O objetivo principal deste estudo é delinear aspectos da constituição de identidades musicais juvenis através da análise de chats sobre música da Internet, tentando caracterizar as inter-relações entre essa emergente cultura e tais identidades. Para tal, busquei estudar como jovens - encontrados arbitrariamente nos chats destinados à música - mostram, entendem, investem neste ou naquele gênero musical, como buscam imitar seus astros, como se mostram como "fazedores/as de música", como se situam geograficamente num "tão longe tão perto" que se faz na Rede, e como emergem alguns traços de identidades de gênero, de etnia, na tentativa de entender a forma como tais gostos e disposições musicais contribuem para os processos de construção de suas identidades e quais são elas. O arcabouço teórico estruturou-se de várias matrizes, pelo fato da temática constituir-se numa espécie de tripé que reúne temas como Internet, Juventudes e Música, um terreno bastante novo no panorama acadêmico. Assim que Stuart Hall, Kathryn Woodward, Simon Frith, Néstor García Canclini, Norma Alicia Fatala, Mário Margulis e Marcelo Urresti, Roy Shuker, Hermano Vianna, Micael Herschmann, Douglas Kellner, entre outros/as, foram os principais autores/a trabalhados neste estudo. Quanto à abordagem metodológica, levando em conta o fato de que os Estudos Culturais não têm uma metodologia distinta, e a constroem em relação ao objeto de estudo, no caso desse estudo não me interessei por buscar "causas" nas conversas virtuais sobre música entre os/as jovens, mas partir de suas conversas e mostrar como elas refletem e simultaneamente operam na construção das suas identidades. Os dados trabalhados foram 112 chats gravados durante os anos de 1999, 2000 até janeiro de 2001, da sala de Música, da sala MTV, e sala Papo-Cabeça do site "Variados" do portal UOL e da sala de Música do site "Cult" do portal TERRA. O capítulo I aborda a Internet como um fenômeno presente em nossas vidas urbanas, profissionais, sociais, afetivas, etc. e, em especial, nas vidas dos/as jovens. Discuto nele a legitimidade de se falar em "comunidades" ao se tratar de relações estabelecidas através da rede e discorro sobre nicknames e a linguagem internáutica, fornecendo ferramentas para o entendimento básico do que seja e como funciona um chat na Internet. No capítulo II, trago pistas para a discussão atual de juventude, rediscutindo diversas formas de concebê-la, abordando suas tribos, suas preferências musicais, seus desafios, retomando a questão das "culturas juvenis". Discuto, ainda, a relação entre os conceitos de juventude, mercado, transgressão e, em especial, o consumo de música. O capítulo III aborda especificamente os gêneros musicais citados nos chats, delineando a história do rock e suas principais divisões, focalizando sua ligação com a indústria cultural e com o seu propalado caráter de contestação; trago, ainda, breve nota sobre o "pagode" como gênero musical. No capítulo IV, discuto algumas questões relacionadas à mídia, trazendo alguma notícia sobre os estudos de comunicação e a maneira como a audiência tem sido concebida. Retomo as definições de tietagem e de idolatria, focalizando, especificamente, as questões de audiência de rock. No capítulo V, realizo a análise dos chats, alimentada com exemplos retirados de excertos, focalizando nicknames como marcadores de identidades, a cultura do rock e juventudes, a demarcação e ronteiras entre "nós" e os/as "outros/as", mais especificamente em relação aos/as internautas roqueiros/as e pagodeiros/as, além de outros aspectos que apontam para outras possibilidades analíticas. Nas Considerações Finais, retomo alguns temas recorrentes nos diversos passos da análise, como desterritorialização e novas fronteiras, virtualidades e identidades, o discurso como espaço de representação e/ou criação de identidades, identidades juvenis e gênero, relação entre atividades de ócio, de lazer e identidades. De qualquer forma o estudo não esgota nenhum dos assuntos abordados, atuando principalmente como abertura para novos olhares sobre uma temática que só agora emerge como relevante no panorama dos Estudos Culturais em Educação.The main objective of this study is to outline aspects of the constitution of juvenile identities through the analysis of chat rooms about music on Internet, in order to characterise the interrelations between this emergent culture and such identities. Therefore, it was studied how teenagers - chosen arbitrarily from chat rooms about music - show, understand and invest in different kinds of music, how they search for imitation of their stars, how they stand as producers of their own music, how they are demographically located so far and at the same time so near on the net and how some identities traits of gender, ethnicity emerge, trying to understand how the music they listen to and musical dispositions contribute to the processes of building their identities and what they are. The theoretical framework was based on severa! sources because the thematic is constituted like a tripod joining subjects such as Internet, youth and music, a very new academic field. So, Stuart Hall, Kathryn W oodward, Simon Frith, Nestor Garcia Canclini, Norma Alicia Fatala, Mario Margulis and Marcelo Urresti, Roi Shuker, Hermano Vianna, Micael Herschmann, Douglas Kellner and others were the main authors studied. In reference to the methodological approach, taking into account the fact that the cultural studies don't have a distinct methodology, and build them in relation to the object of the study, which I haven't been interested in looking for "the reasons" referring to the chats about music among teenagers, but tak:ing their conversations, and to show how these discourses reflect and simultaneously act to build their identities. The data was taken from 112 chats recorded during 1999, 2000 until January 2001, ofthe Music room, MTV room and "Papo-Cabeça" of the site "Variados" at UOL gateway and Music room ofthe site "Cult" at Terra gateway. Chapter I deals with Internet as a real phenomenon in our urban, professional, social and affectionate lives and, particularly in teenagers' lives. Both the legality of talking about "communities" referring to the relations set up on the net is discussed and it is also presented nicknames and cybemauts' language, providing a basic comprehension on what an Internet chat is and how it works. In Chapter li some clues are given to a present discussion ofyouth, different ways of conceiving youth is rediscussed, taking into account their "groups", music preferences, their challenges, questioning the "juvenile cultures" again. The concepts of youth, market, transgressions and specifically music consumption is discussed. In Chapter III the musical genders cited on the chats are presented, outlining the history of rock and its main divisions, focusing its link with the cultural industry and its so called contesting feature. There are also some notes of "pagode" as a musical gender.In Chapter IV some questions related to the media are discussed, and there is also some news about the communication studies and how the attendance is been conceived. Worship and the fans' behaviour are redefíned, focusing particularly on rock attendance questions.In Cbapter V tbe analysis of cbats is given based on examples taken from excerpts, focusing nicknames as identities markers, rock culture and youtb, tbe delimitation of bounders between "we" and the "others", particularly related to the rock and "pagodeiros" cybemauts, besides some other aspects that point to other analytical possibilities. At the final considerations some of the recurring themes tbroughout several steps of the analysis are discussed again, as boundless and new borders, virtually and identities, discourses as space of representation and/or creation of identities, juvenile identities and gender, relation between idleness, leisure and identities. Anyway, the study doesn't saturate the subjects approacbed, permitting new views over a thematic that is emerging from the outlook for the Cultural Studies in Education

