    New results from an extensive aging test on bakelite Resistive Plate Chambers

    We present recent results of an extensive aging test, performed at the CERN Gamma Irradiation Facility on two single--gap RPC prototypes, developed for the LHCb Muon System. With a method based on a model describing the behaviour of an RPC under high particle flux conditions, we have periodically measured the electrode resistance R of the two RPC prototypes over three years: we observe a large spontaneous increase of R with time, from the initial value of about 2 MOhm to more than 250 MOhm.     Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konsentrasi fosfat dan total suspended solid, serta sebarannya secara horizontal di Muara Sungai Cilautereun, Garut. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2015 di Perairan Muara Sungai Cilauteureun, Garut. Variabel yang diamati berupa fosfat, total suspended solid, dan arus pasang surut. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan 9 stasiun pengamatan. Penentuan lokasi stasiun pengambilan sampel ditentukan sebagai lokasi yang mewakili keadaan lokasi keseluruhan. Tahap pengolahan dan analisa data dilakukan di Laboratorium Kualitas Perairan LP2IL Serang, Banten. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai konsentrasi fosfat saat pasang sebesar 0,0060 – 0,0351mg/l dan saat surut sebesar 0,0087 – 0,0275 mg/l. Nilai konsentrasi TSS saat pasang sebesar 28 – 84,6 mg/l dan saat surut sebesar 33 – 68 mg/l. Pola sebaran konsentrasi fosfat dan TSS memiliki pergerakan menuju mengikuti pola arus yang terbentuk baik pada kondisi pasang maupun surut. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh maka dapat disimpulkan kesuburan perairan Muara Sungai Cilauteureun berada pada konsisi yang baik

    Alcohol, empathy, and morality: acute effects of alcohol consumption on affective empathy and moral decision-making

    Rationale: Hypothetical moral dilemmas, pitting characteristically utilitarian and non-utilitarian outcomes against each other, have played a central role in investigations of moral decision-making. Preferences for utilitarian over non-utilitarian responses have been explained by two contrasting hypotheses; one implicating increased deliberative reasoning, and the other implicating diminished harm aversion. In recent field experiments, these hypotheses have been investigated using alcohol intoxication to impair both social and cognitive functioning. These studies have found increased utilitarian responding, arguably as a result of alcohol impairing affective empathy. Objectives: The present research expands existing investigations by examining the acute effects of alcohol on affective empathy and subsequent moral judgments in traditional vignettes and moral actions in virtual reality, as well as physiological responses in moral dilemmas. Methods: Participants (N = 48) were administered either a placebo or alcohol in one of two dosages; low or moderate. Both pre- and post intervention, participants completed a moral action and moral judgment task alongside behavioural measures of affective empathy. Results: Higher dosages of alcohol consumption resulted in inappropriate empathic responses to facial displays of emotion, mirroring responses of individuals high in trait psychopathy, but empathy for pain was unaffected. Whilst affective empathy was influenced by alcohol consumption in a facial responding task, both moral judgments and moral actions were unaffected. Conclusions: These results suggest that facets, beyond or in addition to deficits in affective empathy, might influence the relationship between alcohol consumption and utilitarian endorsement

