Analytic Coulomb matrix elements in a three-dimensional geometry

Using a complete basis set we have obtained an analytic expression for the matrix elements of the Coulomb interaction. These matrix elements are written in a closed form. We have used the basis set of the three-dimensional isotropic quantum armonic oscillator in order to develop our calculations, which can be useful when treating interactions in localized systems.Comment: 3 pages, errat

Niveles de razonamiento de estudiantes de secundaria y bachillerato en una situación-problema de probabilidad

En el presente trabajo se explora la manera en que estudiantes de secundaria (14-15 años) y Bachillerato (15-16 años), que no han estudiado probabilidad, resuelven una tarea que involucra algunas nociones básicas de la teoría de probabilidades. El propósito es identificar los rasgos característicos de los niveles de razonamiento que exhiben los estudiantes cuando transitan de la secundaria al Bachillerato frente a una situación-problema de probabilidad. Se utiliza la taxonomía SOLO para organizar las respuestas en niveles estructurales. En general, los estudiantes de Bachillerato muestran un nivel más alto de razonamiento que los estudiantes de secundaria

Predicting the phase diagram of two-dimensional colloidal systems with long-range interactions

The phase diagram of a two-dimensional model system for colloidal particles at the air-water interface was determined using Monte Carlo computer simulations in the isothermic-isobaric ensemble. The micrometerrange binary colloidal interaction has been modeled by hard disklike particles interacting via a secondary minimum followed by a weaker longer-range repulsive maximum, both of the order of kBT. The repulsive part of the potential drives the clustering of particles at low densities and low temperatures. Pinned voids are formed at higher densities and intermediate values of the surface pressure. The analysis of isotherms, translational and orientational correlation functions as well as structure factor gives clear evidence of the presence of a melting first-order transition. However, the melting process can be also followed by a metastable route through a hexatic phase at low surface pressures and low temperatures, before crystalization occurs at higher surface pressur

Photonic Bandgap Closure and Metamaterial Behavior in 1D Periodic Chains of High-Index Nanobricks

It has been shown that the photonic bandgap of one-dimensional (1D) dielectric periodic thin films can vanish at the first Bragg condition for TM modes. Here, we address the case of 1D photonic crystal slabs formed by a chain of high-index dielectric particles with transversal confinement and show that the Bragg bandgap can vanish for both TE- and TM-like modes. Calculations using plane-wave expansion and finite-difference time-domain methods confirm that the PBG vanishes. PBG closure is explained as being a result of the interplay between the electric and magnetic dipole resonances of the isolated nanoparticle with Bragg resonance, as confirmed by calculating the electric and magnetic dipoles of the isolated nanobricks. This can be considered as a manifestation of the metamaterial behavior of the 1D system when using silicon as an underlying material. Our finding may have important consequences for the fields of photonic crystals and all-dielectric metamaterials

Análisis de las tablas y los gráficos estadísticos en libros de texto de Chile y España para la Educación Infantil

En este trabajo se analizan las representaciones estadísticas, tabular y gráfica, que están presentes en libros de textos chilenos y españoles para la Educación Infantil. Con este propósito analizamos el tipo de tabla y gráfico estadístico, el nivel de complejidad semiótica, el nivel de lectura, el tipo de tarea que se solicita a los estudiantes, y el contexto en el que se enmarca la actividad. Los resultados muestran que las actividades que hacen uso de tablas y gráficos estadísticos en los libros de Educación Infantil brindan apoyo al desarrollo de nociones de sentido numérico y, a la vez permiten explorar relaciones entre datos en contextos. En estudios futuros será necesario indagar en las ventajas y obstáculos que este tipo de representaciones pueden causar para el desarrollo tanto de la alfabetización estadística como de sentido numérico en estas edades.En este trabajo se analizan las representaciones estadísticas, tabular y gráfica, que están presentes en libros de texto chilenos y españoles para la Educación Infantil. Anatomical study about the variations in renal vasculature

