The COVID-19 pandemic was driving the transformation of all aspects of people’s life including healthcare services to manage the spread of the virus. The direct health service delivery approach must be immediately limited and switched to telemedicine which is a service that utilizes information and communication technology to provide remote health services. The study aimed to describe the patient’s perception of using telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was a descriptive cross-sectional design and 63 patients who experienced telemedicine service at a private hospital in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, were involved and chosen by purposive sampling technique in June 2021. Data related to the topic were taken by using an online self-administered questionnaire which proved valid and reliable. Descriptive analysis by using SPSS was performed after data about patients’ perception of using telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic was available. The study showed 60.3% of participants who used telemedicine service were young adults and university graduates (84%). They also had good knowledge about COVID-19 (84%) and 63.5% of participants had a positive perception of using telemedicine. It can be concluded that although telemedicine was an alternative health service method during the COVID- 19 pandemic, participants who used the service had a positive image of the experience. Keywords: telemedicine, patient perception, COVID-1

In plants, heterochromatin is maintained by a small RNA-based gene silencing mechanism known as RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM). RdDM requires the non-redundant functions of two plant-specific DNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RNAP), RNAP IV and RNAP V. RNAP IV plays a major role in siRNA biogenesis, while RNAP V may recruit DNA methylation machinery to target endogenous loci for silencing. Although small RNA-generating regions that are dependent on both RNAP IV and RNAP V have been identified previously, the genomic loci targeted by RNAP V for siRNA accumulation and silencing have not been described extensively. To characterize the RNAP V-dependent, heterochromatic siRNA-generating regions in the Arabidopsis genome, we deeply sequenced the small RNA populations of wild-type and RNAP V null mutant (nrpe1) plants. Our results showed that RNAP V-dependent siRNA-generating loci are associated predominately with short repetitive sequences in intergenic regions. Suppression of small RNA production from short repetitive sequences was also prominent in RdDM mutants including dms4, drd1, dms3 and rdm1, reflecting the known association of these RdDM effectors with RNAP V. The genomic regions targeted by RNAP V were small, with an estimated average length of 238 bp. Our results suggest that RNAP V affects siRNA production from genomic loci with features dissimilar to known RNAP IV-dependent loci. RNAP V, along with RNAP IV and DRM1/2, may target and silence a set of small, intergenic transposable elements located in dispersed genomic regions for silencing. Silencing at these loci may be actively reinforced by RdDM

The existing cacao industry in West Sumatera is a small scale cacao industry. One of the risks encountered in this industry is that the production does not meet the target and the specification set, resulting in the difficulties for the industry to develop. The objective of the research is to conduct a supply chain risk management in the small scale cacao industry in West Sumatera. . This research used a survey approach method. While the data collected were primary and secondary data. The supply chain management process used descriptive method and Analytic Network Process (ANP). Study on cacao industry chain supply risk source showed indicates that production risks are in the highest priority with a value of 21.78%. The marketing, financial, institutional and human resource risks have the same priority risk i.e. 19.55%. The highest priority of risk types includes the risk of availability of industrial capital, government policy, skills and personal knowledge, and production process cost, with the priority values of 0.102634; 0.101024; 0.099903; and 0.041294 respectively. An alternative risk control priority is to weaken risk (0.39191), and risk segregation (0.25798). Supply chain risk management needs to be held by weakening and segregating risks through improving product management, supply management and information management prioritized on procurement and production processes, thereby enhancing the quality and quantity of processed cocoa products on an ongoing basis. The results of the study can become an input to stakeholders related to the development of small-scale cocoa industry in West Sumatera

The agricultural industry is one of the most important sectors in any country because it contributes to so many different areas. In comparison to other emerging countries, however, farmers and agriculture fields in some countries have limited technology and reach. Agricultural and allied sector operations employ 54.6 percent of the total workforce and contribute for 17.1 percent of the country's Gross Value Added (GVA) in 2017-18, according to India Census 2011. However, Agriculture’s contribution to GVA continues decline.[7] This agricultural field is obviously a challenging field to the digital technology and this “smart fruit ripening assertion” model considerably gives the high-quality and accurate results by utilizing the deep learning techniques such as YoloV3 which is a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). This model's main focus is on the design and implementation of practical tasks, such as predicting the ripening stages of various types of fruits based on form, colour, and texture by combining and comparing various ML methods, OpenCV, and Internet of Things (IoT), thereby providing accurate prediction of ripening stages of fruits with the aid of a computer application which results introduction of large-scale manpower and saves time

    Get PDF
In order to develop better touch and gesture user interfaces, it is important to be able to measure how humans move their hands while interacting with technical devices. The recent advances in high-speed imaging technology and in image-based object tracking techniques have made it possible to accurately measure the hand movement from videos without the need for data gloves or other sensors that would limit the natural hand movements. In this paper, we propose a complete framework to measure hand movements in 3D in human-computer interaction situations. The framework includes the composition of the measurement setup, selecting the object tracking methods, post-processing of the motion trajectories, 3D trajectory reconstruction, and characterizing and visualizing the movement data. We demonstrate the framework in a context where 3D touch screen usability is studied with 3D stimuli.Peer reviewe

State of Charge based Charging Controller with Temperature monitoring system for Lithium ion Battery in Electric Vehicle

    Get PDF
The battery management system plays a vital role in electric vehicles. Improper charging and discharging of the battery alters the chemical properties of the battery and thereby reduces its lifetime. Battery State of charge (SOC) is an essential parameter to be measured for designing a battery management system. Operating the electric vehicle battery above its nominal temperature leads to a blast of the battery, which may cause human loss. Hence the temperature of the battery has to be monitored properly. In order to reduce the depth of discharge of the battery, an SOC-based charging controller is designed with the help of Arduino and the developed control algorithm. This developed algorithm stops the operation of the electric vehicle when SOC of the battery goes below the threshold value and alerts the user when the temperature of the battery goes beyond the nominal range. This ensures the safe and proper handling of lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries in Electric Vehicle

Purpose: To compare the intraocular pressure- (IOP-) lowering efficacy of fixed combinations travoprost 0.004%/timolol 0.5% and dorzolamide 2%/timolol 0.5% in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Methods: In this prospective, multicenter, double-masked, randomized clinical trial, 319 qualifying patients received either travoprost/timolol once daily in the morning (n = 157) or dorzolamide/timolol twice daily (n = 162). IOP was assessed morning and evening at 2 and 6 weeks. The primary outcome measure was mean diurnal IOP. Results: Baseline mean IOP values were similar between groups. Mean pooled diurnal IOP was significantly lower in the travoprost/timolol group (16.5 mmHg ± 0.23) than in the dorzolamide/timolol group (17.3 mmHg ± 0.23; P = 0.011). Mean IOP was significantly lower in the travoprost/timolol group compared to the dorzolamide/timolol group at the 9 AM time point both at Week 2 (P = 0.006) and Week 6 (P = 0.002). The travoprost/timolol combination produced mean IOP reductions from baseline of 35.3% to 38.5%, while the dorzolamide/timolol combination produced mean IOP reductions from baseline of 32.5% to 34.5%. Conclusions: The fixed combination travoprost 0.004%/timolol 0.5% dosed once daily in the morning demonstrated superior mean diurnal IOP-lowering efficacy compared to dorzolamide 2%/timolol 0.5% dosed twice daily in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.publishersversionPeer reviewe
