A DIMENSÃO DE GÊNERO NA POLITICA DE ASSISTÊNCIA SOCIAL

Resumo Este artigo aborda a Política de Assistência Social a partir da Proteção Social Especial de Média Complexidade, apresentando resultados parciais de pesquisa social, orientada pelo método dialético-crítico, realizada nos Centros de Referência Especializados de Assistência Social – CREAS da Região Funcional de Planejamento 9 do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os CREAS foram analisados de modo a identificar de que forma a perspectiva de gênero está presente na política de assistência social e como se materializa essa perspectiva no discurso dos profissionais. Para isto, foram verificados a estrutura física, material e de recursos humanos; a organização e metodologia dos serviços ofertados; e, as seguranças sociais que a proteção social de Assistência Social visa garantir à população usuária. Esta pesquisa indicou que as ações realizadas nos CREAS perpetuam estereótipos de gênero, não sendo materializado o princípio da matricialidade sociofamiliar

SOCIAL WORK PRINCIPLES AND THE INTERFACE WITH THE CULTURE OF PEACE

This article aims to unveil the interface of the culture of peace with social work´s principles. Social work´s principles are based on freedom, autonomy, equality, social justice, and respect for human rights. It envisions a society without any type of discrimination based on religion, race, social class, gender, age and ethnicity. Based on these principles, we can conclude that social workers are peace builders by nature, because of their ongoing commitment with overcoming oppressive realities and their constant pursuit of social justice

Study on the association between sleep disorders versus oral health related variables

To study the association between sleep quality and oral health related variables, which still have conflicts in the literature. This was a population-based case-control study between subjects with versus without sleep disorders from the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS), city of Maringá (N=1,643). Subjects answered self-reported questionnaires: a) Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD), b) Sleep Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and c) North York Dental Health Survey (NYDHS). No significant difference was found for gender, marital status, or income; however, non-Caucasians, people with lower levels of education, and those between 20 to 50 years old had worse scores of sleep disorders in the SAQ. Self-perceived oral health, masticatory capacity to eat foods, and gingival bleeding was significantly worse among subjects with self-reported sleep disorders. Self-reported tooth loss, edentulism and use of removable partial dentures (with clasps) or complete dentures showed no significant difference between groups. Self-reported sleep disorder subjects presented significantly higher prevalence of both self-reported tooth and TMJ pain. It can be concluded that individuals with self-reported sleep disorders presented worse self-perceived oral health for most studied variables

VIOLENCE AGAINST RURAL WOMEN IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL: CHALLENGES FOR PUBLIC POLICIES

A woman in Brazil suffers violence every 24 seconds, but there are women more vulnerable to violence such as rural women. 55.2% rural women revealed that they had experienced some type of domestic violence and almost 50% of them reported a lack of services for women who have been abused (Bagatini et. al., 2013 p.27). This qualitative research focuses on violence against rural women in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and the challenges for public policies to guarantee their rights. The main objectives are: to identify the types of violence suffered by rural women; to describe their help seeking process, and to analyse if the safety network for women are able to meet their demands. The data was collected through interviews with representatives of women´s rural movemen, coordinators of women´s policies and rural women, and submitted to content analysis. The results demonstrate the invisibility of violence against women in rural areas, the lack of recognition of women´s work; the lack of transportation to access the network of services when available. Furthermore, there is a need of actions to challenge the patriarchal culture as well as public policies directed to the promotion of women´s autonomy. We conclude that rural women are more vulnerable to violence due to the lack of information about their rights and the economic dependency of their partners, as well as the more traditional gender roles. Some government initiatives is taking place such as the mobile units that will provide legal, social and psychological services to rural women

DESAFIOS DO ATENDIMENTO À MULHER EM SITUAÇÃO DE VIOLÊNCIA NO ÂMBITO DOS CREAS

RESUMO Este artigo tem por objetivo trazer alguns resultados parciais de estudo qualitativo, de natureza exploratória, sobre a experiência social de mulheres em situação de violência acerca do atendimento no âmbito dos CREAS de Porto Alegre. Para tanto, foram realizadas entrevistas e grupos focais com mulheres, profissionais e gestores de 9 CREAS, totalizando 52 sujeitos. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo, de Bardin. Os resultados apontam para a falta de capacitação dos profissionais no tema da violência contra a mulher e questões de gênero: a violência institucional experienciada pelas mulheres ao serem encaminhadas à rede de proteção da mulher; a judicialização da violência e as dificuldades de trabalhar com o agressor; e a necessidade da criação de espaços e estratégias para promoção da autonomia da mulher, no âmbito econômico e social, como uma possibilidade de intenção de ruptura com a violência

A política de Assistência Social e o enfrentamento à violência sexual infanto-juvenil

O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar, a partir da realidade do Estado do Tocantins, como a Política de Assistência Social, por meio das ações dos Centros de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS), vem se configurando para a promoção dos direitos das crianças, adolescentes e suas famílias em situação de violência sexual. Para a coleta de dados, realizaram-se 17 entrevistas com famílias, profissionais e coordenadores/as de 5 CREAS e os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo. Os resultados revelam a presença de valores calcados em uma cultura baseada na desigualdade socioeconômica, de gênero e geração bem como os impactos da precarização das políticas sociais nos processos interventivos dos profissionais junto a essa expressão da violência. Conclui-se que a construção da integralidade do atendimento às crianças, adolescentes e famílias em situação de violência sexual requer um movimento que promova o rompimento com respostas revitimizantes

INSTRUMENTOS QUANTITATIVOS VALIDADOS PARA IDENTIFICAÇÃO/RASTREAMENTO DE VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA A PESSOA IDOSA

 A violência contra a pessoa idosa tem uma natureza velada e pode ser mais bem identificada com o uso de instrumentos especificamente construídos para tal. O objetivo deste artigo é o de revisar os progressos realizados no campo da construção e validação de instrumentos de rastreamento e avaliação de violência contra a pessoa idosa; debater sobre os valores e limitações de tais instrumentos e identificar entre eles aqueles que já tenham sido validados para uso no contexto brasileiro. Dos onze instrumentos pesquisados e descritos, identificou-se que somente o CASE e o H-S/EAST passaram por processos de adaptação transcultural e validação para uso em língua portuguesa no Brasil. O uso de ferramentas de rastreio de violência contra a pessoa idosa agrega valor ao processo decisório do profissional que as utiliza, e ajuda-o a nortear suas ações sobre denúncia do abuso identificado e encaminhamento do caso para a devida assistência
