Słowniki Bartłomieja z Bydgoszczy (1532 i 1544). Stan badań i perspektywy badawcze

The purpose of this article is to recall the 16th century Latin-Polish dictionaries by Bartholomew of Bydgoszcz. The article describes the figure of the monk, the history of his works as well as their structure and contents. The interest in the lexicons grew in the 70s of the 20th century when a manuscript dated 1532 (considered to be lost after the second world war) was found and a dictionary dated 1544 was unexpectedly discovered. A decision was made then to (jointly) publish both lexicons in the reversed version (Polish-Latin). This project still has not been completed which certainly has had its effect on the researchers’ weakening interest in the dictionaries and a small number of publications. Risk Perception of Cigarette and E-cigarette use during Pregnancy: A Qualitative Postpartum Perspective

Aim: The aim of this exploratory qualitative analysis is to assess the perceptions of risks of cigarette and e-cigarette use during pregnancy. Background: An important public health aim is a reduction of smoking at time of delivery (SATOD) from 10.6% to less than 6% by 2022 in the United Kingdom (UK). In order to successfully meet this target, we need to have a better understanding of the perceived risks associated with cigarette smoking. Additionally, the use of e-cigarettes is increasing in the general population, with pregnant women being supported to use such products if it helps them remain smoke free. However, in contrast to cigarette smoking, there is little definitive research assessing the safety of e-cigarette use during pregnancy, with most information disregarding the health of the growing fetus. E-cigarettes are of special interest, given they are an unlicensed product for use during pregnancy, yet women are being supported to use them as a method of harm reduction. A better understanding of perceived risks is essential. Method: Fourteen interviews were conducted one month postpartum with women who smoked during pregnancy and continued to smoke after the birth. Thematic analysis was conducted. Suzanne Froggatt, Nadja Reissland, Judith Covey 2 Findings: Two themes emerged for cigarette smoking; health and justifications. Six themes were identified for e-cigarette use; the unknown, experience, comparison to cigarettes, the product, advice and healthier option. A range of subthemes are discussed. Conclusion: Women provided a range of justifications for continuing to smoke during pregnancy. Women felt e-cigarettes were a riskier option than continuing to smoke

The article is devoted to the poetics of the image of a Pole as an artist in the historical prose of Roman Ivanychuk. The subject of the research are the most popular works: Manuscript from Ruska street, Water from stone, Scars on the Rock and Because the War is War. In the article characteristic features of outstanding figures of Polish origin in Roman Ivanychuk prose are analyzed. Moreover, the importance of such notions as image, image-antithesis, symbol and stereotype has been examined.Стаття присвячена поетиці образу поляка-артиста в історичної прозі Романа Іваничука. Об'єктом дослідження є найпопулярніші твори українського письменника: Манускрипт з вулиці Руської, Вода з каменю, Шрами на скалі і Бо війна війною. Akta polskich organizacji, stowarzyszeń i związków przechowywane w zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Bydgoszczy

Files of Polish organizations, associations and societies account for only a small percentage of archives held at the National Archives in Bydgoszcz. Their conservation status in terms of quantity varies, limiting research possibilities concerning their structure and activity. Files of every organization, association and society create an independent archival group. Each of them has been provided with information on archival support making possible navigation among archives. Files that are stored only in part are included in a collection of remnants, comprising files of several organizations that have remained in a residual form. All information on archives presented are available in an online version on the portal Search in Archives available on the website of the National Archives in Bydgoszcz. The presented files, despite their residual nature, frequently serve as unique historical sources; however, they encourage expansion of searches by complementary archives containing important information on many organizations, associations and  societies, e.g. files of state administration authorities and bodies due to their role in supervision over activity
