Does spirit truly arise from where it wishes? A critical analysis of three modes of understanding the phenomenology of religion

El artículo estudia tres diferentes formas de entender la fenomenología de la religión que denomina metodológico-hermenéutica, fundamentativo-trascendental y pático-testimonial a través del análisis crítico de ejemplos paradigmáticos de cada una de ellas. El análisis se propone, en primer lugar, exponer los rasgos metodológicos y las diferencias esenciales de cada una de estas tres perspectivas. En segundo lugar, explicita de qué manera la perspectiva pático-testimonial permite conjugar la revelación religiosa y la filosofía fenomenológica y legitima la multiplicidad de manifestaciones confesionales y no confesionales de la religión. Finalmente muestra en qué medida esta tercera perspectiva «disuelve» los problemas de universalidad y fundamentación inherentes a las otras dos.The article studies three different modes of understanding the phenomenology of religion, which are called the methodological-hermeneutical, the foundational-transcendental, and the pathic-testimonial standpoints, by a critical analysis of paradigmatic examples of each view. This analysis attempts, first, to explain the methodological features and the essential differences of each of the three perspectives. Second, the article shows how the pathic-testimonial viewpoint allows a convergence between religious revelation and phenomenological philosophy, and legitimates the manifoldness of confessional and non-confessional manifestations of religion. History and sacrifice. Access to the religious phenomenon in Jan Patočka’s thought

El artículo analiza la significación del pensamiento de J. Patočka para un acceso no confesional al fenómeno religioso. El análisis persigue dos objetivos. Primero determinar en qué medida los fundamentos de su filosofía de la historia implican una conmoción del orden fenoménico que abre el pensamiento hacia el Misterio que trasciende pero, a la vez, posibilita la historia humana. Segundo, explicitar el sacrificio como el medio por excelencia a través del cual el hombre en la era nihilista puede religarse con el llamado de ese Misterio trascendente a realizar la infinita riqueza del ser y mantener viva la historia como historia con sentido.The paper analyzes the significance of J. Patočka’s thought for a non confessional access to the religious phenomenon. The analysis pursues two objectives. Firstly, to determine to what extent the foundations of his philosophy of history imply a commotion of the phenomenal order that opens the thought to the Mystery that transcends, but, at the same time, makes human history a reality. Sobre la esencia del sentimiento. Un diálogo hermenéutico crítico con M. Scheler y M. Henry

Drawing on a hermeneutic-critical dialogue first with M. Scheler’s position and then with M. Henry’s stance, this article attempts a phenomenological analysis of feelings as intentional acts. First, it explores the essence of feeling as a strict correlation between the self-affectivity experienced by the lived body (subjective correlate) and the pathetic character of the world (objective correlate).This relationship is characterized according to a twofold reversion of the intentional direction that holds between both correlates. Second, the notion of “capability of taking interest in” is introduced as an originary transcendental condition of possibility for feelings.A partir de un diálogo hermenéutico-crítico con el pensamiento primero de M. Scheler y luego de M. Henry el artículo emprende un análisis fenomenológico de los sentimientos en tanto actos intencionales. Primero se elucida la esencia del sentimiento como una estricta correlación entre la auto-afectividad experimentada en el cuerpo viviente (correlato subjetivo) y el carácter patético del mundo (correlato objetivo), y se caracteriza esta correlación en función de una doble reversión de la dirección intencional que se da entre ambos correlatos. When the eternity makes history: Observations on the relationship between history, existence and eternity from the philosophy of the history of Jan Patočka

El artículo desarrolla una hermenéutica fenomenológica de las relaciones entre historia, sentido, existencia y eternidad en la filosofía de la historia de Jan Patočka. Primero determina las nociones de sentido e historia. Luego explicita en qué medida la existencia humana constituye la condición de posibilidad de un sentido problemático y concurrente de la historia. Finalmente analiza la "existencia en la verdad" como resultado de una correlación entre existenciariedad y eternidad y comprende la interpelación de la eternidad como origen del sentido.This article develops a phenomenological hermeneutics of the relationship between history, meaning, existence, and eternity, on the basis afforded by Jan Patocka’s philosophy of history. First, it outlines the notions of meaning and history. Second, it attempts to make clear the degree in which one can find in the constitution of human existence the condition of possibility for a problematic and concurrent meaning of history. El odio. Una reconsideración

El artículo, a partir de una crítica a la concepción axiológica de Scheler, realiza un análisis fenomenológico-hermenéutico del odio que se concentra en la índole ontológica del fenómeno. Desde el punto de vista fenomenológico, describe los rasgos estructurales esenciales que posibilitan el surgimiento del odio. Dicha descripción se despliega tanto desde la perspectiva del modo en que se experimenta a sí mismo el sujeto que odia, cuanto del modo en que se da el objeto odiado. Desde el punto de vista hermenéutico, explicita el significado positivo y negativo del odio tanto en el plano ontológico como en el éticoOn the basis of a criticism of Scheler’s axiological theory, this article advances a phenomenological and hermeneutic analysis of hatred. The analysis focuses on the ontological character of the phenomenon. From a phenomenological point of view, it describes the essential structural traits that render possible the emergence of hatred. This description is developed considering both the modes in which the subject that hates experiences itself and the modes in which the hated object is given. El residuo invisible. Realidad, idealidad y fenomenología del tiempo en la filosofía crítica kantiana

Se analiza la estética trascendental y las analogías de la experiencia en la Crítica de la razón pura. Contra la afirmación kantiana del tiempo como mera forma de la intuición pura, el análisis procura mostrar: 1) en qué medida el tiempo real, cósmico o tiempo propiamente dicho, aun cuando no pueda ser asido en sí mismo, debe suponerse como determinante de las características generales de la temporalidad propia de las relaciones objetivas entre los fenómenos; y, 2) en qué medida esta temporalidad implica a su vez una fenomenología encubierta de la temporalidad conciencial inmanente.The article analyses the trascendental aesthetics and the analogies of experience in the Critique of Pure Reason. Against the kantian assertion about time as a mere form of pure intuition, the analysis endeavours to show: first, up to which extent real, cosmic time o time proper, even when it cannot be apprehended in itself, must be presupposed as determining the general characteristics of the temporality inhering in the objective relations among phenomena; and second: up to which extent does that temporality imply a covert phenomenology of the immanent conciential temporality.Fil: Garrido Maturano, Ángel Enrique. A glimpse of lucidity: Phenomenological interpretation of Kierkegaard’s instant

The article attempts a phenomenological and hermeneutical analysis of Kierkegaard’s notion of instant conceived as the synthesis of time and eternity from an anthropological and existential viewpoint. It first shows the concrete instant as a correlation between the absolute meaning freely assumed for his existence by a subject and an event by virtue of which the sum total of what he is demands a decision in favor of that meaning as a means to catch a glimpse of the absolute and eternal in time. Secondly, the article explains how the instant requires a conjunction of faith and wisdom, which is termed lucidity, in order to make itself concrete.El presente artículo realiza un análisis fenomenológico-hermenéutico del concepto kierkegaardiano de instante como síntesis de tiempo y eternidad desde una perspectiva antropológica y existencial. Muestra, primero, el instante concreto como una correlación entre la asunción libre del sujeto de un sentido absoluto para su existencia, y un acontecimiento a través del cual el conjunto de lo que es le requiere decidirse por ese sentido para que pueda vislumbrarse lo absoluto y eterno en el tiempo.