Jogar, competir e governar: problematizando subjetivações na Contemporaneidade a partir do jogo eletrônico League of Legends

This paper presents a qualitative analysis of a cultural artifact: the electronic game League of Legends. To this end, it problematizes the practices and meanings found in the mechanics and strategies of the game, even relating to displacements in the ways we conduct ourselves in contemporary culture, from cultural artifacts and their pedagogies. Its purpose is to infer how new subjectivities are constituted from and with the electronic game League of Legends. It is perceived how neoliberal rationality, with emphasis on competition and consumption, crosses contemporary cultural artifacts. It is pointed to an increasing instantaneity in which the game also constitutes itself as a constantly changing learning space. It is inferred that flexibility is an important ability for the subject-players to adapt to changing conditions as best they can. Stand out in the culture of the game, both by the company and the players, normalization processes that differentiate, homogenize and hierarchize the players among themselves according to their performances and scores. In addition, it is possible to perceive new forms of governance, which point to crossings and displacements from a society with an emphasis on the discipline to a society with an emphasis on control.Este artigo apresenta uma análise qualitativa de um artefato cultural: o jogo eletrônico League of Legends. Para isso, problematiza as práticas e as significações encontradas nas mecânicas e nas estratégias do jogo, relacionando-as com deslocamentos nas formas de condução na cultura contemporânea, a partir de artefatos culturais e suas pedagogias. O objetivo é inferir como se constituem novas subjetividades a partir e com o jogo eletrônico League of Legends. Percebe-se o quanto a racionalidade neoliberal, com ênfases na competição e no consumo, atravessa os artefatos culturais contemporâneos. Aponta-se para uma instantaneidade crescente na qual o jogo também se constitui como um espaço de aprendizado em constante mutação. Infere-se que a flexibilidade é uma capacidade importante para os sujeitos-jogadores se adaptarem da melhor forma possível a constantes mudanças. Destacam-se, na cultura do jogo, tanto por parte da empresa quanto dos jogadores, processos de normalização que diferenciam, homogeneízam e hierarquizam os jogadores entre si, de acordo com suas performances e pontuações. Além disso, é possível perceber novas formas de governamento, as quais apontam para atravessamentos e deslocamentos de uma sociedade com ênfase na disciplina para uma sociedade com ênfase no controle

