Helico-conical optical beams self-heal

An optical beam is said to be self-healing when, distorted by an obstacle, the beam corrects itself upon propagation. In this letter, we show through experiments supported by numerical simulations, that Helico-conical optical beams (HCOBs) self-heal. We observe the strong resilience of these beams with different types of obstructions, and relate this to the characteristics of their transverse energy flow.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure

Measuring the translational and rotational velocity of particles in helical motion using structured light

We measure the rotational and translational velocity components of particles moving in helical motion using the frequency shift they induced to the structured light beam illuminating them. Under Laguerre-Gaussian mode illumination, a particle with a helical motion reflects light that acquires an additional frequency shift proportional to the angular velocity of rotation in the transverse plane, on top of the usual frequency shift due to the longitudinal motion. We determined both the translational and rotational velocities of the particles by switching between two modes: by illuminating with a Gaussian beam, we can isolate the longitudinal frequency shift; and by using a Laguerre-Gaussian mode, the frequency shift due to the rotation can be determined. Our technique can be used to characterize the motility of microorganisms with a full three-dimensional movement.Comment: 5 pages,5 figure

Direction-sensitive transverse velocity measurement by phase-modulated structured light beams

The use of structured light beams to detect the velocity of targets moving perpendicularly to the beam's propagation axis opens new avenues for remote sensing of moving objects. However, determining the direction of motion is still a challenge since detection is usually done by means of an interferometric setup which only provides an absolute value of the frequency shift. Here, we put forward a novel method that addresses this issue. It uses dynamic control of the phase in the transverse plane of the structured light beam so that the direction of the particles' movement can be deduced. This is done by noting the change in the magnitude of the frequency shift as the transverse phase of the structured light is moved appropriately. We demonstrate our method with rotating micro-particles that are illuminated by a Laguerre-Gaussian beam with a rotating phase about its propagation axis. Our method, which only requires a dynamically configurable optical beam generator, can easily be used with other types of motion by appropriate engineering and dynamic modulation of the phase of the light beam.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

To make television from the communication, proposal of I redraw of the corporate visual identity of Telecubanacán

La presente investigación se desarrolló en el telecentro provincial “Telecubanacán”, del Sistema de la Televisión Cubana, con el objetivo de proponer el diseño de su identidad visual a partir de identificar los elementos que contribuyan a formar la imagen deseada. El estudio se abordó desde la metodología cualitativa y el método investigación-acción, desde abril de 2009 a mayo de 2010. Las técnicas de investigación empleadas fueron: análisis de documentos, observaciones participantes, entrevistas semiestructuradas, sesiones grupales y briefing operativo. Consejo de Dirección, fundadores, promociones recientes de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de la Villas en el telecentro y expertos fueron las unidades de análisis. Se expusieron puntos de vista en torno a la identidad visual corporativa y su integración a las acciones de comunicación como verdadero valor añadido, distinguiendo elementos básicos del diseño para el caso particular de la televisión. Inicialmente, fue caracterizada la identidad visual de Telecubanacán. Para la propuesta de diseño se precisaron los elementos de identidad visual necesarios, a partir de la imagen deseada de ser un telecentro de proximidad, cercano a las prácticas comunitarias y elevar su status e indicadores de prestigio, reconociéndose como un colectivo profesional. Se propuso la aplicación de la nueva identidad visual en los distintos espacios de emisión y la disposición de sus aplicaciones en la arquitectura de la organización. Ello devino un elemento integrador que los hace singulares, comunes, sinérgicos y coherentes en aras de una emisión integrada de comunicación.The present investigation was developed in the provincial channel "Telecubanacán", Sistem of Cuban Television, with the objective of proposing the design of its visual identity starting from identifying the elements that contribute to form the desired image. The study was approached from the qualitative methodology and the method investigation-action. It was carried out from April 2009 to May 2010. The research techniques used were: analysis of bibliography, participant´s observation, semi-structured interviews, groupal sessions and operative briefing. The leading staff, founders, recent promotions of the Central University "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas in the channel and experts were the analysis units. Points of view about the corporative visual identity and their integration to the communication actions were exposed as a true added value, distinguishing basic elements of the design for the specific case of television. At first, the visual identity of Telecubanacán was characterized. For the design proposal the necessary elements of visual identity were determined, starting from the desired image of being a TV channel close to the community practices to elevate its status and indicators of prestige, recognizing it as a professional staff. The application of the new visual identity was proposed in the different broadcasting spaces and the disposition of its applications in the architecture of the organization was also proposed. The new visual identity became in integrative element that makes the channel singular, common, and coherent for the sake of an integrated broadcast of communication

Accidents and personal protection elements in workers public cleaning from district José Leonardo Ortiz - Chiclayo, Perú

