    The perception of psychosocial risks and work-related stress in relation to job insecurity and gender differences: a cross-sectional study

    Introduction.The perception of psychosocial risks exposesworkers to developwork-related stress. Recently the attention of scientific research has focused on a psychosocial risk already identified as “job insecurity” that regards the “overall concern about the continued existence of the job in the future” and that also depends onworker’s perception, different for each gender. Aimof the Study. The aim of this cross sectional study is to show if job insecurity, in the formof temporary contracts, can influence the perception of psychosocial risks and therefore increase worker’s vulnerability to work-related stress and how the magnitude of this effect differs between genders. Materials and Methods. 338 administrative technical workers (113 males and 225 females) were administered a questionnaire, enquiring contract typology (permanent or temporary contracts), and the Health Safety Executive questionnaire to assess work-related stress. The Health Safety Executive Analysis Tool software was used to process collected questionnaires and theWilcoxon rank-sum test was used to evaluate the statistical significance of the differences obtained. Results. Workers with temporary contracts obtained lower scores than workers with permanent contracts in all the domains explored by theHealth Safety Executive Analysis questionnaire, statistically significant (P<0,05). The female workers obtained lower scores than male workers in all domains explored by the Health Safety Executive questionnaire. Conclusions. Authors conclude that perception of psychosocial risks can be influenced by job insecurity, in the form of temporary contracts, and increases worker’s vulnerability to work-related stress and differs between genders

    Este trabajo es, en general, una investigación sobre el código lingüístico y, en particular, pretende ser una investigación que se centra en cómo se tiende a manipular el código lingüístico para hacer cosas con palabras. El foco de interés lingüístico no coincide con los lexemas simples, sino con sus posibles combinaciones sintagmáticas, y no solamente en el ámbito de la enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas, sino también en el ámbito de la traducción, tanto pedagógica como profesional. Este propósito parte de una óptica que revela como meramente ficticia cualquier correspondencia interlingüística unívoca y que, al mismo tiempo, señala como imprescindible la detección de las redes funcionales que organizan las palabras y sus combinaciones y relacionan los elementos implicados en la construcción del significado. La investigación nace de la suposición de que es fundamental el análisis del vocabulario de las lenguas participantes en la comunicación, si se considera la hipótesis de que la combinación entre palabras es privativa de un determinado código lingüístico, y de que, por tanto, precisamente en esto, los idiomas pueden diferir o coincidir total o parcialmente. Los objetivos finales que se intentará perseguir son dos, a saber: 1) evidenciar cómo la operación interlingüística, tanto en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de lenguas como en el de traducción, depende del léxico y sus combinaciones, a fin de garantizar la eficacia del lenguaje en todos los niveles; 2) reflexionar sobre cómo compilar un diccionario bilingüe que resulte novedoso y realmente útil tanto para alumnos como para profesionales.This study focuses on the manipulation of the language code to do things with words. The analytical interest is not stimulated by simple lexemes, but by their possible syntagmatic combinations, not only in the field of language teaching, but also in that of translation, both pedagogical and professional. This objective is set in a perspective that reveals how any unambiguous interlingual correspondence is artificial, and that, at the same time, makes it essential to know how to identify the functional networks that organize words and their combinations, and relate them to the elements involved in building meaning. The study arises from the assumption that an analysis of the vocabulary of the languages involved in communication is fundamental, considering the hypothesis that the combination of words is privative of a given linguistic code and that, therefore, for this very reason, languages may differ or coincide totally or partially. There are two final goals: 1) to highlight how the interlinguistic operation, both in language teaching and in translation, depends on the lexicon and its combinations, in order to ensure the effectiveness of language at every level; 2) to reflect on how to compile a bilingual dictionary that is innovative and truly useful for both students and professionals

    Obiettivo del presente articolo è lo studio delle combinazioni lessicali fisse in spagnolo e in italiano, al fine di osservare l’incidenza della presenza di determinante (articolo determinativo e indeterminativo) nella ricostruzione del sintagma nelle due lingue affini. L’analisi parte dall’assunto che la tendenza composizionale simile delle due lingue possa essere indebolita da alcune eccezioni nei costituenti, dato che queste rivelano una corrispondenza non costante per quel che riguarda la selezione del determinante (Greco, 2007: 158).El objetivo de este artículo es el estudio de las combinaciones léxicas fijas en español y en italiano, a fin de observar si la presencia de determinante (artículo determinado e indeter-minado) condiciona la reconstrucción del sintagma en las dos lenguas afines. El análisis parte de la tesis de que la tendencia composicional similar de ambas lenguas puede verse afectada por algunas excepciones en los constituyentes, puesto que estos revelan una correspondencia no constante en lo que concierne a la selección del determinante (Greco, 2007: 158

    Quality of life in workers and stress: gender differences in exposure to psychosocial risks and perceived well-being

    Background. Quality of working life is the result of many factors inherent in the workplace environment, especially in terms of exposure to psychosocial risks. Objectives. The purpose of this study is to assess the quality of life with special attention to gender differences. Methods. The HSE-IT questionnaire and the WHO-5 Well-Being Index were administered to a group of workers (74 males and 33 females). The authors also used Cronbach’s alpha test to assess the internal consistency of both questionnaires and the Mann–Whitney test to evaluate the significance of gender differences in both questionnaires. Results. The HSE-IT highlighted the existence of work-related stress in all the population with a critical perception regarding the domain “Relationships.” Furthermore, gender analysis highlighted the presence of two additional domains in the female population: “Demand” ( = 0,002) and “Support from Managers” ( = 0,287). The WHO-5 highlighted a well-being level below the standard cut-off point with a significant gender difference ( = 0.009) for males (18, SD = 6) as compared to females (14, SD = 6,4). Cronbach’s alpha values indicated a high level of internal consistency for both of our scales. Conclusions.     A Direct Real-Time Observation of Anion Intercalation in Graphite Process and Its Fully Reversibility by SAXS/WAXS Techniques

    The process of anion intercalation in graphite and its reversibility plays a crucial role in the next generation energy-storage devices. Herein the reaction mechanism of the aluminum graphite dual ion cell by operando X-ray scattering from small angles to wide angles is investigated. The staging behavior of the graphite intercalation compound (GIC) formation, its phase transitions, and its reversible process are observed for the first time by directly measuring the repeated intercalation distance, along with the microporosity of the cathode graphite. The investigation demonstrates complete reversibility of the electrochemical intercalation process, alongside nano- and micro-structural reorganization of natural graphite induced by intercalation. This work represents a new insight into thermodynamic aspects taking place during intermediate phase transitions in the GIC formation