Culturas juvenis assembleianas: sociabilidades, lazeres e afetividades

Este ensaio assume como finalidade analisar a constituição de culturas juvenis assembleianas, ancorando-se nos referenciais teórico-metodológicos dos Estudos Culturais em Educação, dos estudos sociológicos e antropológicos sobre juventudes e religião. Infere que há reconfigurações nos modos de pertencimentos e sentidos de vivenciar a condição de ser evangélico, o que não remete necessariamente a formas de resistência, mas outros modos de existência evocados pela condição de ser/estar jovem, afinal, ao mesmo tempo em que buscam se manter portadores da promessa de salvação, os jovens ensejam ser portadores da condição juvenil.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Culturas Juvenis. ATLANTIC EPIPHYTES: a data set of vascular and non-vascular epiphyte plants and lichens from the Atlantic Forest

Epiphytes are hyper-diverse and one of the frequently undervalued life forms in plant surveys and biodiversity inventories. Epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, have high endemism and radiated recently in the Pliocene. We aimed to (1) compile an extensive Atlantic Forest data set on vascular, non-vascular plants (including hemiepiphytes), and lichen epiphyte species occurrence and abundance; (2) describe the epiphyte distribution in the Atlantic Forest, in order to indicate future sampling efforts. Our work presents the first epiphyte data set with information on abundance and occurrence of epiphyte phorophyte species. All data compiled here come from three main sources provided by the authors: published sources (comprising peer-reviewed articles, books, and theses), unpublished data, and herbarium data. We compiled a data set composed of 2,095 species, from 89,270 holo/hemiepiphyte records, in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, recorded from 1824 to early 2018. Most of the records were from qualitative data (occurrence only, 88%), well distributed throughout the Atlantic Forest. For quantitative records, the most common sampling method was individual trees (71%), followed by plot sampling (19%), and transect sampling (10%). Angiosperms (81%) were the most frequently registered group, and Bromeliaceae and Orchidaceae were the families with the greatest number of records (27,272 and 21,945, respectively). Ferns and Lycophytes presented fewer records than Angiosperms, and Polypodiaceae were the most recorded family, and more concentrated in the Southern and Southeastern regions. Data on non-vascular plants and lichens were scarce, with a few disjunct records concentrated in the Northeastern region of the Atlantic Forest. For all non-vascular plant records, Lejeuneaceae, a family of liverworts, was the most recorded family. We hope that our effort to organize scattered epiphyte data help advance the knowledge of epiphyte ecology, as well as our understanding of macroecological and biogeographical patterns in the Atlantic Forest. Este artigo é constituído por um recorte parcial de um estudo de tese de doutorado sobre identidades e jovens em chats sobre música da Internet, já com alguns desenvolvimentos. Propõe-se a levantar algumas conexões entre a Internet temática que "está na mesa", a cultura e a formação de tribos no ciberespaço, sob a ótica dos Estudos Culturais, mostrando a multiplicidade de interrogações que esta temática proporciona, principalmente, no que se refere às culturas juvenis e às identidades

"Geografando" práticas juvenis que (de)marcam a metrópole: uma questao de currículo escolar?

The aim of this paper is to question how particular cultural practices by young subjects beneath the �skin� of cities can produce multiple (and temporary) identities. We focus on pieces of graffiti and territorial markers in streets and on walls in Porto Alegre (RS), and seek to understand to what extent they act upon �other� juvenile ways of �being� in the cities, dressed in different markers, times, and thoughts. These cultures lead to nomadic ways of life and fluctuations, and �placeness� of spaces, which move a type of web of relations of all kinds. Showing that young people have their own cultures and that teachers have to understand these teenagers enables wider meanings in teaching. Pedagogical practices focusing on diverse forms of juvenile manifestations and their peculiarities help us to get closer to the world of young subjects, their schools, and geography education.Busca-se problematizar como determinadas práticas culturais exercidas por sujeitos jovens nas fendas e na pele das cidades podem produzir múltiplos (e provisórios) pertencimentos identitários. São tematizados grafites e pichações que vestem as ruas e paredes de Porto Alegre/RS e em que medida elas nos fazem refletir sobre �outros� modos de �ser� e �estar� jovem nas metrópoles, �vestidas� com suas marcas, de seus tempos, de seus pensamentos. Tais culturas contribuem para os nomadismos e flutuações, também para a �lugarização� dos espaços, que movimentam uma espécie de rede de relações de toda ordem. Mostrar que os jovens possuem culturas próprias e que estas precisam ser compreendidas pelos professores possibilita maiores significações no ensino. Práticas pedagógicas que enfocam as diversas formas de manifestação juvenil e suas peculiaridades trazem subsídios para que possa haver uma aproximação maior com o mundo dos sujeitos jovens, da escola, bem como o ensino da geografia
