Energy harvesting from vehicular traffic over speed bumps: A review
Energy used by vehicles to slow down in areas of limited speed is wasted. A traffic energy-harvesting device (TEHD) is capable of harvesting vehicle energy when passing over a speed bump. This paper presents a classification of the different technologies used in the existing TEHDs. Moreover, an estimation of the energy that could be harvested with the different technologies and their cost has been elaborated. The energy recovered with these devices could be used for marking and lighting of roads in urban areas, making transportation infrastructures more sustainable and environmentally friendly

Este trabajo presenta los contenidos del curso “Web
2.0: Arquitectura Orientada a Servicios en Java” de
la Escuela de Posgrado de la Universidad de Granada.
El objetivo del curso es familiarizar al alumno
con la programación de ServiciosWeb. Dada la gran
variedad de técnicas disponibles para utilizar Arquitectura
Orientada a Servicios, se presentan los siguientes
temas: utilización de protocolos bien definidos
para comunicación y contrato (SOAP y WSDL),
creación de Web Services con JAX-WS y orquestación
de ServiciosWeb con BPEL. Al final del curso,
el alumno será capaz de crear, utilizar y mantener
Servicios Web para el desarrollo de aplicaciones interempresariales,
utilizando servicios creados o ya
disponibles en la web, así como la orquestación lógica

“Web 2.0: Service Oriented Architecture on Java”
from the Graduate School of the University of Granada.
The course objective is to familarize students
with Web Services programming. Due to the wide
variety of available technologies, several subjects
are presented: the usage of well-defined protocols
to contract and communication (SOAP and WSDL),
web services creation using JAX-WS, and service
orchestration with BPEL. At the end of the course,
students will be capable to create, use and manage
Web Services for business applications, using new
or available services in the web, and also their logical

enfermedades
y
fisiopatías
que
afectan
al
ajo
pueden
llegar
a
ocasionar
importantes
pérdidas
en
postcosecha,
de
vital
importancia
cuando
el
producto
se
destina
a
la
exportación
a
mercados
que
cada
día
son
más
exigentes.
En
2008,
distintos
agricultores
de
varios
municipios
de
Castilla
y
León
detectaron
bulbos
de
ajo
que
presentaban
síntomas
de
podredumbre
húmeda
durante
el
almacenamiento.
Posteriormente,
en
el
año
2009,
esta
misma
podredumbre
se
observó
también
en
las
provincias
de
Albacete
y
Cuenca
y
en
muestras
procedentes
de
Córdoba.
Hasta
la
fecha
se
ha
identificado
a
Fusarium
proliferatum
como
el
agente
causal
de
la
podredumbre
del
diente
Influencia del tratamiento químico con cloroformo/metanol en el comportamiento elástico del pericardio de ternera utilizado en la construcción de bioprótesis cardiacas
Se estudia el comportamiento mecánico del pericardio de ternera utilizado en la construcción de
bioprótesis cardiacas cuando se trata químicamente cloroformo/metanol (CM) comparándolo con
tratamiento estándar con glutaraldehído.(G). Se ensayan a tracción hasta rotura 40 probetas, veinte
con cada tratamiento y de estas el 50% suturadas en su parte central con seda 4/0.La perdida de
resistencia media a la rotura de las probetas suturadas fue de alrededor de 6 MPa sin encontrar
diferencias entre el tipo de tratamiento utilizado. No obstante en el análisis de las curvas promedio
estrés/deformación para valores de estrés a tracción inferiores a 2.5 MPa, apenas encontramos
diferencias entre las series suturadas y no suturadas tratadas con cloroformo/metanol anulando
parcialmente el efecto deletéreo de la sutura en ese rango de estrés que incluye el estrés estimado de
trabajo, de 0.25MPa.El tratamiento con cloroformo/metanol podría, además de retrasar los procesos
de calcificación del pericardio, mejorar el comportamiento elástico de las probetas suturadas
disminuyendo la interacción con la sutura. Ensayos de fatiga real con este tratamiento químico
deberán ser realizados para verificar esta hipótesis.Peer Reviewe
The nuclear and extended infrared emission of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 2992 and the interacting system Arp 245
We present subarcsecond resolution infrared (IR) imaging and mid-IR
spectroscopic observations of the Seyfert 1.9 galaxy NGC 2992, obtained with
the Gemini North Telescope and the Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC). The N-band
image reveals faint extended emission out to ~3 kpc, and the PAH features
detected in the GTC/CanariCam 7.5-13 micron spectrum indicate that the bulk of
this extended emission is dust heated by star formation. We also report
arcsecond resolution MIR and far-IR imaging of the interacting system Arp 245,
taken with the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Herschel Space Observatory.
Using these data, we obtain nuclear fluxes using different methods and find
that we can only recover the nuclear fluxes obtained from the subarcsecond data
at 20-25 micron, where the AGN emission dominates. We fitted the nuclear IR
spectral energy distribution of NGC 2992, including the GTC/CanariCam nuclear
spectrum (~50 pc), with clumpy torus models. We then used the best-fitting
torus model to decompose the Spitzer/IRS 5-30 spectrum (~630 pc) in AGN and
starburst components, using different starburst templates. We find that,
whereas at shorter mid-IR wavelengths the starburst component dominates (64% at
6 micron), the AGN component reaches 90% at 20 micron. We finally obtained dust
masses, temperatures and star formation rates for the different components of
the Arp 245 system and find similar values for NGC 2992 and NGC 2993. These
measurements are within those reported for other interacting systems in the

