The analysis of the snowfieldsโ€™ dynamics revealed that the impact of current climate change on the number and areas of snowfields is obvious. According to the catalogue, there were 24 snowfields and according to the data of 2020 SRS, their number has increased to 103, and accordingly the occupied area has increased from 1.4 2 to 2.30 to km2. At this time, small and medium-sized glaciers with an area of more than 0.1 km2 rapidly degrade and their number and occupied areas decrease, which automatically leads to an increase in the number and area of snowfields

Thus, their degradation reflects the rate of climate change. The only way to scientifically study the impact ofmodern climate change on glaciers is to use high-resolution satellite remote sensing (SRS) since this technology allows you to simultaneously study the state of glaciers over large areas. The study of the current state of glaciers inthe Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia due to the lack of a local glaciological school and taking into account the current political situation the study of the glaciers must be carried out by SRS. The research of the retreat of the Abkhazian glaciers using high-resolution SRS is the main goal of this work. In addition to the retreat of a large glacier, an approximate date is determined for the complete melting of the glacier within a certain climate scenario

    Addressing the role of triphenylphosphine in copper catalyzed ATRP

    A new Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) process with triphenylphosphine (PPh3) and [CuIIMe6TREN]2+ as the catalyst system is reported. It is shown that PPh3 can act not only as an efficient reducing agent (RA) but also as a supplemental activator (SA). The kinetics and mechanism of SARA ATRP of methyl acrylate (MA) in DMSO and DMSO/H2O (90/10 v/v) were investigated in detail. The polymers presented controlled molecular weight, very low dispersity (\u110 48 1.03), and well-defined chain-end functionality. UV-Vis and electrochemical studies were performed to understand the role of PPh3 and the CuIIBr2/Me6TREN complex in MA polymerization. It is demonstrated that the presence of PPh3 does not affect the stability of the [BrCuIIMe6TREN]+ deactivator. The reported results reveal the high versatility of PPh3 in ATRP, which, besides being commonly used in iron-mediated polymerizations, can also be employed as a SARA agent in copper-based ATRP systems
