N=1 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills on the lattice at strong coupling
We study N=1 supersymmetric SU(N) Yang-Mills theory on the lattice at strong
coupling. Our method is based on the hopping parameter expansion in terms of
random walks, resummed for any value of the Wilson parameter r in the small
hopping parameter region. Results are given for the mesonic (2-gluino) and
fermionic (3-gluino) propagators and spectrum.Comment: Latex file. 43 pages. Minor additional comments, references added,

Length-weight relationships of coral reef fishes from the Alacran Reef, Yucatan, Mexico
Length-weight relationships were computed for 42 species of coral reef fishes from 14 families from the Alacran Reef (Yucatan, Mexico). A total of 1 892 individuals was used for this purpose. The fish species were caught by different fishing techniques such as fishhooks, harpoons, gill and trawl nets. The sampling period was from March 1998 to January 2000
Dynamical detection of three triple stellar systems in open clusters
We present a kinematic analysis of three triple stellar systems belonging to
two open clusters: CPD-60{\deg}961 and HD66137 in NGC2516, and HD315031 in
NGC6530. All three systems are hierarchical triples with a close binary bound
to a third body in a wider orbit, whose presence is detected through velocity
variations of the close binary barycentre. Orbital parameters are derived from
radial velocity curves. Absolute parameters for all stars are estimated
assuming cluster membership. Some dynamical and evolutionary aspects of these
systems are discussed, particularly the possible influence of Kozai cycles. The
two systems of NGC2516 have similar orbital configurations with inner periods
of 11.23 d and 8.70 d and outer periods of 9.79 yr and 9.24 yr. We report also
radial velocity measurements of the components of the visual binary
CPD-60{\deg}944 in NGC2516. Including results from previous works, this cluster
would harbor 5 hierarchical triples. The young system HD315031 has an inner
binary with a period of 1.37 d and a very eccentric (e=0.85) outer orbit with a
period of 483 d. Possible dynamical evolutionary scenarios are discussed.
Long-term radial velocity monitoring is highlighted as strategy for the
detection of subsystems with intermediate separations, which are hard to cover
with normal spectroscopic studies or visual techniques.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures. Accepted by Monthly Notices of the Royal

Players Indifferent to Cooperate and Characterizations of the Shapley Value
In this paper we provide new axiomatizations of the Shapley value for TU-games using axioms that are based on relational aspects in the interactions among players. Some of these relational aspects, in particular the economic or social interest of each player in cooperating with each other, can be found embedded in the characteristic function. We define a particular relation among the players that it is based on mutual indifference. The first newaxiom expresses that the payoffs of two playerswho are not indifferent to each other are affected in the same way if they become enemies and do not cooperate with each other anymore. The second new axiom expresses that the payoff of a player is not affected if players to whom it is indifferent leave the game. We show that the Shapley value is characterized by these two axioms together with the well-known efficiency axiom. Further, we show that another axiomatization of the Shapley value is obtained if we replace the second axiom and efficiency by the axiom which applies the efficiency condition to every class of indifferent players. Finally, we extend the previous results to the case of weighted Shapley values. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012
Inelastic light scattering and the excited states of many-electron quantum dots
A consistent calculation of resonant inelastic (Raman) scattering amplitudes
for relatively large quantum dots, which takes account of valence-band mixing,
discrete character of the spectrum in intermediate and final states, and
interference effects, is presented. Raman peaks in charge and spin channels are
compared with multipole strengths and with the density of energy levels in
final states. A qualitative comparison with the available experimental results
is given.Comment: 5 pages, accepted in J. Phys.: Condens. Matte
A linear filter to reconstruct the ISW effect from CMB and LSS observations
The extraction of a signal from some observational data sets that contain
different contaminant emissions, often at a greater level than the signal
itself, is a common problem in Astrophysics and Cosmology. The signal can be
recovered, for instance, using a simple Wiener filter. However, in certain
cases, additional information may also be available, such as a second
observation which correlates to a certain level with the sought signal. In
order to improve the quality of the reconstruction, it would be useful to
include as well this additional information. Under these circumstances, we have
constructed a linear filter, the linear covariance-based filter, that extracts
the signal from the data but takes also into account the correlation with the
second observation. To illustrate the performance of the method, we present a
simple application to reconstruct the so-called Integrated Sachs-Wolfe effect
from simulated observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background and of
catalogues of galaxies.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in the IEEE Journal of

Developmental and functional effects of steroid hormones on the neuroendocrine axis and spinal cord
This review highlights the principal effects of steroid hormones at central and peripheral levels in the neuroendocrine axis. The data discussed highlight the principal role of oestrogens and testosterone in hormonal programming in relation to sexual orientation, reproductive and metabolic programming, and the neuroendocrine mechanism involved in the development of polycystic ovary syndrome phenotype. Moreover, consistent with the wide range of processes in which steroid hormones take part, we discuss the protective effects of progesterone on neurodegenerative disease and the signalling mechanism involved in the genesis of oestrogen-induced pituitary prolactinomas.Fil: Zubeldia Brenner, Lautaro. Linear and nonlinear coupling of quantum dots in microcavities
We discuss the topical and fundamental problem of strong-coupling between a
quantum dot an the single mode of a microcavity. We report seminal quantitative
descriptions of experimental data, both in the linear and in the nonlinear
regimes, based on a theoretical model that includes pumping and quantum
statistics.Comment: Proceedings of the symposium Nanostructures: Physics and Technology

EVALUATION OF THE ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF THE FLAVONOIDS ISOLATED FROM HELIOTROPIUM SINUATUM RESIN USING ORACFL, DPPH AND ESR METHODOLOGIES
Indexación: Web of Science; Scielo. The antioxidant capacity has been determined for a number of flavonoid compounds from Heliotropium sinuatum, a plant that grows in arid areas in the north of Chile. The methodologies used were: ORAC(FL) (oxygen radical absorbance capacity - fluorescein), DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) bleaching and electron spin resonance (ESR). These compounds were studied in homogeneous and heterogeneous media. The results showed that the 7-o-methyleriodictiol and 3-o-methylisorhamnetin are those with the highest antioxidant capacity.http://ref.scielo.org/m82cz