Physical and chemical characterization of cerium(IV) oxide nanoparticles
Chemical composition, size and structure of the nanoparticle are required to describe nanoceria. Nanoparticles of similar size and Ce(III) content might exhibit different chemical behaviour due to their differences in structure. A simple and direct procedure based on affordable techniques for all the laboratories is presented in this paper. The combination of Raman and UV-vis spectroscopy and particle impact coulometry (PIC) allows the characterization of nanoceria of small size from 4 to 65 nm at a concentration from micromolar to nanomolar, a concentration range suitable for the analysis of lab-prepared or commercial nanoparticle suspensions, but too high for most analytical purposes aimed at nanoparticle monitoring. While the PIC limits of size detection are too high to observe small nanoparticles unless catalytic amplification is used, the method provides a simple means to study aggregation of nanoparticles in the media they are needed to be dispersed for each application. Raman spectroscopy provided information about structure of the nanoparticle, and UV-vis about their chemical behaviour against some common reducing and oxidizing agents
Testing M2T/T2M Transformations

Miami, EEUU.Testing model-to-model (M2M) transformations is becoming a prominent topic in the current Model-driven Engineering landscape. Current approaches for transformation testing, however, assume having explicit model representations for the input domain and for the output domain of the transformation. This excludes other important transformation kinds, such as model-to-text (M2T) and text-to-model (T2M) transformations, from being properly tested since adequate model representations are missing either for the input domain or for the output domain. The contribution of this paper to overcome this gap is extending Tracts, a M2M transformation testing approach, for M2T/T2M transformation testing. The main mechanism we employ for reusing Tracts is to represent text within a generic metamodel. By this, we transform the M2T/T2M transformation specification problems into equivalent M2M transformation specification problems. We demonstrate the applicability of the approach by two examples and present how the approach is implemented for the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF). Ectopic ACTH syndrome in a dog with a mesenteric neuroendocrine tumour: a case report
Ectopic ACTH secretion is provoked by extra-pituitary tumours that secrete ACTH, constituting an infrequent type of Cushing Syndrome in the dog. Neuroendocrine tumours (NET) are characterised by the synthesis of peptides with hormone activity. A dog with clinical diagnosis of Cushing?s syndrome and presenting an abdominal tumour located in the area of the left adrenal gland was sent to the hospital. Cortisol was not inhibited at four and eight hours after the application of low-dose dexamethasone and the cortisol/creatinine ratio was elevated (93 × 10-6, reference values < 10 × 10?6). Plasma ACTH measurements were high (28.6 pmol/l, reference values 5.5?14.3 pmol/l). On computed tomography, the tumour was found in the meso-epigastrium, with both adrenal glands hyperplasic and no alteration of the pituitary image. The tumour was located between the two layers of the meso-colon and was removed using laparoscopy. After surgery, ACTH concentrations became normal and clinical signs remitted.