La presente investigación es de tipo cuantitativa, correlacional, descriptiva y transversal, la población fue de 220 personas y una muestra de 132 trabajadores de limpieza pública (solo en las labores de barrido de calles, avenidas y jardines) se utilizó como el instrumento para la data recolección de datos fue una encuesta sobre la casuística de accidentes estructurada en ocho preguntas cerradas. Esta investigación es importante porque involucra al trabajador de limpieza, un ser vulnerable ante la sociedad, y la enfermería es la ciencia que ayudará a cuidar al trabajador de los peligros que se presenten en su trabajo, mediante la prevención y promoción de la salud, es así que formulamos como objetivo general: Conocer la relación que existe entre los accidentes de trabajo y el uso de los elementos de Jose Leonardo Ortiz, 2012. El análisis estadístico se realizó con el Programa SPSS, Versión 18; se elaboraron tablas unidimensionales y bidimensionales de frecuencia, se aplicó la prueba Chi Cuadrado para comprobar la relación entre las variables. La significancia utilizada fue ∞ = 0.05. Así mismo, en los resultados se 90.9 % encontró que el 81.8% han sufrido algún accidente laboral porque no ha usado los elementos de protección personal. Un 90.9% de trabajadores de limpieza han sufrido algún accidente laboral y con respecto al uso de elementos de protección personal un 87.9% de trabajadores municipales no usan elementos de protección personal, llegando a la conclusión que existe relación entre los accidentes y el uso de los Elementos de Protección Personal en el trabajador de limpieza pública del distrito de José Leonardo Ortiz, el cual estuvo representado por un 81.1 nurse. % de la muestra que sufrió algún accidente por no usar los elementos de protección personal.Abstract: This research is quantitative , correlational , descriptive, cross-sectional , population was 220 people and a sample of 132 workers only included public sanitation in the work sweeping streets, avenues and gardens, which is a population-based sample ; the instrument used for data collection was a survey on the casuistry of accidents comprised eight closed questions. This research is important because it involves cleaning worker , be vulnerable in society, and nursing is the science that help care workers of the dangers that arise at work through prevention and health promotion , as formulated overall objective: To determine the relationship between occupational accidents personal protection public worker cleaning the Municipality of Jose Leonardo Ortiz , 2012 . Statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS program, version 18, one and two dimensional frequency tables were produced, the Chi Square test was applied to test the relationship between variables. Significance ∞ = 0.05 was used. Likewise, the results found that 81.8 % have had a work accident that has not used the personal protection. A 90.9 % of janitors have had a work accident and regarding the use of personal protective equipment 87.9 % of municipal workers use personal protective equipment, concluding that there is a relationship between accidents and the use of elements of Personal protection in the public sanitation worker district José Leonardo Ortiz, who was represented by 81.1 % of the sample suffered an accident by not using personal protective equipment

Ejercicios para mejorar la técnica de pedaleo en los ciclistas masculinos categoría 12-13 años

The objective of this article is to propose exercises to improve the pedaling technique in male cyclists 12-13 years old in the "Reparto Obrero" Sports Combined in Guantánamo municipality. For the development of the research, research methods and techniques were used such as analysis-synthesis, historical-logical, observation, interview, survey and percentage calculation that allowed corroborating the insufficiencies that gave rise to the problem under study as well as for the elaboration of the exercises necessary for its solution.El objetivo del presente artículo es proponer ejercicios para mejorar la técnica de pedaleo en los ciclistas masculinos categoría 12-13 años en el combinado deportivo “Reparto Obrero” del municipio Guantánamo. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se utilizaron métodos y técnicas de investigación tales como análisis-síntesis, histórico-lógico, la observación, la entrevista, la encuesta y el cálculo porcentual que permitieron corroborar las insuficiencias que dieron origen al problema objeto de estudio así como para la elaboración de los ejercicios necesarios para su solución

Aplicación del programa Exprésate en el desarrollo de las habilidades sociales en niños(as) de 5 años de la Institución Educativa Inicial “San Benito de Palermo”- Cercado de Lima, 2014

La presente tesis titulada: Aplicación del Programa “Exprésate” en el desarrollo de las habilidades sociales en niños(as) de 5 años de la I.E.I. San Benito de Palermo – Cercado de Lima, 2015”, tiene como objetivo principal evaluar el desarrollo de las Habilidades Sociales del grupo experimental antes y después de la Aplicación del programa “ Exprésate “. En dicho trabajo se desarrollo una investigación aplicada, que corresponde al tipo de estudio explicativo con un diseño pre experimental con un solo grupo; el problema ha sido definido en circunstancias y características concretas de la muestra seleccionada, constituida por 25 niños; a quienes se les aplicó el instrumento en el pre y post test para observar las diferencias significativas en relación al programa Exprésate. El mismo instrumento pasó por la validez obteniendo un 90% y en la confiabilidad 0.81 que corresponde a un nivel alto. Según el análisis estadístico con la prueba de T-Student, la significancia bilateral es inferior al valor de significancia de 0.05, por lo que se concluye que “Existen diferencias de desarrollo de las Habilidades Sociales en el grupo experimental después de la Aplicación del Programa “Exprésate” en niños(as) de 5 años de la I.E.I. San Benito de Palermo – Cercado de Lima, 2015
