[EN] : In this article we analyse the shift that the textileclothing sector has recently suffered in the Valencian Central Counties from the role played by the institutions of the local innovation system. This paper includes the main results derived from different research projects undertaken between 2004 and 2009. The analytical framework used is based on the innovation systems approach, which emphasizes not only the existence of organizations supporting the industry, but also their behavioural relationships. Thus, we identify the sources of innovation in an industry localized in a peripheral region with low technological intensity. Ortega Colomer, FJ.; Golf Laville, EJ. [EN] The current characteristics, concerns, preferences, and interests of students differ greatly from the previous students¿ generations. Nowadays, students are increasingly demanding active methodologies that facilitate their learning process. To meet the actual students¿ requirements, academic research is focused on the definition of educational mechanisms that promote greater students¿ participation. Among these mechanisms, the project-based learning (PBL) is a model that organizes learning around projects. Projects are student-driven and provide more tangible results what has been considered as a positive aspect to deepen and retain knowledge. The main objective of this paper is to describe all the activities performed to plan, define, design and project an integrated PBL model for students in the last years (3rd and 4th year students) of the Computer Engineering Degree. The PBL model involves the following subjects: (i) Software Engineering; (ii) Project Management; (ii) Business Requirements Analysis and (iv) Business Models and Organisation Functional Areas. The PBL model has twofold perspectives, the first one is more project and software-directed while the second one is more businessoriented. This model seeks to give continuity to the teaching-learning process so that students can appreciate greater coherence, links, and succession of the contents of different subjects. Moreover, the definition of the PBL model will also support the enhancement of the horizontal and vertical transversal coordination among different subjects. This article has been supported by the Vice-rectorate for Digital Resources and Documentation (Vicerrectorado de Recursos Digitales y Documentación) and Vice-Rectorate for Studies, Quality and Accreditation (Vicerrectorado de Estudios, Calidad y Acreditación) under the Call for Learning + Teaching (Convocatoria Aprendizaje + Docencia (A+D 2019)) and Project Code: 1678-A. The renewable energy in Spain

Renewable energies have in Spain become a very dynamic sector. The need to implement European Directives to address climate change issues, has been joined by the requirements to improve energy efficiency and to reduce the external dependence. This article discusses the keys to this process, highlighting both the factors that have enabled the rapid growth of some technologies (preferably wind and solar), and the limitations imposed by both budgetary consolidation processes as growth accelerated some of them

Enhancing STEM Education through Interactive Metaverses: A Case Study and Methodological Framework

[EN] In recent years, the rapid growth of virtual reality has opened up new possibilities for creating immersive virtual worlds known as metaverses. With advancements in technology, such as virtual reality headsets, and the emergence of applications with social interaction, metaverses offer exciting opportunities for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. This article proposes the integration of metaverses into STEM courses, enabling students to forge connections between different subjects within their curriculum, to leverage current technological advancements, and to revolutionize project presentations and audience interaction. Drawing upon a case study conducted with students enrolled in the ¿Proyectos RII 1: Organización y Escenarios¿ course at the Escuela Politécnica Superior de Alcoy of the Technical University of Valencia (Spain), this article provides a comprehensive description of the methodology employed by the students and professors. It outlines the process followed, shedding light on the innovative use of metaverses in their projects. Moreover, the article shares valuable insights obtained through surveys and personal opinions gathered from students throughout the course and upon its completion. By exploring the intersection of metaverses and STEM education, this study showcases the transformative potential of integrating interactive virtual environments. Furthermore, this work highlights the benefits of increased student engagement, motivation, and collaboration, as well as the novel ways in which projects can be presented and interactions with audiences can be redefined. This research was funded by the Spanish Government (Grant PID2020-117421RB-C21 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033)Solanes, JE.; Montava-Jordà, S.; Golf Laville, EJ.; Colomer-Romero, V.; Gracia Calandin, LI.; Muñoz García, A.
