    The role of information in fishery development becomes very important now. The information represents source forunderstanding creation, opening of knowledge and assisting in efficient and effective decision-making. Growth ofscience and technology especially in submitting information by using media oblige fishermen for more selectivechosen source of effective information so they will be able to facilitate effort system of fishery catch. The purpose ofthis research was to know the characteristic of fishermen in Parangtritis village, to know access information sourceand to study the characteristic relation of fishermen access to the information source. This research was executed atParangtritis village, Sub district of Kretek, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta in March - May 2004 by using correlationdescriptive method. Data collecting was conducted by using structured interview with questioner. Result of researchindicates that the fishermen generally are in productive age, most of fishermen status is a laborer, formal educationof fishermen generally is junior high school and senior high school, and they have followed non formal education.Their earnings are between Rp.500.000 - Rp. 1.000.000. The fishermen generally access the interpersonal mediainformation source by way of humanity communication and group, newspaper and electronic media - radio andTelevision. Result of research indicates that only some components of characteristic relate to access of informationsource by interpersonal media, press and the electronic. Fishermen status have a negative real correlation withinformation access through radio, non formal education of fisheries has a very real correlation with informationaccess through communications among fishermen and television media, has a real correlation with informationaccess in groups and newspaper media.     Optimization of Standard Mix Design of Porous Paving Coconut Fiber and Shell for The Parking Area

    The pavement in the parking area is usually concrete paving with class B quality with a flat surface appearance, no cracks, and defects, minimum thickness of 60 mm with a tolerance of ± 8%. The condition of parking area infrastructure which in the rainy season occurred water puddles which is a common problem that arises this is due to high rainfall is also not able to absorb rainwater runoff into the soil. The use of natural materials for pavement construction is a must in supporting the achievement of green roads. This paper aims to obtain the most optimal mixture of standard design strengths using coconut fibers and coconut shell as a coarse aggregate with a ratio of 10%, 20%, 30%, 50%, 100% and the parameters used in this study are a compressive strength, permeability, and porosity resulting from the test object. The research methodology used refers to ACI 522.1-08, ACI 522R-10, ASTM C33-78. 2010, SNI 03-0691-1996, and SNI 03-2847-2002. Based on data processing of laboratory test results obtained from this study, the optimum value of the combination of 21% has a compressive strength of 17.1 MPa, permeability 0.5 cm/sec, and 23% porosit

    Evaluation of The Strength of Coconut Shell Aggregate Concrete Block for Parking Area

    The development of green technology requires the utilization of waste products and processing of them into cheap and environmentally friendly materials. The idea was applied in the concrete block (conblock) production. The usage of coconut shell waste for the concrete mixed material will reduce the cost and produce an environmentally friendly road conblock for pavement, which also quickly absorbs runoff into the soil so that pavement is more durable.The purpose of this research was to evaluate the compressive strength of concrete obtained by the addition of fine aggregate mixture and a coarse aggregate of coconut shell. The test specimens used were cubes with a size of 15x15x15 cm consisting of 5 samples for each variation of coconut shell and powder content (0%, 20%, 25%, and 30%) and tested at 28 days.The average yield of compressive strength and absorption at 28 days were 18.5 MPa and 22% for 0% variation, 11.4 MPa and 16% for 20% variation, 7.6 MPa and 14% for 25% variation, and 6.7 MPa and 12% for 30% variation. The results inform that the concrete given a mixture of fine and coarse aggregate coconut shell has decreasing compressive strength and absorption

    Faecal carriage of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae among humans in Java, Indonesia, in 2001-2002

    Item does not contain fulltextOBJECTIVE: To characterise commensal Escherichia coli and other Enterobacteriaceae with reduced susceptibility to cefotaxime that were collected in a large survey carried out among 3995 patients and healthy persons in two urban regions on Java, Indonesia, in 2001-2002. METHODS: The putative extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae were analysed using double-disk synergy tests, isoelectric focusing, PCR assays, DNA sequencing, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). RESULTS: On the day of discharge after five or more days of hospitalisation, at least 95 of 999 (9.5%) patients carried ESBL-positive Enterobacteriaceae as dominant faecal flora. Six patients were simultaneously colonised with E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates with ESBL activity. On admission, only 6 of 998 (0.6%) patients were colonised. Faecal carriage of ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae among healthy persons or persons visiting a public health centre was not detected. The 107 ESBL-positive strains included 68 E. coli, 35 K. pneumoniae, and four other Enterobacteriaceae. bla(CTX-M-15) was the most prevalent ESBL in both E. coli (47.1%) and K. pneumoniae (45.7%), but the E. coli O25b-ST131 clone was virtually absent. Other ESBL types found were: SHV-2, -2a, -5, -12, CTX-M-3, -9, -14, and TEM-19. PFGE revealed extensive genetic diversity among the isolates. CONCLUSIONS: In 2001-2002, faecal carriage of ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae as dominant flora in Indonesia was almost exclusively hospital-associated. The presence of various bla(ESBL) genes and the extensive genetic diversity among isolates argue against a single/dominant strain outbreak
