Embedded server to automatic control of wireless transducer network for irrigation based on Internet of things

The growth of the Internet of Things, as well as the optimization needs for agriculture, have opened many opportunities for projects with the integration of these two areas. This paper shows the development of a solution to monitoring crops using the Internet of Things. The sensors and actuators for this precision agriculture design are able to exchange data with an embedded server, which runs on an Intel Edison device. Therefore, an ad-hoc wireless sensor network is established among the devices, using the MQTT protocol. As a result, the monitoring and control of a watering crop project were possible using the proposed solution. In addition, the embedded server allowed the creation of a web interface for the farmer, which can interact with the whole system throughout a web browser.Keywords: Embedded server. O Uso da Tecnologia pela Comunidade Indígena Riozinho Kakumhu: uma análise dos impactos e das perspectivas para a educação e a conservação cultural

Brazil is a country of superlatives, with expressive cultural diversity, and when we approach the richness of the indigenous people and their cultural expressions, this characteristic stands out. The reflections presented in this article point to the analysis of the consequences of the use of technology disconnected from indigenous knowledge and experiences, as at the same time these technological tools can bring acculturation and hope to the native people. Through documentary and bibliographic samples, this work seeks to portray the challenges and opportunities that technology brings to the Akwẽ-Xerente people of the Riozinho Kakumhu community, in the municipality of Tocantínia, state of Tocantins. Exposing the history of the people and their community, observing the importance of the school and education for the local inhabitants, the leadership of teachers in the society, the challenges of modernity and the association of technology for the construction of pedagogical innovation and the maintenance of cultural traditions.O Brasil é um país de superlativos, com grande diversidade cultural, e quando são abordadas a riqueza dos povos indígenas e suas expressões culturais, essa característica se destaca. As reflexões apresentadas neste artigo apontam para a análise das consequências do uso da tecnologia desconectada dos saberes e vivencias indígenas e de como ao mesmo tempo essas ferramentas tecnológicas podem trazer aculturação e, também, esperança para os povos originários. Análise das mudanças na vegetação nativa da APA Lago de Palmas

This study aimed to understand the dynamics of Cerrado and Seasonal Forest vegetation, from 2000 to 2017, in ‘Lago de Palmas’ Environmental Preservation Area (EPA). To do so, images from the Landsat satellite and the Spring 5.5.3 free software were used. Two thematic maps of the study area were made to estimate, through comparative analysis, the process of native vegetation replacement. The Maxver and Isoseg methods were used for the following land cover classes: Native Vegetation – Dense Forest and Native Vegetation – Campo, exposed soil and watercourse. For the correction and validation, historical images from Google Earth Pro were used. The results indicate there was a loss of 38.56% of native vegetation, the urban center expanded at a ratio of 14 times, and about 10,760.13 ha were flooded by the reservoir of Lajeado plant, resulting in loss of land, trees, and biodiversity. It is inferred that EPA does not fulfill the role established by the environmental legislation, because its occupation occurs in a disorderly way, there is no management plan, and the mappings show a systematic replacement of native vegetation by water mass, agricultural areas, and urbanization.Neste estudo propõe-se conhecer a dinâmica da vegetação de Cerrado e Floresta Estacional, no período de 2000 a 2017, na Área de Preservação Ambiental (APA) Lago de Palmas, utilizando-se imagens do satélite Landsat e o software livre Spring 5.5.3. Foram construídos dois mapas temáticos da área estudada para estimar, por meio de análise comparativa, o processo de substituição da vegetação nativa, utilizaram-se os métodos Maxver e Isoseg para as classes de cobertura da terra: Vegetação nativa – Mata densa, Vegetação nativa – Campo, Solo exposto e Curso hídrico, na correção e validação recorreram-se às imagens históricas do Google Earth Pro. Os resultados indicam que houve uma perda de 38,56% da vegetação nativa, o centro urbano expandiu em uma proporção de 14 vezes, cerca de 10.760,13 ha foram inundados pelo reservatório da usina do Lajeado, resultando a perda de terra, árvores e biodiversidade. Infere-se que a APA não cumpre o papel previsto na legislação ambiental, pois sua ocupação é feita de forma desordenada, não existe plano de manejo, os mapeamentos indicam uma sistemática substituição da vegetação nativa por massa d’água, áreas agrícolas e de urbanização

water absorption in bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) DURING PROCESSIN

The purpose of this paper was to estimate and to evaluate the hydration curves of three kinds of dry bean varieties (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), besides adjusting the Peleg’s model to the experimental values under several soaking temperatures. Bean seeds of pinto, black and red kidney varieties were soaked in distilled water in the temperatures of 20, 30, 40 and 50 °C. The constant C1 (Peleg rate constant) significantly decreased with increase in temperature (20 a 50 °C) demonstrating that the initial rate of water absorption increased with temperature. The three bean varieties exhibited a high rate of water absorption in the beginning of the hydration process, being that Peleg’s model adjusted satisfactorily to the experimental data
