Introduction: Training analysis is attended to a multitude of variables that determine the tasks and learning of the players. Aim: The objective of this study is to analyze the pedagogical variables and their relation to the different game situations that are used in basketball training tasks. Methods: After a descriptive analysis of the tasks, relationships and associations were identified between the Game Situation (GS) and the Game Phase, the Content Type and the Training Medium. Results & discussion: Unopposed tasks were associated with attack tasks, individual technical gestures and the use of exercises as a means. Equality reduced game situations in numerical with attack tasks, group tactical behaviors and games. Inequality reduced game situations in with defense tasks, group tactical behaviors and games. Finally, the most real game situations (5x5) were associated with mixed tasks, collective tactical behaviors and used sport as a means. Conclusions: By the control of the training, the trainer’s intervention is characterized, as well as the underlying methodology in his intervention. In addition, in the context of school sports, it is a tool that facilitates the development of specific contents according to the formative stage.Introdução: Para a análise do treinamento são atendidas múltiplas variáveis que condicionam as tarefas e a aprendizagem dos jogadores. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of three different combinations for the ‘‘loading phase’’ in the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME), using bevacizumab (BVZ), triamcinolone (TCL) and subthreshold macular photocoagulation (SMPC). Methods: Experimental, longitudinal, prospective, comparative and blind. Patients were randomly assigned to three treatment branches: Group 1: BVZ + SMPC (12 eyes), Group 2: SMPC + BVZ + TCL (7 eyes), Group 3: BVZ + TCL (11 eyes). Treatment with BVZ and TCL was given every 4 weeks for 3 months, SMPC was applied once at the beginning of treatment. Initial and final measurements of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT) and intraocular pressure (IOP) were tested. Results: The improvement in BCVA and the reduction in CMT was statistically superior in group of BVZ + SMPCwhen compared to the other groups. There were no differences in IOP. Conclusions: Combined therapies in the ‘‘loading phase’’are a good option when treating DME. Although the group with BVZ + SMPC obtained the best results, further studies with longer followup and a higher number of participants to establish this combined therapy as the first treatment option are required

Hospitality employers’ perceptions of technology for sustainable development: The implications for graduate employability

    Get PDF
This paper investigates hospitality employers’ perspectives of two key inter-disciplinary subjects, i.e. sustainable development (SD) and information technology in the context of hospitality education, particularly graduate employability. A qualitative approach is deployed at this stage of the research with semi-structured interviews conducted with employers of hospitality graduates that represent diverse stakeholders in the industry. Respondents had varying interpretations of the meaning of sustainable development and the role of technology in their businesses. Sustainability is not currently prioritised as a critical employability skill however employers clearly appreciate the value of sustainability for their business and recognise how technology might support SD. This is the first effort to investigate employers’ perspectives of the interdisciplinary subjects of technology and sustainable development in hospitality management undergraduate education

Modulation of the silica sol-gel composition for the promotion of direct electron transfer to encapsulated cytochrome

The direct electron transfer between indium-tin oxide electrodes (ITO) and cytochrome c encapsulated in different sol-gel silica networks was studied. Cyt c@silica modified electrodes were synthesized by a two-step encapsulation method mixing a phosphate buffer solution with dissolved cytochrome c and a silica sol prepared by the alcohol-free sol-gel route. These modified electrodes were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and in situ UV-vis spectroelectrochemistry. The electrochemical response of encapsulated protein is influenced by the terminal groups of the silica pores. Cyt c does not present electrochemical response in conventional silica (hydroxyl terminated) or phenyl terminated silica. Direct electron transfer to encapsulated cytochrome c and ITO electrodes only takes place when the protein is encapsulated in methyl modified silica networks. We gratefully acknowledge Jesus Yanez and Prof. Jose Miguel Martin-Martinez from the Laboratory of Adhesion and Adhesives (University of Alicante) for their assistance in the measurements of contact angle. Inferring persistent interdomain congestion

    Get PDF
There is significant interest in the technical and policy communities regarding the extent, scope, and consumer harm of persistent interdomain congestion. We provide empirical grounding for discussions of interdomain congestion by developing a system and method to measure congestion on thousands of interdomain links without direct access to them. We implement a system based on the Time Series Latency Probes (TSLP) technique that identifies links with evidence of recurring congestion suggestive of an under-provisioned link. We deploy our system at 86 vantage points worldwide and show that congestion inferred using our lightweight TSLP method correlates with other metrics of interconnection performance impairment. We use our method to study interdomain links of eight large U.S. broadband access providers from March 2016 to December 2017, and validate our inferences against ground-truth traffic statistics from two of the providers. For the period of time over which we gathered measurements, we did not find evidence of widespread endemic congestion on interdomain links between access ISPs and directly connected transit and content providers, although some such links exhibited recurring congestion patterns. We describe limitations, open challenges, and a path toward the use of this method for large-scale third-party monitoring of the Internet interconnection ecosystem