Renal vascularization is classically described as a renal artery and vein. However, this vascular pattern presents numerous anatomical variations in terms of their number, origin and course due to ontogenetic alterations. The aim was to carry out a descriptive study of the renal vascular pattern observed during the dissection of cadavers intended for teaching purposes. A descriptive and observational study of renal vascular anatomy was carried out by dissecting 16 renal blocks from 8 cadavers donated to science and used for teaching at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza. The prevalence of arterial variations was 75% (56.3% for polar renal arteries, 12.5% for pre-hilar branching and 6.25% for double communicating arterial arch) and venous was 62.5% (12.5% for polar renal veins, 25% for late venous confluence, 6.25% for triple renal vein and 18.75% for double circumaortic renal vein). We conclude that the renal vascular anomalies occur with high frequency; for this reason, knowledge of these anomalies is extremely important for the correct planning of numerous medical-surgical activities

Analysis of the activities of bar graphs in primary education textbooks in Perú

Para ello, realizamos un análisis de contenido en una muestra de tres series completas de libros de texto de matemática (18 textos), estudiando el tipo de actividad. Los resultados muestran que esta representación se observa desde el primer curso, con el predominio de las actividades de calcular y construir.In this investigation, we analyze the sections where bar graphs are presented in mathematics textbooks of Primary Education in Perú. Based on the content analysis, we analyze a sample of three complete series of mathematics textbooks (18 texts), studying the type of activities proposed by the textbooks. This approach known as MOQZEA (Multiobjective Quality Zone Based Evolutionary Algorithm) is a hybr id evolutionary algorithm adapted to use a novel fitness function, based on the definition of quality zones for the different objective functions considered. This approach is conceived to solve wireless network design problems without previous information of the required number of transmitters, considering simultaneously a high number of objective functions and optimizing multiple configuration parameters of the transmitters

Pesquisa sobre tabelas e gráficos estatísticos em livros didáticos do ensino fundamental na Ibero-América: revisão de literatura

This article reports a literature review regarding research on statistical tables and graphs in primary school textbooks in Latin America, with the aim of providing the reader with an overview of what has been developed and some implications for the future. Under a qualitative methodology, a systematic review of the literature of the last 15 years was carried out, in five stages: 1) planning, 2) search, 3) selection, 4) quality evaluation, and 5) extraction and synthesis. The search was carried out in the open access database Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) and in the search engines Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar. From the search results, 39 investigations were selected: 29 published in journals and 10 in conference memoires. Among the findings, the geographic diagram shows a broad exploration and concentration of the research line only in some countries, with a focus on exploring the quality of activities and/or identifying the type of statistical representation used and its complexities to resolve tasks. In addition, a great variety of analysis units used for the development of these investigations is identified, placing them in analyzing the reading level, the level of semiotic complexity, the requested task and the type of context of the activities in which the tables and statistical graphics appear.En este artículo se reporta una revisión de literatura respecto a las investigaciones sobre tablas y gráficos estadísticos en libros de texto de educación primaria de Iberoamérica, con el objetivo de entregar al lector un panorama de lo desarrollado y algunas implicaciones a futuro. Bajo una metodología cualitativa, se realizó una revisión sistemática de literatura de los últimos 15 años, en cinco etapas: 1) planeación, 2) búsqueda, 3) selección, 4) evaluación de calidad, y 5) extracción y síntesis. La búsqueda se realizó en la base de datos de libre acceso Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) y en los buscadores Google Scholar y Semantic Scholar. De los resultados de la búsqueda, se seleccionaron 39 investigaciones: 29 publicadas en revistas y 10 en memorias de congresos. Entre los hallazgos, el diagrama geográfico evidencia una amplia exploración y concentración de la línea investigativa solo en algunos países, con un enfoque en la exploración de la calidad de las actividades y/o en identificar el tipo de representación estadística usada y sus complejidades para resolver las tareas. Además, se identifica una gran variedad de unidades de análisis empleadas para el desarrollo de estas investigaciones, situándolas en analizar el nivel de lectura, el nivel de complejidad semiótica, la tarea solicitada y el tipo de contexto de las actividades en las que aparecen las tablas y gráficos estadísticos.Este artigo apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica de pesquisas sobre tabelas e gráficos estatísticos em livros escolares do ensino fundamental na Ibero-América, com o objetivo de proporcionar ao leitor uma visão geral do que foi desenvolvido e algumas implicações para o futuro. Sob uma metodologia qualitativa, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura dos últimos 15 anos em cinco etapas: 1) planejamento, 2) busca, 3) seleção, 4) avaliação da qualidade, e 5) extração e síntese.
