    A study of the vegetation of the South Burn valley, Waldridge Fell, County Durham

    The vegetation of the South Burn Valley, Waldridge Fell, County Durham, was examined using an objective, quantitative phytosociological method. The vegetation units found to be present in the valley using this technique were then described and classified. Certain parameters relating to the chemical and physical environment of each vegetation unit were measured and variations in these factors used to account for the distribution of the vegetation units within the valley. The valley floor is broad and flat and situated below a series of spring lines. The majority of the area has a substrate composed of peat and the importance of water table height, ground water chemistry and tne degree of decomposition of this peat are emphasised as being the major environmental factors controlling the distribution of the main vegetation units of the valley floor. In a small area of the valley floor, which has willow car growing upon it, the substrate is composed of mineral soil. Here the chemistry of the water supplying the area and the nature of the substrate are important environmental factors. The valley sides are steep and composed of a sandy substrate and the dry nature and base-poor conditions of this habitat, seem to, in all probability account for the type of vegetation found growing on these sites. In a study of the population dynamics of the major tree species of the vegetation units, evidence was obtained showing that a change in tree species composition is taking place. Alder and Birch are the main dominants of the valley floor at present, but the evidence presented here suggests that these species are not regenerating and that ash is moving in to become the dominant tree of the valley floor. However, the small area of willow carr presently found in the valley will probably remain with such a species composition, but with a change in the predominant willow species. Further a small area of birch wood with a moss carpet ground layer appears to be losing its tree component and will probably change to a sphagnum bog. The tree composition of the valley sides also appears to be changing. On the fell side birch is being replaced by oak while, on the opposite side of the valley, sycamore is moving in to replace the birch. Reasons for these observed changes are given

    Size and bag limits are among the most common forms of regulations for recreational fisheries. In this paper, we theoretically study and compare the short- and long-term impacts of these policies on individual anglers and fish stocks. Particular attention is paid to the issue of release mortality, which can have important consequences for policy effectiveness. Theoretically, we show the conditions under which these policies will be successful in achieving biological objectives. Implications for recreation demand analysis are discussed.     Cilj ovog rada je izrada informacijskog i komunikacijskog sustava za pohranu i obradu medicinskih podataka. U prvom dijelu rada dan je pregled računarstva u oblaku kao tehnologije te na koji način se može koristiti računarstvo u oblaku. Zadatak rada je izgraditi informacijski i komunikacijski sustav stoga je u drugom poglavlju dana definicija informacijskih sustava. Opisan je primjer jednog informacijskog sustava koji se koristi u medicini u Republici Hrvatskoj. Drugi dio rada započinje pregledom tehnologija koje su korištene za izradu cijelog sustava. Detaljno je opisana arhitektura i dizajn cijelog sustava kroz opis svrhe, opće prioritete i skicu sustava. Načini korištenja dodatno su objašnjeni kroz dijagrame razmještaja i aktivnosti. Aplikacija se temelji na modelu repozitorija podataka i koristi dvije baze podataka. Jedna baza podataka je SQL dok je druga NoSQL. Baze se kao i aplikacija nalaze u računalnim oblacima. Zadnje poglavlje opisuje implementaciju rješenja i pokretanje sustava. Korisničke upute napisane kroz ulogu administratora i korisnika. Računalni oblak kao tehnologija pruža na ekonomski prihvatljiv način brojne mogućnosti za razvoj sustava te različite načine korištenja vlastitih i tuđih sustava.The goal of this thesis is to make information and communication system for storage and processing of medical data. The first part gives an overview of cloud computing as a technology and how it can be used. The task is to build an information and communication system therefore in the second chapter contains the definition of information systems in general. Described is an example of an information system which is used in medicine in the Republic of Croatia. The second part starts with an overview of technologies that are used to create the entire system. A detailed description of the architecture and design of the entire system through a description of the purpose , the general priorities and outline of the system. Uses are further explained through diagrams and deployment activities. The application is based on the model repository of data and uses two databases. One database is SQL and the other NoSQL. Databases and applications are available in the cloud. The last chapter describes the implementation of the solution and the system. User guide written by the role of administrators and users. Cloud technology provides an economically efficient for the development of systems and different ways of using their own and other people's systems
