Coexistence among owners, tenants and guests in the houses of Madrid (1740-1808)

La casa constituye el marco espacial dentro del que analizar las distintas formas de convivencia que se desarrollaron entre sus habitantes. Madrid, dada su condición de capital de la Monarquía y sede de la corte, representa un escenario clave a la hora de estudiar ciertos modelos relativos a este ámbito. Por una parte, la predominante forma de ocupación que supuso el alquiler nos ha llevado a interesarnos por las prácticas relativas a la convivencia, resultado de la vecindad entre propietarios e inquilinos residentes en el mismo inmueble. Por otra, se ha considerado necesario profundizar en el estadio de evolución en el que se hallaba el uso de dotar de alojamiento en casas particulares a los empleados al servicio de la Corona, beneficiarios de la regalía de Aposento, para la segunda mitad del siglo XVIIIThe house is the spatial framework where analyze various forms of coexistence developed among its inhabitants. Madrid, given its status as capital of the monarchy and seat of the Court, represents a scenario that is key when analyzing certain models. On the one hand, the predominant form of occupation which was rental has led us to be interested in practices related to coexistence, result of the proximity between landlords and tenants living in the same building. On the other hand, it has been considered necessary to understand the stage of evolution in which was the use of providing private accommodation for employees at the service of the Crown, beneficiaries of the regalía de Aposento, for the second half of the 18th centur

The reproduction of social and material models within the families at the service of the Inquisition

Este trabajo presenta el estudio de un caso que nos permitirá aproximarnos a las dinámicas sociales, así como a los parámetros culturales, de quienes desempeñaban un cargo dentro la Inquisición. Para ello nos hemos basado en el análisis de la cultura material que aparecía recogida en las escrituras notariales –cuenta de capital y carta de dote-. El seguimiento y reproducción de modelos sociales tradicionales, buscando la consolidación del “linaje”, y su anclaje en los patrones de la ortodoxia católica son los que caracterizaban la vida familiar y material del matrimonio formado por un portero de estrados del Consejo de Inquisición y la hija de un familiar del Santo Oficio a finales del siglo XVIIIThis paper presents the study of a case that will allow us to approach the social dynamics, as well as the cultural parameters that were developed within the group that constituted who held a position within the Inquisition. We have based on the analysis of the material culture that appeared collected in notarial deeds - capital account and dowry letter -. Domestic religiosity of the social elites who served the Monarchy during the eighteenth century. Material images of pious attitudes

Las prácticas religiosas hallaron dentro de la vivienda durante la Edad Moderna un marco excepcional para su desarrollo. En este artículo nos proponemos conocer los aspectos relativos a los ámbitos de la devoción y la piedad de las elites sociales madrileñas que ejercían un cargo al servicio de la Monarquía, a partir del análisis de los elementos materiales de carácter religioso que aparecen recogidos en las cuentas de capital, las cartas de dote y en los inventarios de bienes de sus miembros. La presencia de imágenes y objetos de carácter sagrado dentro de las distintas estancias que componían las viviendas, nos habrán de permitir calibrar el significado de lo religioso en la vida doméstica de aquellas familias, atendiendo a factores de carácter espiritual, siguiendo ciertas tendencias socio-culturales, por tradición o vinculación familiar, etc.Religious practices found in the house during the Early Modern period an exceptional framework to their development.
