    Expression profiles of five FT-like genes and functional analysis of PhFT-1 in a Phalaenopsis hybrid

    Background: Phalaenopsis is an important ornamental flowering plant that belongs to the Orchidaceae family and is cultivated worldwide. Phalaenopsis has a long juvenile phase; therefore, it is important to understand the genetic elements regulating the transition from vegetative phase to reproductive phase. In this study, FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) homologs in Phalaenopsis were cloned, and their effects on flowering were analyzed. Results: A total of five FT-like genes were identified in Phalaenopsis. Phylogenetic and expression analyses of these five FT-like genes indicated that some of these genes might participate in the regulation of flowering. A novel FT-like gene, PhFT-1, distantly related to previously reported FT genes in Arabidopsis and other dicot crops, was also found to be a positive regulator of flowering as heterologous expression of PhFT-1 in Arabidopsis causes an early flowering phenotype.     Prevalence, associated factors and outcomes of pressure injuries in adult intensive care unit patients: the DecubICUs study

Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients. Methods: International 1-day point-prevalence study; follow-up for outcome assessment until hospital discharge (maximum 12 weeks). Factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injury and hospital mortality were assessed by generalised linear mixed-effects regression analysis. Results: Data from 13,254 patients in 1117 ICUs (90 countries) revealed 6747 pressure injuries; 3997 (59.2%) were ICU-acquired. Overall prevalence was 26.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 25.9–27.3). ICU-acquired prevalence was 16.2% (95% CI 15.6–16.8). Sacrum (37%) and heels (19.5%) were most affected. Factors independently associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries were older age, male sex, being underweight, emergency surgery, higher Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Braden score 3 days, comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency), organ support (renal replacement, mechanical ventilation on ICU admission), and being in a low or lower-middle income-economy. Gradually increasing associations with mortality were identified for increasing severity of pressure injury: stage I (odds ratio [OR] 1.5; 95% CI 1.2–1.8), stage II (OR 1.6; 95% CI 1.4–1.9), and stage III or worse (OR 2.8; 95% CI 2.3–3.3). Conclusion: Pressure injuries are common in adult ICU patients. ICU-acquired pressure injuries are associated with mainly intrinsic factors and mortality. Optimal care standards, increased awareness, appropriate resource allocation, and further research into optimal prevention are pivotal to tackle this important patient safety threat

    Qualitative study of the perceived experiences and needs coping of primary caregivers of patients with breast cancer during operation in central China

    Purpose The purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the intraoperative waiting period experience and needs response of primary caregivers of patients with breast cancer.Method Using a purposive sampling method, 16 primary caregivers of patients with breast cancer admitted to the Department of Breast Surgery of Shanxi Bethune Hospital from January to May 2022 were selected as study subjects. Semistructured in-depth interviews were conducted using a qualitative research method.Results Five themes were extracted from the levels of safety and security, information transfer, emotion management, psychological adjustment and role adaptation: safety first and intraoperative care, lack of information and misdirection, negative emotions and tired of coping, ineffective worry and overthinking, and role multiplicity and bearing alone, respectively.Conclusion The intraoperative waiting period for primary caregivers of patients with breast cancer felt multidimensional and had less than optimal needs satisfaction. Healthcare professionals should use the existing needs as an entry point to give appropriate interventions to enhance the coping ability of caregivers of patients with breast cancer

    Previous phylogenetic analyses of the grass-specialist leafhopper tribe Chiasmini have resolved relationships among genera but have included few representatives of individual genera. Here the phylogeny of 20 Chinese species belonging to 8 chiasmine genera was investigated by combining DNA sequence data from two mitochondrial genes (COI, 16S) and two nuclear genes (H3, 28S). In both maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) analyses, relationships among genera were largely consistent with prior analyses, with most members of the tribe placed into two sister clades: (Exitianus + Nephotettix) and the remaining five sampled genera. To examine morphology-based species definitions in the taxonomically difficult genus Exitianus Ball, 1929, one mitochondrial gene (COI) and one nuclear gene (ITS2) were used to infer the phylogenetic relationships and status of two common and widespread species and compare the performance of different molecular species-delimitation methods. These analyses divide the included populations into two well-supported clades corresponding to current morphological species concepts but some inconsistencies occurred under the jMOTU, ABGD and bPTP methods depending on the which gene and analytical parameter values were selected. Considering the variable results yielded by methods employing single loci, the BPP method, which combines data from multiple loci, may be more reliable in Exitianus

    Background: IGSF10 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Over the previous decade, growing proof has validated definitive correlations between individuals of the immunoglobulin superfamily and human diseases. However, the function of IGSF10 in pan-cancer stays unclear. We aimed to analyze the immunological and prognostic value of IGSF10 in pan-cancer.Methods: We utilized a vary of bioinformatic ways to inspect the function of IGSF10 in pan-cancer, including its correlation with prognosis, immune cell infiltration, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), mismatch repair (MMR), DNA methyltransferases, genetic alteration, drug sensitivity, etc.Results: We noticed low expression of IGSF10 in most cancer types. IGSF10 expression in tumor samples correlates with prognosis in most cancers. In most cancer types, IGSF10 expression was strongly related to immune cells infiltration, immune checkpoints, immune modulators, TMB, MSI, MMR, and DNA methyltransferases, among others. Functional enrichment analyses indicated that IGSF10 expression was involved in lymphocyte differentiation, cell molecules adhesion, etc. Furthermore, low IGSF10 expression could increase the drug sensitivity of many drugs.Conclusion:IGSF10 could serve as a novel prognostic marker and attainable immunotherapy target for several malignancies.</p

    Study on Fault Current Characteristics and Current Limiting Method of Plug-In Devices in VSC-DC Distribution System

    The DC (Direct Current) distribution system based on the voltage source converter (VSC-DC) has become a research hotspot due to its various advantages. There are many plug-in devices in the VSC-DC distribution system, which may be damaged by the fault current. Therefore, studying the fault current characteristics and current limiting method is one of the key methods to ensure the safe and stable operation of the VSC-DC distribution system. Based on theoretical analysis and simulation calculations, this paper studies the causes, influencing factors, and current limiting methods of the fault current when the pole-to-pole fault occurs at the line side of plug-in devices in a &plusmn;10 kV VSC-DC distribution system. Firstly, based on the system topology, the decisive fault condition of fault current and the design principle of current limiting reactor value are analyzed. Secondly, the theoretical calculation methods of fault current and current limiting reactor value which satisfies the breaking capacity of DC circuit breaker are proposed. Finally, the accuracy of theoretical calculation methods is verified by simulation in PSCAD/EMTDC (Power Systems Computer Aided Design/Electromagnetic Transients including DC). The research results could provide the theoretical calculation methods of the fault current and the current limiting reactor value of plug-in devices in the &plusmn;10 kV VSC-DC distribution system
