Religious motifs within reporting of the 7/7 London bombings in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Poland: A transnational agenda-setting network study
Existing studies have examined the significance of UK media coverage of the 7/7
London bombings. This article seeks to widen this analysis by exploring the coverage
of 7/7 in the leading newspapers of the United Kingdom, the United States, and Poland
comparatively using a new agenda-setting perspective that is grounded within network
analysis. The study is devised to respond specifically to the contrasting arguments about
the influence of media globalization versus religion and ethnicity on this reporting. It finds
that the diverse approaches to religion within the countries of the analyzed newspapers
appear to mitigate the reproduction of shared religious narratives in this reporting.
Nevertheless, the analyzed coverage does carry common attributes and these, it argues,
can be explained broadly by the influence of a US-dominated ‘lens on terror’
Media Ethics Challenges in EU Coverage in Poland, Romania and Spain
In contemporary media systems, the level of
Media Ethics verifies the general level of media
professionalism. On the other hand, Media Ethics
remain one of the most fragile aspects of journalistic
work, determined by changes in the social, economic
and political factors. In fact, the current global crisis
determines the changes in the praxis of journalists'
work.
In this chapter the author focuses on the level of
ethical dimensions in Polish, Romanian and Spanish
media and shows the most current ethical challenges
for the media professionals of these three countries
when covering EU issues.
The research focuses on content analysis of a
number of nationwide Polish, Romanian and Spanish
online newspapers, radio services and TV news. The
comparative perspective of the collected data helps to
understand the differences of the ethical approach in
the media of these three countries. The analysis of strengths and weaknesses of each
country focused on the Media Ethics issues helps to
understand how the ethical demands in Polish,
Romanian and Spanish media deal with rapid
changes in the journalistic work
Mediatyzacja religii. Analiza pojęcia
Religia należy do problematycznych sfer życia społeczeństw postindustrialnych. Jak
postulują niektórzy z komentatorów współczesności, utraciła ona status religio, czyli spoiwa,
które łączyło zbiorowości2, gwarantując wspólne minimum wartości. Sam przedmiot religii
poddaje się krytyce religii jako sfery sprzecznej z osiągnięciami nauk empirycznych3. Mimo
to pozycja religii - dokładniej konkretnych religii - pozostaje niezachwiana.

The article aims in arranging the discourse concerning the celebrities’ morality that is visible in their behaviour which is made public by mass media. It indicates the problematic reasons and consequences of this phenomena. The text concentrates on the priority of profit in the promotion mechanism: “morality of the celebrities”. The narration is derived from the notion of “celebrity” and develops into approximating of possible understanding of morality connected with celebrities’ views – it qualifies the opinions on the level of situation- based existential ethics. On the example of a fragment of breakfast television programme: Dzień Dobry TVN, the article depicts difficulties with grasping the core of this moral orientation. Afterwards, the article discusses a problem of media influence and, consequently, the celebrities’ influence on the recipients. It shows a scheme of profit-oriented media creation of celebrities and the way in which they state moral issues.

Media in shaping knowledge about the secular state
This article undertakes the issue of the sources from which we obtain our knowledge and shape our opinions on the topic of the secular state. Based on a questionnaire survey on a representative group of Poles, I point to the constitutive role of the media in this process. However, I specify that the preferred sources of information are first of all television and then the Internet. Next, I translate the results of the quantitative analysis onto Neuberger’s (1999) approach to the Church-state relationship. As a result, I point out that the opinions of the respondents are located in the endorsed Church space. At the same time, I argue that in this type of approach to Church-state relations, respondents more often perceive the pressure of the Catholic Church in relation to state authority than vice versa
Media, religion and politics in contemporary Poland

public sphere. November 13, 2015, was the day after the swearing-in ceremony
which opened the new term of the Polish parliament. On the largest Polish news
portal, Onet.pl, a text with a significant title appeared: Sejm of the 8th term. How
many deputies swore “without God” (2015). The author of the article named 27
deputies who took an oath without ending “so help me God.” Here, the author
allowed the readers to interpret who was “righteous” or “wicked.” This figure
shows that the Church-state relationship in Poland really does matter.
June 1, 2018, was the day after the Corpus Christi processions on the streets.
The YouTube channel called Wolność24 – Wolność i już! [Freedom 24 – Freedom
Now!] showed a new film with the Butterfly-man, a disguised performer who
used to disrupt one of the big Corpus Christi processions every year. This time,
the Butterfly-man chose the main procession in Warsaw. A report about his performance
dressed as Jesus, in a dozen or so hours, was viewed by over 60,000
YouTube users. Here we can see that the controversy of the meeting point of the
Church in public space has a significant reception and this is happening even
faster than ever before.
Comparing these images, we perceive a certain scheme. Religion in Poland’s
public space is doing very well. Those who do not enter into its framework are
subject to controversy. It does not matter if their agency takes on a civilized form
or breaks religious feelings and blasphemy. Today, this is happening at a faster
pace thanks to digital media, while in the past, this was happening at a slower
pace through traditional media. What essentially is this process? What are its
dynamics?[...
