuspid Regurgitation: Retrospective Comparison of Surgical and Conservative Treatment

    Get PDF
Background. Unoperated severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) leads to the right ventricle (RV) failure. We wanted to determine if there was near-term postoperative progression of noncorrected mild to moderate functional TR in patients who underwent mitral valve surgery for chronic significant mitral regurgitation (MR) and if RV size and function were affected. Methods and Results. We compared two groups of patients retrospectively. In the first group (TVA+, n = 45), tricuspid valve annuloplasty (TVA) had been performed in conjunction with either mitral valve replacement (MVR) or mitral valve repair (MVP). The second group (TVA−, n = 22) underwent MVP or MVR without TVA. TVA+ group revealed a significant decrease in TR and right ventricle diameter. In the TVA− group, 7 patients (32%) showed a significant progression, by one or more grades, of noncorrected TR together with dilatation and decreased ejection fraction of the right ventricle. Conclusions. Tricuspid annuloplasty performed concurrently with MVP or MVR can prevent subsequent progression of tricuspid regurgitation along with right ventricular dilatation and systolic dysfunction in the near-term postoperative period

LIGHTWEIGHT UHPC FACADE PANEL WITH LED DISPLAY

    Get PDF
This article deals with the development of lightweight UHPC facade panel which also can serve as an LED display. Combining both functions into one gives the potential ability to create a LED display on the facade of the building. The article describes the experiences of the development and production of a small-format prototype facade panel, including the installation of LEDs and their electrical connection. The result of the research is the prototype of a 16mm thick small-format lightweight facade panel with a LED display for displaying text on two parallel lines. Thanks to the waffle lightening, the total material and weight savings are approximately 58% compared with the full cross section

Effect of TiO2 and ZnO powder mixtures on mechanical and photocatalytic performance of high performance concrete

    Get PDF
The development of new modified cement-based materials is increasingly becoming a necessity for improving the durability and surface performance of building materials. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) photocatalyst has been widely used in building materials science due to its ability to break down pollutants. Zinc oxide (ZnO) is often considered a substituent for TiO2 because of its photocatalytic and photoluminescent properties. A new inorganic nanocomposite photocatalyst, based on titanium and zinc oxides, is introduced in this work in order to study its compatibility with High Performance Concrete (HPC). This research aims to study the mechanical and photocatalytic behavior of mixtures based on nanoparticles in HPC. The study of the efficiency in the nitrogen oxides (NOx) degradation of modified HPC in TiO2 and ZnO with different percentages is studied. The studies have shown that the introduction of titanium dioxide in HPC presents a significant efficiency for the NOx degradation and a positive effect on the mechanical properties than zinc oxide, and thus represents potential contribution to sustainability of concrete structures
