    Features of the system of antioxidant protection and lipid peroxidation in microangiopathies against type 2 diabetes mellitus

    The article presents the results of an experimental study of the AOР and LPО system in animals simulated complications of the microcirculatory tract (diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy) on the background of type 2 diabetes. It was found that in the group of animals with type 2 diabetes increased the level of DC, TBCproducts and MDA; catalase and FG levels decreased. In animals with simulated DN, AOP disorders were more pronounced compared to animals with DR. This trend can be explained by the fact that in addition to hyperglycemia in these animals, the excessive formation of free radicals contributes to metabolic shifts in ischemic areas of tissues and organs. Disturbance of balance in AOP and LPO in type 2 diabetes triggers a pathogenetic cascade of development of complications of the microcirculatory tract and is accompanied by a tendency to further increase the generation of reactive oxygen species and activation of POL in microangiopathies

    The search for CP violation in interactions of the Higgs boson with either fermions or bosons provides attractive reference measurements in the Particle Physics Community Planning Exercise (a.k.a. "Snowmass"). Benchmark measurements of CP violation provide a limited and well-defined set of parameters that could be tested at the proton, electron-positron, photon, and muon colliders, and compared to those achieved through study of virtual effects in electric dipole moment measurements.     FTIR study of thermally induced magnetostructural transitions in breathing crystals

"Breathing crystals" based on copper(II) hexafluoroacetylacetonates and pyrazolyl-substituted nitronyl nitroxides comprise the exchange-coupled clusters within the polymeric chains. Owing to an interplay of exchange interaction between copper(II) and nitroxide spins and Jahn-Teller nature of copper(II) complex, the breathing crystals demonstrate thermally and light-induced magnetostructural transitions in many aspects similar to the classical spin crossover. Herewith, we report the first application of variable temperature (VT) far/mid Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and mid FTIR microscopy to breathing crystals. This VT-FTIR study was aimed toward clarification of the transitions mechanism previously debated on the basis of superconducting quantum interference device, X-ray diffraction, and electron paramagnetic resonance data. VT-FTIR showed the onset of new vibrational bands during phase transitions occurring at the expense of several existing ones, whose intensity was significantly reduced. The most pronounced spectral changes were assigned to corresponding vibrational modes using quantum chemical calculations. A clear-cut correlation was found between temperature-dependent effective magnetic moment of studied compounds and the observed VT-FTIR spectra. Importantly, VT-FTIR confirmed coexistence of two types of copper(II)-nitroxide clusters during gradual magnetostructural transition. Such clusters correspond to weakly coupled and strongly coupled spin states, whose relative contribution depends on temperature. The pronounced difference in the VT-FTIR spectra of two states in breathing crystals is a fingerprint of magnetostructural transition, and understanding of these characteristics achieved by us will be useful for future studies of breathing crystals as well as their diamagnetic analogues

    Study of Charmless Hadronic B Meson Decays to Pseudoscalar-Vector Final States

    We report results of searches for charmless hadronic B meson decays to pseudoscalar(pi^+-,K^+-,Pi^0 or Ks^0)-vector(Rho, K* or Omega) final states. Using 9.7 million BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we report first observation of B^- --> Pi^-Rho^0, B^0 --> Pi^+-Rho^-+ and B^- --> Pi^-Omega, which are expected to be dominated by hadronic b --> u transitions. The measured branching fractions are (10.4+3.3-3.4+-2.1)x10^-6, (27.6+8.4-7.4+-4.2)x10^-6 and (11.3+3.3-2.9+-1.4)x10^-6, respectively.     A Study of Time-Dependent CP-Violating Asymmetries and Flavor Oscillations in Neutral B Decays at the Upsilon(4S)

    We present a measurement of time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in neutral B meson decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The data sample consists of 29.7 fb1{\rm fb}^{-1} recorded at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance and 3.9 fb1{\rm fb}^{-1} off-resonance. One of the neutral B mesons, which are produced in pairs at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S), is fully reconstructed in the CP decay modes J/ψKS0J/\psi K^0_S, ψ(2S)KS0\psi(2S) K^0_S, χc1KS0\chi_{c1} K^0_S, J/ψK0J/\psi K^{*0} (K0KS0π0K^{*0}\to K^0_S\pi^0) and J/ψKL0J/\psi K^0_L, or in flavor-eigenstate modes involving D()π/ρ/a1D^{(*)}\pi/\rho/a_1 and J/ψK0J/\psi K^{*0} (K0K+πK^{*0}\to K^+\pi^-). The flavor of the other neutral B meson is tagged at the time of its decay, mainly with the charge of identified leptons and kaons. The proper time elapsed between the decays is determined by measuring the distance between the decay vertices. A maximum-likelihood fit to this flavor eigenstate sample finds Δmd=0.516±0.016(stat)±0.010(syst)ps1\Delta m_d = 0.516\pm 0.016 {\rm (stat)} \pm 0.010 {\rm (syst)} {\rm ps}^{-1}. The value of the asymmetry amplitude sin2β\sin2\beta is determined from a simultaneous maximum-likelihood fit to the time-difference distribution of the flavor-eigenstate sample and about 642 tagged B0B^0 decays in the CP-eigenstate modes. We find sin2β=0.59±0.14(stat)±0.05(syst)\sin2\beta=0.59\pm 0.14 {\rm (stat)} \pm 0.05 {\rm (syst)}, demonstrating that CP violation exists in the neutral B meson system.
