Comparison of NACA 65-series compressor-blade pressure distributions and performance in a rotor and in cascade

    Get PDF
An investigation has been conducted to compare the performance of NACA 65-series compressor blades in two-dimensional cascade with that in an axial flow compressor. Blade pressure distributions were obtained by the use of a mercury-seal pressure-transfer device. The comparison indicated that cascade data accurately predicted the turning angle and blade pressure distribution obtained in the compressor at design conditions

Exploring Ableism through Teacher Identity and Empowerment: Teaching about Disability through a Campus Common Reader

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to find how teacher candidates at a southwestern regional university understood ableism and empowerment based on their reading and interaction with the campus common reader. This work was important to help future teachers form healthy instructional practices that are inclusive of all students, regardless of ability in their future classrooms. The findings of this study showed evidence that this reading experience was transformative in helping teacher candidates form a teacher identity that was not only inclusive and welcoming of all, but also empowering

APPROXIMATE SOLUTION OF FRACTIONAL ORDER MATHEMATICAL MODEL ON THE CO-TRANSMISSION OF ZIKA AND CHIKUNGUNYA VIRUS USING LAPLACE ADOMIAN DECOMPOSITION METHOD

Gaining insight into the transmission dynamics of the Zika and Chikungunya viruses, as well as their co-infection, is essential for implementing efficient public health interventions. This paper presents a comprehensive fractional order mathematical model consisting of thirteen non-linear compartments to accurately represent the intricate interactions between humans and infected mosquito populations, as well as the challenges associated with their identification. In order to solve this model, we utilize the Laplace Adomians Decomposition Method (LADM), which is a very effective analytical technique for solving nonlinear differential equations. By utilizing LADM, we obtained infinite series solutions for the previously given model that ultimately converged to its precise solutions. The numerical simulations of the model demonstrate the transmission patterns of Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, and their co-infections for different values of . We utilized the fmicon algorithm, a MATLAB optimization tool, to accurately fit into the model, real-life data from Espirito Santos State in Brazil, where two viruses are concurrently spreading. The simulation deduce that, reducing mosquito biting rates and promoting compliance with treated bed net usage can substantially mitigate Zika-Chikungunya co-infection dynamics

Bureaucratic Kind: Early Freshman Encounters with a Campus Bureaucracy

Abstract: A study examined the early encounters of traditional-age freshmen with a campus bureaucracy. Data were collected through semistructured interviews with traditional-age freshmen at a state university and with staff in the offices that dealt with them. The results revealed that although students did sometimes experience their encounters with the campus bureaucracy as annoying, frustrating, and confusing, their actions were mediated by their relative powerlessness and their interpretations of their experiences and options; that students' comments about their problems with the bureaucracy related to lines and waiting, impersonality, rules, the fact that specialized offices were scattered across various buildings, and paperwork; that students generally chose to be nonconfrontational when dealing with the bureaucracy; and that staff members experienced difficulties in trying to make the system work and managing their sometimes conflictual relationships with students.