    First results from an aging test of a prototype RPC for the LHCb Muon System

    Recent results of an aging test performed at the CERN Gamma Irradiation Facility on a single--gap RPC prototype developed for the LHCb Muon System are presented. The results are based on an accumulated charge of about 0.45 C/cm2^2, corresponding to about 4 years of LHCb running at the highest background rate. The performance of the chamber has been studied under several photon flux values exploiting a muon beam. A degradation of the rate capability above 1 kHz/cm2^2 is observed, which can be correlated to a sizeable increase of resistivity of the chamber plates. An increase of the chamber dark current is also observed.     UNDIP telah diakui sebagai salah satu perguruan tinggi ternama di Indonesia. Hal ini semakin mendorong UNDIP untuk selalu meningkatkan kualitasnya. Berdasarkan kondisi UNDIP saat ini, mobilisasi akses keluar masuk UNDIP Tembalang meningkat secara signifikan yang mengakibatkan kemacetan di ruas jalan Prof. Soedarto. Hal ini perlu diimbangi dengan penyediaan jalan, sehingga dilakukan perencanaan jalan alternatif menuju kampus UNDIP Tembalang melalui Jalan Sapta Marga. Perencanaan jalan alternatif ini direncanakan dengan panjang jalan 2,605 km, yaitu dimulai dari STA 0+000 di simpang Fakultas Ekonomika dan Bisnis dan berakhir di STA 2+605 di simpang Jalan Jangli Perbalan Raya. Direncanakan jalur lalu lintas 2 lajur-2 arah tak terbagi (2/2 UD), lebar lajur 3 m, bahu jalan tanpa trotoar 1-2 meter dan dengan ada trotoar 0,25 meter, saluran samping 1 m, kecepatan rencana 30 km/jam, kelandaian memanjang maksimum 10 %, jumlah lengkung horizontal 7 buah dan lengkung vertikal 15 buah. Perkerasan yang digunakan adalah perkerasan lentur meliputi lapis permukaan laston AC-WC 4 cm dan AC-BC 6 cm, lapis pondasi atas batu pecah kelas A 15 cm, lapis pondasi bawah sirtu kelas B 20 cm, nilai CBR lapangan 4,052. Terdapat lima seksi dalam perencanaan perkerasan jalan, yakni: seksi I pada STA 0+000 s.d STA 0+955 perkerasan jalan baru, seksi II pada STA 0+955 s.d 1+005 overlay pada jalan eksisting dan pelebaran badan jalan, seksi III pada STA 1+005 s.d 1+980 perkerasan jalan baru, seksi IV pada STA 1+980 s.d 2+605 overlay pada jalan eksisting dan pelebaran badan jalan, overlay lapis permukaan laston 6 cm. Proyek ini membutuhkan dana sebesar Rp 16.134.847.500,00 sudah termasuk PPN 10 %. Rencana waktu pelaksanaan kegiatan proyek ini adalah 20 (dua puluh) minggu atau 5 (lima) bulan

    The preliminary results of an aging test performed at the CERN Gamma Irradiation Facility on a single--gap RPC prototype developed for the LHCb Muon System are presented. The results are based on an accumulated charge density of 0.42 C/cm^2, corresponding to about 4 years of LHCb running at the highest background rate. We observe a rise in the dark current and noise measured with source off. The current drawn with source on steadily decreased, possibly indicating an increase of resistivity of the chamber plates.     Association between Luteinizing Hormone/Choriogonadotropin Receptor Ins18LQ Gene Polymorphism and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

    BACKGROUND: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders of women in the childbearing period. However, its pathophysiology is still unclear. Certain polymorphisms of the luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR) genes may lead to changes in the bioactivity of this hormone. The important functional role of LHCGR in the metabolism of androgen and ovulation, the LHCGR gene variant, may be related to the risk of PCOS. AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between LHCGR Ins18LQ gene polymorphism and PCOS. METHODS: A case–control study was performed in women with PCOS and non-PCOS from May 2019 to October 2019 in HFC IVF Center. We included 50 women with PCOS and 50 healthy controls. Polymorphism of the LHCGR (ins18LQ) gene was genotyped using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. RESULTS: From this study, we found that there was no significant difference in the proportion of ages between the groups (p > 0.05). There were significant differences in the characteristics of body mass index, FSH level, LH level, and LH/FSH ratio between the PCOS and control groups (p < 0.05). We also found that the proportion of heterozygote variant non-ins/ins was higher in the PCOS group compared to the control group, but there was no significant difference between the polymorphisms of the non-ins and non-nonins variants between the PCOS and control groups (p = 0.269). The frequency of ins alleles was higher in the PCOS group compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: There was no significant association between LHCGR ins18LQ gene polymorphism and PCOS

    Zebrafish globin switching occures in two developmental stages and is controlled by the LCR

    Globin gene switching is a complex, highly regulated process allowing expression of distinct globin genes at specific developmental stages. Here, for the first time, we have characterized all of the zebrafish globins based on the completed genomic sequence. Two distinct chromosomal loci, termed major (chromosome 3) and minor (chromosome 12), harbor the globin genes containing α/β pairs in a 5'-3' to 3'-5' orientation. Both these loci share synteny with the mammalian α-globin locus. Zebrafish globin expression was assayed during development and demonstrated two globin switches, similar to human development. A conserved regulatory element, the locus control region (LCR), was revealed by analyzing DNase I hypersensitive sites, H3K4 trimethylation marks and GATA1 binding sites. Surprisingly, the position of these sites with relation to the globin genes is evolutionarily conserved, despite a lack of overall sequence conservation. Motifs within the zebrafish LCR include CACCC, GATA, and NFE2 sites, suggesting functional interactions with known transcription factors but not the same LCR architecture. Functional homology to the mammalian α-LCR MCS-R2 region was confirmed by robust and specific reporter expression in erythrocytes of transgenic zebrafish. Our studies provide a comprehensive characterization of the zebrafish globin loci and clarify the regulation of globin switching
